The property and facility was excellent. Highly recommend to anyone needing a place to stay while in Oak Island, NC. The accommodations were excellent for the five adult members of our family. Would definitely book another stay when visiting Oak Island again!

Just spent the weekend with a group of girlfriends, and the house was perfect! Everything was so clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. We really appreciated all the amenities, including a bowl of yummy snacks. The outdoor deck area was super relaxing and we enjoyed one of our nights around the fire pit. Bernice was very responsive as a host and we would not hesitate to stay at this property again.

I could not have asked for a better place to stay with my family. We were only there three days and it rained part of the time. The place made the rain a little more acceptable. When the rain left we enjoyed the beach and some of the local attractions. More than enough kitchen stuff to prepare our meals there.
Would stay again in the future.

Beautifully modernized cottage, clean, comfortable, with a wide variety of amenities. Located in quiet residential neighborhood. Very responsive owner. Easy check-in. Great island with lots of recreational facilities available to guests and fun restaurants. Publlix grocery store less than a 5 minute drive.

Bernice has created such a lovely home!!! The sheets were the softest, the bed extremely comfortable. What we loved so much was the extra things, from the beautiful decorative touches, to the snacks and coffees she has for her guests to the games, boogie boards, bags and more!! She made her beautiful home feel like our home (well, maybe even prettier!!!) thank you for the lovely stay! We would absolutely stay with Bernice again!!

Hello, our stay here was excellent. It is a lovely craftsman style home with simple clean decor and an excellent layout. There is more space than appears online and at initial arrival!
The outdoor space was lovely as well, we enjoyed a grilled dinner and games on the deck. Also the outdoor shower is perfect after a day of sand and sun before going inside.
The walk to the beach is very short, maybe 5-7 min depending on the individual, heat is the only downfall, and that can't be blamed on the property owner. All in all 5+ stars, would definitely recommend!

My family of 4 just stayed here for our summer vacation. It was the perfect size for us. Everyone was comfortable. The house is very tastefully decorated. Living room furniture was comfortable. Master bath was bigger than mine at home. The host was attentive to any questions I may have had. Oh, and the outdoor space!!! I had coffee out there every morning.

Beautiful, clean, close to everything… this was a perfect retreat from every day life for my family. The kids didn’t want to leave the house behind! Literally- they said the best part of the whole vacation was how perfect the home was. Have to say, I loved it just as much.

It's easy to give a high rating when everything goes perfectly as planned. The true test, though, is what happens when there's a glitch. We had a glitch with check-in, but we expected it to turn out well based on Bernice's SuperHost status. We weren't wrong. Bernice went above and beyond to make it right, and we enjoyed a fun-filled weekend in her beautiful home. This may be the most well-appointed, cozy VRBO we've visited. We hope to return!

We really enjoyed our stay at A Shore thing! The pictures definitely do the place justice! It was clean and so cozy. Beds were amazing. Very spacious for our family of 5. We loved the use of the outside space with the large side deck and fire pit area! Would definitely stay here again. Thanks for letting us stay in your cute place, Bernice!

Beautifully decorated home with all the comforts. Bernice has thought of everything. We loved having our morning coffee on the side deck~ perfectly situated and beautifully furnished. The home is incredibly cozy and inviting. The bed in the primary bedroom was very comfortable. All the linens were nice quality and towels and wash cloths freshly laid out for our use. Loved everything about it. We will definitely be back.

Plenty of little touches made this a cozy home for a lovely family beach vacation. The house was very clean, adequately stocked, and conveniently located near shopping. The side deck and nice backyard with firepit were the cherry on top of a wonderful stay.

Great property! We have 2 young kids so we did lots of cooking and found all the necessities in the kitchen which is not always the case! The outdoor space was wonderful to get outside without committing to the beach. Walking distance to the inter coastal and the beach. Close to amenities and also on a quiet street. Would definitely stay here again and recommend for families.

We were so pleased with our stay. The place is very clean, beautifully/comfortably decorated with all amenities needed for a relaxed and very enjoyable stay. The location is walkable to coffee, food and the beach. I was able to speak with the property owner who is a lovely person. I would recommend to anyone.

This is a fantastic Oak Island getaway. It was much bigger than we expected and so comfortable and beautiful inside. Lots of nice welcoming touches on arrival. The deck and fire pit areas are awesome- great to kick back and relax outside. It is just minutes to walk to the beach, and the big Publix grocery store is around the corner for anything you need. We would definitely stay again!

This property is well equipped with anything and everything you might need. The linens and towels were great, decoration very beachy and tasteful. Great location to beach, stores, park. Boogie boards for kids, beach chairs, corn hole, fire pit in backyard, great inviting deck for lounging and eating.
Bernice the host is VERY responsive to any inquiry!
I recommend renting a golf cart from Pete’s… so convenient and fun for getting gear to beach, going to Piers, grocery etc.
Oak island is different from other beach towns with a real community feel, beautiful live oaks, and access to intracoastal waterway.

This cottage was very spacious for our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 small kids) and would easily fit a family with more children or older children. It was extremely clean and had everything we needed during our stay. Cottage is located on a quiet street which was nice for my 4 y/o who likes evening bike rides, but it was also close enough to easily walk to the beach, local shops, ice cream and donuts! The outdoor space was exceptional as well, we spent a lot of time outside with our kids and the outdoor shower was a must have when coming home from the beach - so easy to wash the kids off before going inside. We would absolutely stay here again when visiting OKI!

We came down with our 4yo and met friends with a 6yo. This beach was a magical experience and we loved taking the boys to the Fort Fisher aquarium (on the ferry) while the husbands golfed nearby. We shopped at local artists shops and loved the slow pace. Families can use the splashpad and playground near Pepperoni Grill on angry ocean days.
Loved the house and the small touches like having charcoal, dishwashing liquid, and other starter amenities for us. The outdoor spaces were perfect for popiscles and late night parenting chats. It was a great stay. Thank you!

This rental was perfect for a worry free vacation.
Location is right in the heart of Oak Island, within block of restaurants, grocery, coffee shop, gas station, and beach! Very well maintained, clean and stocked with everything you need (including beach chairs, variety of board games and fire pit) We hated to leave after the week. Would highly recommend this property, you won't regret staying here.

This property ranks as one of the best places we have ever vacationed in. The house was like a home away from home and the owners have thought of everything.
