it’s a shared house we had a bunch of teenagers upstairs, playing music at 3am parked all over lawn throwing cold hot chips off their balcony. vomit all over the shared front stair space and left no room in the bins for our rubbish.

Although most aspects of the property were acceptable to us, we found the noise coming from the upstairs apartment spoilt our stay there. There appears to be only a thin wooden floor separating this downstairs apartment from the larger upstairs apartment of this house, and unfortunately sound passes through it very easily. Most disturbing was the incessant footsteps of people walking above, which seemed to reverberate down to us.

The keys were available from the property managers, The Professionals, in town. We arrived during office hours and the keys and linen pack were provided with no fuss. Note that no linen, towels, toilet paper or dishwashing equipment is provided with this property, so come prepared with your own or to rent for a fee.

This was the most horrendous experience we’ve ever had, so bad that we only stayed in the property for 16 hours, walking away despite knowing that we would be foregoing the $500+ non-refundable booking fee. The property is a house which has been split into an upstairs and downstairs apartment. We arrived at the property to find the upstairs apartment had been let to two families with small children. From the downstairs apartment we could hear everything, every single footstep, every chair movement, every screech, yelp, thud, music, tv and dropped item through the paper thin walls and there were a lot of all of these and at high volume. It was constant. All we wanted was a relaxing long weekend away to regenerate after an extremely busy period. No attempt was made by the parents to apologize or control their feral brood. In any case, all the adults present (they invited additional guests), had parked themselves out on the balcony with enough alcohol to deaden their aural senses while the children ran amok indoors. We did not complain or attempt to make contact with the families above because ultimately, unruly children are the product of bad parenting and you can’t reason with bad parents. Also, the rules regarding noise disruptions were general and vague - no offensive noises between 10pm and 8am. Even after the kids were asleep in their beds, the family decided to run the washing machine at 11pm which was just the other side of our bedroom, and they were constantly bounding up and down the stairs. But really, the soul destroying racket from the upstairs was nothing compared to the lack of heating in the frigid apartment, the fact that the induction cooktop didn’t work (no instruction manual provided) and that the hot water ran out - as sadly discovered by my partner at 6am. To be told, when we checked out 48 hours earlier than expected, that we should have called the emergency number was a slap in the face by the unprofessional Professionals.
