What a delightful cottage. It was well maintained, very clean, well setup and stocked with just about every kitchen appliances/cookware needed. Beautifully decorated. The hosts are very friendly, inviting, and very responsive to any questions. What a lovely place to relax and enjoy time with friends.

Very warm and comfortable home. Home had everything you would need/want for your stay. Laid out well, labels to easily locate items in the house, welcome book provided good information on specifics related to the property. VERY clean and organized. There was a basket full of brochures on area attractions for eating/shopping/recreation etc. for all seasons. Would be a great place to stay for all 4 seasons!! Very much enjoyed our stay and would come back in a heartbeat!

The cabin was a lovely place to kick back and just hang out together. One issue we found was that being in our mid-80s, we were not able to enjoy the water as we had anticipated. It was partly because the weather was either very very warm or rainy and cool. The bigger issue was that getting the canoe down the steep bank was not an easy task for the four of us. It would have been helpful to have a wench at the top of the bank to aid in the effort. We didn't try to take the kayaks down but probably would have made the effort if the weather had been a little more moderate. That said, we enjoyed our experience and can commend it to others.
It would be a marvelous place to take children because younger people could easily manage the canoe and kayaks and there are many water toys for all to enjoy.
We didn't have a campfire, again weather related but there is a marvelous campfire ring surrounded with good seating. Wood and marshmallow sticks are right there handy to us.
This is a nice option in VRBO.
The hosts were outstanding. We had such fine communication together.

The property was very clean and inviting. The hosts were on top of everything and quick to respond to any questions. As someone else commented, we saw more loons and eagles than people. We caught some nice largemouth bass right off the dock. The only (small) issue was, the stairs to the lake were a little challenging for two older people with bad knees. Other than that, I highly recommend Whispering Pines Hideaway.

Such a beautiful cabin on a fish filled lake! We caught a bunch of pan fish and bass out on the lake too. Some good size ones are out there! Loons came in a few nights, and there’s nothing more up north than hearing Loons out on the lake! In a great location surrounded by all the various lakes for us to bass fish.
The kitchen is well stocked and labeled which we loved! No blind searching for something. David and Loni are amazing hosts and great with communicating! We highly recommend and we will definitely be staying again!

This was our second time staying at WP and was absolutely perfect! We’ll stocked kitchen, beautiful and tranquil lake. Comfortable beds! We’re going to return, for sure.

The home was nice and clean. The property is located on a small lake that was nice to swim, fish and kayak in. The well stocked kitchen and a gas grill allowed us to eat our meals there. It is a peaceful location and Hayward is only a a 15 minute drive away.

The cabin on Gurno Lake was perfect for our family. It is very private, beautiful setting in the woods, right on the lake. We enjoyed sitting around the campfire at night and sitting on the dock watching the bald eagles perched overhead. We took the canoe out on the lake and we were the only ones out there. It's a very quiet and serene place. The cabin has all the amenities one may need. The kitchen is the most well-stocked I have ever seen for a rental. The beds were very comfortable. The hosts were very hospitable and easy to communicate with. They left popcorn and a s'mores kit for us which was so kind. Hayward is a short 15-20 minute drive with lots of fun shops and restaurants. I highly recommend this place and hope to be back!

The Whispering Pines Hideaway lived up to the reviews and then some. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay. The pictures do not do justice to how beautiful this lakeside home is. Very clean, beautifully decorated, spacious kitchen, comfortable beds, etc. and the secluded and serene setting was 5-star to be sure.
We loved Lake Gurno and caught lots of fish (big bass and bluegill and even a walleye while fishing for bass) out of the host’s very nice 3-person canoe. Eagles and loons galore and with no public access we were often the only ones on the entire lake! Be sure to take the canoe through the small channel to the north where you’ll find more fish and even more beauty/seclusion. We were also treated to a visit from a deer right out the back door and the fire pit overlooking the lake was also a treat.
Communication with the hosts was great and having access to one side of the garage was especially nice for unpacking and packing.
Just can’t say enough good things about our experience. Sure hope to be back!

We were blown away by how nice this property is! The house was set up with all the amenities we needed, everything was clearly labeled and easy to find. The lake is stunning amd quiet and we saw lots of wildlife. Its a short drive to area attractions and restaurants. We absolutely loved staying here!

My son and nephews and I stayed for the weekend to do some ice fishing and snowmobiling. Very clean and cozy house. The labeled drawers and cabinets were a huge help. No need to dig through every cabinet to find what you’re looking for. Tight driveway with all the snow for a truck and trailer. Which is very common in that neck of the woods.

My brothers in law and I had a great relaxing Weeknd! Did some successful bass fishing, enjoyed the beautiful quiet lake and the accommodating property. The owners were a pleasure to communicate with and when there was an error on the booking site they honored the details of the trip in our favor. Would highly recommend this property!

The perfect quiet lake getaway!
If you’re looking for a quiet, cozy place to get away and see more loons and eagles than people, this is your spot. Our family of 5 had a lovely time and we can’t wait to get back. We enjoyed kayaking, canoeing, fishing off the dock, swimming, s’mores around the campfire, and just the quiet time around the cabin. Looking forward to our next getaway!

Great property
The home and property were even better than expected and there was really good communication with the owners. We had a great time with the kayaks and the canoe and there was good fishing on the lake. We would definitely stay again if we come back to Hayward.

Birkie Weekend
Such a great location, with warmth and coziness. We had a wonderful time catching up with ski friends and participating in another Birkie weekend. Our home had everything you needed to cook your own meals, relax with fire place and TV, or watch the sunrise in the morning over the lake. It was -20F but we still snowshoed around the lake which we accessed from the dock. Cabin was beautifully decorated and has in-floor heat - so amazing especially when it was so cold! Highly recommend for a winter get away.
