It’s location of course. It’s in the downtown and super convenient. I also absolutely loved amenities, kitchen, bedrooms and authenticity of the place.

I’d call out master shower drain - it seemed clogged and water didn’t go away quickly. Also poor sound insulation - I’ve heard my neighbors from the second floor.

The bed was very comfortable. That was literally this place's only redeeming feature.

I've NEVER had worse communication from a lodging, or accommodations that so disappointed compared to expectations. First off, we received no communication from our hosts prior to our arrival--NONE. When we got to Akureyri, I tried calling to get the key code, but only got a recording in Icelandic and there was no way to leave a voicemail. I emailed them and contacted them through Booking.com multiple times and got no answer. Only after 3 HOURS and me threatening to book a different accommodation did I finally get the code...and then, the directions that came with it directed us to the WRONG DOOR on the WRONG SIDE of the house!!! I finally got someone on the phone who spoke very poor English, and she managed to get us to the correct door (on the SOUTH side, NOT the east!!) but I was very angry by then. Five minutes after we got in, other guests showed up at our door, having had the same problem. Now, all this time we'd been wandering around Akureyri waiting and hoping to get in, we figured it would at least be worth it, because of the beautiful accommodations we expected from the listing photos. BUT NO! We were given a BARREN, DUSTY, BASEMENT apartment with MINIMAL furniture and NO decoration whatsoever. As of this writing, this apartment is NOT shown ANYWHERE in the listing photos! The bathroom door handle was literally attached with TAPE, the shower drain was CLOGGED, the "ladder" towel rack was propped up upside down (the heavy end goes on the *bottom,* folks...), and everything in the kitchen was COATED WITH DUST. There were k-cups for coffee...UNLABELLED. (Thank goodness we'd brought our own instant coffee.) OH! and the COUCH had a huge WET SPOT right in the center and between the cushions--which was still damp the next morning!!! And there were 2 spoons in the freezer. And is it Hotel Akureyri, Akureyri Residence, Guesthouse Akurinn, Akurinn Residence...? Hosts: MAKE UP YOUR MINDS!!

no Kleenex… no waste baskets in bedrooms… no hairdryer… bathroom and shower set up very strange! also need fans in the rooms… very hot

Very good apartment on first floor newly renovated. Large 2 bedrooms and a sofabed the beds are good. 2 bathrooms with showers. Location Very good. Highly recommend.

spacious apartment on the second floor with large rooms. quiet neighborhood but convenient to downtown. well equipped and clean.

very small bathroom without any hooks or towel racks. no separate shower so bathroom gets wet when showering. weird kitchen layout with two sections. coffee maker, tea kettle, dishes and microwave are in a hallway separate from the kitchen with fridge, stove, dishwasher and sink.

There was kitchen,good koffe.

We stayed two nights in this lovely house. The house was decorated beautifully and the rooms were well appointed. We were 5 friends traveling and there was plenty of space and room for everyone. Check in was seamless and we loved that were were able to walk (3 min) to the town to go out to dinner and shop. We traveled the entire country and enjoyed staying in a house for this part of the trip. This house is great for big groups/families. We LOVED Iceland and would absolutely stay here again.

A beautiful classical house from around 1930 with a matching interior and comfortable beds. Location is great, just a few minutes from downtown Akureyri so all restaurants are in a walking distance.

There were several surprises during our stay that explain the negative rating. First off, the wifi didn't work despite multiply tries. We were there to work so this was a very bad surprise. Second, the apartment downstairs was being renovated and the noise was so loud that we couldn't work at the house during the day. Third, the shared bathroom upstairs had a horrible smell which made it unusable and that left us with not enough bathrooms for a group of 10. Fourth, there is a professional washing room in the cellar and it was right below my bedroom and to my horror washing was going on all night so I couldn't sleep. This is actually illegal in Iceland as I pointed out to the man in charge of the washing. Looks like the man was washing for whole of Hotel Akureyri and not just using the washing room for the house. I don't think it is Ok to have such a washing facility in a rented house. Fifth, the back door of the house was always unlocked. I think the man who was washing unlocked it. I kept on locking the door as we had expensive computer equipment in the house. Few hours later I would come back to the house and the back door was unlocked. All in all a very negative experience despite a beautiful house.
