The loft is a great place to stay if you’re in the area for hiking and/or wine tasting. Central location, clean and comfortable beds. Would stay here again and definitely recommend!

My husband and I enjoyed our trip so much! It was the perfect location for the wine trail. There is the neatest bourbon bar across the street. I definitely recommend stopping by there, as it has the coolest atmosphere. The home was very clean and in a quiet area. It was definitely a place we would stay again. I’ve already recommended it to others.

Great property. Stayed here 10 years ago. Still wonderful. We we here by accident for a wonderful Hispanic festival. Also enjoyed the bourbon bar down the street. Won’t wait 10 years to visit again!

Great location to visit the wine trail. Property was very clean & loved the lush towels. The mattress was softer than I prefer. The living room furniture was comfy but faux leather cracked. The snack basket was a nice touch.

We loved it, and will absolutely rent it again, it was clean, comfortable, cozy, the hot tub was perfect after a day on the wine trails and at the bourbon bar!

This loft is a perfect location close to several wineries in the area. Little traffic moved on the Main Street and this cabin is across the street to the Havisham Bourbon bar. There is a "Duty" store at the end of the block to purchase ice, snacks, and soda. The only annoyance was several dogs that roamed the street barking every night.

Our stay was very pleasant, very clean unit which was stocked with plenty of coffee and snacks for our three night stay. Perfect location to enjoy the Shawnee wine trail.

My fiance went to SIU and lived in the area for a total of 8yrs, so he has been wanting to take me to Carbondale, Giant City, and many of the wineries in the area. The stay in Alto Pass is charming, I've never stayed in a 300 person town.
We stayed in the front unit and it was comfortable, and extremely clean... no dust bunnies, left over food, or random unwanted hairs in sight lol.
The town itself does have short trail right outside the front door, a small corner store, and a bourbon bar across the street. There is also a winery 3minutes driving.
We will be back for SIU events and hopefully we'll be able to stay in alto pass again!

This was the cutest little place to stay. The entire town was so friendly. The little boutique down the sidewalk was adorable. So close to everything we needed. I will be back, for sure

What a neat little place! Great spot for a local wedding, wine tasting, and hiking. Southern Illinois has a lot to offer and this place was perfect for our stay. Very clean. Host was fantastic with great communication!

Everything was described accurately. We had everything we needed. Kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to cook a couple of meals. The place was clean comfortable. Check out the Bourbon bar across the street.

We went for our 29th Anniversary and stayed in the front unit of Alto Loft. We loved everything about it. It was absolutely spotless, well decorated, very comfortable, and in a great location with wineries just minutes away and a unique and beautiful Bourbon Bar across the road. We would recommend this place to anyone. It made for a fun, relaxing get away.

We stayed at the house for 4 nights. There is so much to do in the area, we wanted to stay longer. There is great hiking, great wineries and breweries. The Havisham Bourbon Bar is just across the street and a great place to relax and have a drink. The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable. It was easy to get into and parking was very easy. Hope to come back again someday.

We loved our visit to Alto Pass as we were meeting our great grandson. The area is very relaxed and quiet. The property is very well maintained and is extremely comfortable. Food storage is somewhat limited . Beds were comfortable . We will definitely stay here again when we return next year. Steve was very helpful with the one issue we had and it was resolved immediately.

My wife and I stayed here to do a simple getaway for our anniversary. The Loft is well equipped and was clean and comfortable. We felt at home there. Steve was quick to answer any questions we had. We enjoyed the trail which is just steps away from the rental. It was a nice quiet town. Not much in the town but the country store and a little clothing shop. But it’s a very cute town. And close to the wineries. Plenty of restaurants in towns close by. We highly recommend checking out The Iron Whisk in Cobden for breakfast or brunch.

We stayed in the front part of the building, and found it very nice. We appreciated the spices for cooking, and the basket of snack foods was a nice touch. It's within walking distance of an easy, level, shaded, nature trail, that used to be a railroad I think. We enjoyed our hikes on the trail. It was very secluded. There's a convenience store on the other end of the plaza, also within walking distance. We were glad for it as we needed a few small items. The only issue we had was that the wifi network was not functioning. They had provided a password but the network didn't show up. So service was spotty to nonexistent. (Not a big deal for us.) There were 3 wineries close by. We explored all three. We also enjoyed sitting out front on the bench and watching the world go by as the sunset and it cooled off.

Our only complaints was the bedrooms got a little warm at night. The owner did provide fans in each room though, which was a nice touch. And the connection for the tv wasn’t the best, as it kept cutting in and out. Since we didn’t watch much, it wasn’t a big deal, just something to be aware of.
Overall a good stay and would most likely stay again when in the area!

We had a nice stay at the alto loft. Easy check in, great proximity to the wine trail and hiking, and nicely updated, clean space.

The location is really ideal, as it’s a few minute drive to 3 wineries (Alto Vinyards, Van Jakob and PeachBarn) and hiking places. Take a 10-mile drive into Cobden and eat at the Old Route 51 BBQ, but get there early as they sell out fast during the day (no dine-in service). We got the burnt ends and definitely get the Mac -n-cheese (holy hell it was delicious)! . There’s also a small cute winery in Cobden called Lincoln Heritage Winery. Definitely a great location if you’re looking for a fun weekend getaway!
