Our stay was the 4th time we stayed at Kates Cottage. We had stayed years ago before the addition was added. WE love this house, its location, the wind blowing through the pines and the friendly neighbors. We will try to vacation here again if not next season then as soon as possible. Thanks to the owners and the great staff at Harbour Rentals.

Sweet little house. It had everything we pretty much needed. Only issues were that it was dusty everywhere/had bugs smashed here and there on the walls. It needs a good deep clean. The master was really nice nice, but we don't believe that the wall unit was working correctly. It was pretty warm in the master bedroom all the time. We did contact the management about it and they brought us an extra fan right away and said they would check on both issues.We would still stay there again.

This house has a great screened-in porch, where we ate all our meals, and a good-sized well-outfitted kitchen (but we should have brought our small cast-iron frying pan). The only drawback was a strong odor of something like a disinfectant when we arrived. That took a while with windows open to clear out, but as the weather was pleasant, this was easily done.

This place was perfect for us! The cottage was roomy and comfortable and the neighborhood was great for walking our dog (and reconciling him to being cooped up in his crate while we were at the beach). The porch was a nice place to relax, and the enclosed outdoor shower was convenient to the back door. We plan to come back!

This rental was really cozy and fit the bill for our vacation needs. There are lots of great activities nearby and it’s a central location for many of them. Not sure why the noise ordinance allows construction to begin at 7am in a town that is a vacation destination? Three days straight we were awoken by the banging and hammering of a construction crew working on a deck/addition directly behind us. It felt like the hammer was driving a nail directly into our house!

The house isn't is a bit worn and it needs to be sprayed for roaches. My family even took photos of them and turned them off a bit. The window shades need to be replaced with mini blinds as well for more privacy.

We stayed at Kate's cottage and had a good overall stay. The cottage is cute and the area is great close to everything. The cottage could use some updates though. The couch had a strong dog smell (and we stay at a lot of dog friendly properties), the beds were semi comfortable and master bathroom tub was draining slowly. Screened porch was great.

The house is well placed on Piney Island, close to the bridge to Assateague. There is an abundance of wildlife in the area and it's very quiet. The house has all you'd need: beach chairs, boards, an umbrella, etc. and it's pet friendly. It also has a lot of dust, dirt and cobwebs. It seems the area beyond the bathrooms and kitchen hadn't been cleaned in a long, long time. So, we had to do our own clean up, which isn't the first thing you want to do on vacation. However, the price, location and pet accommodation make up for that.

It's small, but the addition is nice, and it has everything you need. The location is perfect - Piney Island is close to the Refuge, quiet, and there is a canoe/kayak put-in in the neighborhood you can use. You can also walk to a convenience store which also makes subs and good soups. Being allowed to bring our dog is a nice perk. This was the first house we ever rented on Chincoteague, 11 years ago, and even though we've generally moved on to bigger, fancier houses, my daughter requested we return to Kate's Cottage this year as she's heading off to college in a couple of days and is very sentimental. Harbour Rentals is very responsive to any questions or concerns.

Very nice neighborhood. Liked the screened porch. Nice, basic little house with a few problems. Quite a bit of animal hair on the floors, which let us know they hadn’t been cleaned before our arrival. The couch smelled so much like ‘dog’ that we couldn’t use it without smelling the same way ourselves. But the real concern is that there is a mold issue there. Those with allergies, like myself, should beware. Steps to ameliorate that should be taken. We eventually left a day early because of it. Despite those problems we did enjoy our stay.

The two things that drew us to Kate's Cottage were the location and the fact that it allows pets. It was quite adequate as a place to stage our short vacation, but it was not without some annoyances. Light bulbs were burned out in the living room. The man bathroom toilet seat will not stay up. Bedroom air conditioners were very loud. The beach gear was useless as the chairs were bent, rusted or broken. The place had a musty smell when entering. The back bedroom ceiling fan rattles and is noisy. The overall property needs some TLC - pressure washing, etc. Be aware that the rental company expects the guests to clean the place so if dishes are left unwashed from the last guest (which is what we found) that's what you will find. Water access consists of a kayak launch that is not marked and two roads over. For the price, it was a good find. I recommend it as long as you know what to expect and can live with the shortcomings.

We love this house and where it is. Has had some major space upgrades since our last stay. Owners need to upgraded the AC in the living room very noisy. They also need to resupply the silverware and dinnerware. The house sleeps 6 to 8, however there was only 4 forks to eat with. You have to resort to plastic utensils and paper plates to get by. Beyond that because of the location and pet friendly status of the house is a winner. We would love to come back to Kate's.
