The location was great, within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops, and the gorgeous coastline. Our room was spacious and had a fireplace which we enjoyed. We didn't use the heated pool or hot tub but next time!

Had a peaceful relaxing stay in a well maintained hotel with great service.

I only stayed one night. The shower head was not working and the door is so high that I could see the light from the hallway, I had to put a towel down to prevent this.

The staff was wonderful. Very easy to check in. The room was great and we are enjoying our stay!!!

Was an okay stay. When we checked into our room and opened the bathroom, there were so many dead gnats all over the floor. I opened the toilet and there were like 15 just floating in there. It didn't bother me too much though I just plugged up the cracks in the window, cleaned the floor and shut the bathroom door when it wasn't in use and it was fine. The AC was broken though; we got really hot one night and turned the thermostat to 65 degrees. We woke up an hour later sweating to the unit blasting out hot air and the room was at 80°. Tried calling the front desk for about a half hour but no one answered. I don't blame them though it was midnight and maybe there just wasn't anyone to cover the shift. Overall it was fine, nothing inherently bad about the stay. It was a very large room and the sheets and bed were clean. Probably won't stay again but it really wasn't that bad. Free breakfast was nice.

I like that Monarch Resort is in Pacific Grove and out of the hustle and bustle of Monterey. It is also close to the end of the peninsula and beaches and tide pools and golf courses

Great location, close to the coastline, plenty of safe parking, smooth and friendly check in, very cozy room, very clean, fluffy & soft towels, super soft extra blanket available, fireplace presto log made the ambiance tranquil, quiet, romantic. A bountiful spread of food choices continental breakfast the next morning. WOW! We will be back. Did not use the available pool and hot tub as it was too cold outside for us @ 63 degrees.

This property is clean and comfortable for the most part. It is definitely dated and could stand to be updated but I appreciated it for what it was. Also, they do have nice touches like real plants throughout the hotel, flowers in the lobby, and the best continental breakfast I’ve come across in a long time. I wouldn’t stay here for a special occasion but I would stay here again!

It was nice stay overall.

Our stay at the Monarch was pleasant and we would return again. However, the rooms are tired looking and are in need of updating. In addition our sink and bathtub drains did not drain well. Breakfast was provided which was very nice and appreciated. The staff providing breakfast were attentive and it was nicely presented. Very clean. They could use a little larger space for sitting.
