Wonderful location and a very clean unit.

Unfortunately, we found the accommodations to be subpar. The place was not clean. We found several items left from previous guests which indicated that the staff had not cleaned the drawers prior to our arrival. There was a half bottle of wine with the neck broken and left in the fridge....why? It's unfortunate since the location is superb. It is one of the best in La Jolla. Because of these and other reasons, I cannot recommend nor would we ever return to this particular property. I cannot believe this has a 5 star rating.

We loved our stay here. It was perfect from the view and the most comfortable bed ever, to the climate and atmosphere surrounding this place. We were able to contact our host, Simon any time we had a need or question and got a quick response each time. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks Simon!

The views from this property were spectacular! It was very clean and had everything we needed. We appreciated being able to park in the garage. The host Simon was very responsive when we checked in and everything was perfect so no need to contact him again. Great restaurants within walking distance. "The Kitchen" at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego had a creative and delicious breakfast and lunch menu. We'd definitely book this again!

There is not enough space here for me to fully describe this experience but I will be writing to VRBO separately. In essence, the view was spectacular but the unit itself was unbearable. It was stinky, musty, and mildewy with little to no ventilation even with the windows open. There were used toiletries in the bathroom drawers as well as trash in the bathroom trash can when we arrived. The vent was covered in a thick layer of grime and dust and clearly hadn't been cleaned in months. Rust, tarnish, and dirt lurked in every corner and neither the patio nor balcony had been swept. The frayed wiring to the fire alarm system was open and hanging down drooping unattached wires everywhere. The panel was not locked and clearly was not in working order. The soap dish was full of mold/dirt and the patio chairs were filthy and stacked in a corner. There were drips and spills on the staircase as well. In fact, it was so unpleasant that my mother and I couldn't bear to stay another night and drove two and a half hours back to the desert the next morning. The view was indeed spectacular but the experience certainly was not. I have photos that are time stamped and dated to back up all of these claims. I am extremely disappointed in the owner's response to what I think is a fair solution. Be very wary before spending your money on such an uncomfortable and unclean living environment. An old house is one thing but a neglected house is another.

Simon’s property is absolutely incredible. The location, the space, and the views were more than we could have hoped for.

It was the perfect getaway. The view from the balcony was amazing. We spent hours just sitting and relaxing. The kitchen didn't have a stove but there is a grill and flat top on the back balcony. But also, i had no intention of cooking so it was fine. The floor was a little dirty and the rug needed a vacuum, but the character of the place made up for it.

So, I wasn't actually going to write this because there were a few problems with this property. But since I received a reminder to post it from the host here goes. Plus side: VIEW, location for sure, dogs allowed. Negatives: amenities (coffee, towels, shampoo, etc) were definitely subpar. Old used shampoo bottles, no body wash or other type of soap (no washcloths either). We had to scrounge around in the empty downstairs unit for some basic items. However, all that said, for a couple, the views and the location were not to be beat (there is a larger unit downstairs). Also, when we were there unit was very quiet. If you have a large truck, the parking garage will NOT work and you will have to either be gone all day or move your vehicle every 2 hours if there is another lodger). For dog ppl. beaches close by do not allow dogs during daytime hours. There were a few broken items on the property, but we were able to deal with them.

This place was perfect to relax and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean waves! When we first arrived we weren’t sure if the cleaners were done cleaning or not. There was a cabinet door open, blankets disheveled in the closet, and the door to the balcony was open. I contacted the owner about our check-in but never received a response. Everything appeared to be clean so we just unpacked to begin our vacation. We could walk to many places, but we don’t mind walking a mile or more for dining. The pictures accurately represent this rental. We totally enjoyed our visit and had everything we needed while we were there. You are just steps from the ocean, but there is no need to leave your room to enjoy it!

Lovely Experience!

We were in town to run the La Jolla half marathon race. The property was located approximately half a mile from the finish line, expo, and shuttle buses to the start line. The location was perfect for the race and we were across the street from the ocean which we really enjoyed. The property was really nice and was the perfect size for the three of us. The only issue that we encountered was the internet went out one day but Simon (the owner) immediately got to working on it to get us back online. We would definitely stay there again.

This apartment, one of several in a vintage building just off the gentle cliffs in LA Jolla is quirky, charming and comfortable. After some initial communication issues with our hosts which were resolved, we found our one night stay to be just fine. It overlooks the ocean, is just a few minutes walk from. everything that La Jolla has to offer and it's quite charming in its eclectic design and decor. Overall experience was a solid 4 out of 5, and we would return now that we understand the specifics of this particular rental.

Awesome place. Very comfortable. On the ocean. Everything walkable. Saw the seals and sea lions everyday. Had a great time.

This beautiful gem is located literally on the beach! The upstairs unit is clean, with nice amenities. The king size bed is comfortable and our favorite spot in the condo was the balcony. We sat for hours, enjoying the ocean, watching the boats, kayaks, marine life and people! The sunsets were spectacular!! We loved being able to walk to the beach in 30 seconds and spend hours there! We will be back!

Unforgettable view and neighborhood!!! Strangely we were not provided soap at the bathroom sinks or in the shower. We took the pump soap from the kitchenette and used it at the bath sinks and thankfully had soap in our Dopp kit for the shower. The cleanliness was ok but not too notch. For example, the lamp was dusty, found a used QTip under bath sink etc. It is no doubt nearly impossible to keep the windows and deck clean…an attempt would be nice for price of the room. To be greeted with bottled water in the fridge after long travels would be a welcomed touch. A glorious retreat!!

This property was easy to access and find tucked into the corner to give you beach views and natural sounds of the ocean. Beautiful indoor decor high vaulted ceilings. The bathtub provided for a relaxing soak to take off the tension of the day. Only negative thing was the garage clicker worked when we departed for dinner and wouldn’t open upon our return. The thought of having shampoo, conditioner was a nice touch in case you forgot to pack yours.

Breathtaking views along the ocean tide-pools. Internet/tv was a little slow. Very walkable, if you’re fit for some hills.

Can't get any closer to the beach. Breezy windows and two separate patio/balcony areas. Bathroom was amazing. For a tiny kitchen, well equipped. Rental was stocked with enough to get you started. Clean place, smelled nice. Overall quiet area, birds can be noisy. Walkable area and lots of e-scooters around. We'd stay here again.

Perfect location in La Jolla, right across from the tide pools! Beautiful views from the top deck and the perfect place to relax after walking around the town as it's close to lots of good restaurants. The area was quiet and we were able to keep our window open all night without disruption. There was someone below and we barely heard them. The place did need a bit of cleaning, lots of hair on the furniture and ground, plus the towels were stained. We had a rental car (Toyota Camry) and it barely fit in the garage with less than an inch to spare. Luckily there is plenty of street parking so we ended up using that instead of struggling to park in the garage every night, especially since there was already a SUV in there from the other tenants. The thermostat for the property controls both the upstairs and downstairs units. We initially turned it down when we got there since it was hot, and the next morning we woke up sweating since the downstairs tenants had cranked it up over night. Every night became a tug of war of sorts over the temperature, but we eventually landed in the middle. Not a huge inconvenience but more an annoyance to deal with. Overall, the location of the home outweighs the negatives and it was the perfect place for a few nights.

Location and accommodations were perfect! Check in and communicating with host was very easy. We would stay again!

This property is in a perfect place with a perfect view. Listening to the waves was relaxing. We saw dolphins and seals from looking out over the ocean. There’s a great walking path down the coast.

Great location in La Jolla, we chose to rent a car but didn’t use it in the two days we were there! Wonderful view of the ocean from the unit! We hope to be back to this unit at some point soon!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The view and location were the best! Walked to several great restaurants. The coast walk during high tide was amazing. The room was just what was described, and we loved it.

I really enjoyed my stay. There were several things that needed to be cleaned that I had to do. Balcony was very dirty. I had to hose off all the furniture. Dog hair covered the ottoman. No hand towels or paper towels Dried up contact lenses left on the night stand. Laundry left in the dryer Eye mask and ear plugs under the bed Coffee pot filthy

Initial access to the unit was a challenge as the instructions were not clear. Simon came within 15 minutes to help. The garage barely fit our SUV. If there’s another car, it would be an extremely tight squeeze. The location and shower were the best part… and that’s it. The large screen TV had many channels. There were many remotes but luckily found the one that did work. Even though we occupied the upstairs unit, we could hear the tenants downstairs as if they were stomping above us. Somehow the noise transfer in that structure was very strange. The closet could use a paint job. The kitchen was stocked with a mixture of whatever one could find at a Salvation Army/Goodwill or 99 cents store. Ditto for the bathroom toiletries. The blinds are controlled by one remote control. Unfortunately, the balcony door blinds did not work, so these blinds never close. Simon tried fixing but had to call for service which never came. The balcony doors look out to the main street and ocean. The morning sun came thru preventing us from sleeping in. While the comforter was very nice, the mattress was the worst. It was lumpy. Every morning, we woke up with severe body aches and we were limping. We couldn’t take another day of no sleep. So we ended up leaving a day early, foregoing the last day of rent. Simon was very kind and the location can’t be beat. The property has lots of potentials but I regret we’re not able to give this 4-5 stars at this point.

This home is the most memorable vacation rental I’ve ever stayed in! The location is incomparable and you’ll wish you were still there the second you return home. The sound of the waves is extremely relaxing, the bedding is super comfy, and the bathroom is definitely one of the highlights of the property. Working at the desk with the ocean in front of me is something I’ll never forget. The host was also very friendly and you can tell they take great pride in this home. You will not be disappointed if you decide to stay here. I’m already planning and looking forward to my next visit :-)
