Nice hotel very well located, the beach is awsome.

Room had quite a few bugs - mosquitoes, roach, spider. A few stains on the bedding. The shower head had green film on it. Otherwise it was great! Hotel staff friendly, very quiet, and beautiful.

The breakfast was outstanding! Staff were friendly and helpful. The whole place was exceptionally clean.

Second time staying at Playa Azul and was great again. Staff is friendly and happy and willing to help with anything. Quiet and not crowded, private beach. Taxi’s are available in just a few minutes. Restaurant is delicious with many options if you want to just stay there and eat. Breakfast selection is wide. We will definitely return to Playa Azul once again on our next visit to Cozumel.

All staff were very friendly and helpful in all matters. Lovely site with great beach location. Great dining across the street. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return if we ever go back to Cozumel.

The food has been great here and at nearby restaurants. The snorkeling is easy and awesome. Room is ok. Clean, big, great shower pressure but a bit musty. Nice beach and pool, comfy lounge chairs.

No complaints.

I probably shouldn't broadcast here but this is the best value Hotel on Cozumel ... full breakfast buffet with omelets to order included; fabulous ocean front property with it's own private beach; wonderful spanish ambience; and the staff it top notch. You'll love this place once you discover it for yourself and it's the only hotel we stay at when visiting Cozumel.

Small quiet boutique hotel, safe and away from all the cruise ship hustle and bustle. It’s a $10 taxi ride to any of the great restaurants in town.
10.0
Beautiful property! The staff was stellar and you can walk into the ocean and snorkel from there. Close to downtown 10 min drive, and far enough away to escape the crowds. Close enough to
Do some shopping, dinning in town. Will be back for sure!

We met people who have returned here over again so they must do something right.
We booked because of the"great tub room" near the ocean which is different than pictures and the snorkeling which was ok but weather was a bit off.
Most staff were friendly and genuine. But sevice was spotty by a couple of people. The gentlman making eggs in the morning was incredible in that he tried to keep sevice up to a standard on what looked like staff shortage?
One morning before a dive trip i grabbed a muffin to go and was scolded and was told only allowed this time to take food out of restaurant? Never happened to me before.
We enjoyed ourselves and food is good for a couple of days. Ate at great restaurants nearby for others.
That being said
Pool cushions were ripped
Only 2 bottles of water provided in room per day
1 roll of toilet papper!?
Penny pinching?
Housekeeper missed our room cleaning one day, another day they were so late we were getting ready for dinner when they were cleaning the room. Guess i forgot the "first day" tip rule for them.
Wish we would have picked a cheaper room at half the cost as another couple did if i knew this was going to be the case.
Was really looking forward to this stay from the amazing reviews but left a little disapointed

It was such a gem, 11years ago, but has gone downhill. They allow pets which has consequences. They don’t keep beach areas tidy. Both beach and room towels are a hassle. Food is great I will add. I love this place, but felt disappointed.

The reception and service staff are great!!!! The breakfasts and general food menu are good too. However, the hotel is now looking more old and tired. It appears the new management is not dealing with the core issues like plumbing, electrical, cleaning the beach, replacing towels (apparently due to a broken dryer that wasn’t fixed for 6+ months), no “no smoking” signs or enforcement and still allowing guests to smoke on the beach and beach bar (even though there’s been a Mexican law in place for the past year).
Unless changes are made, it may be time to move on after going here for the past 20 years. Sigh!

The property
Here is an accurate review as it seems that the 10/10’s are false or paid for.
The property is old. The room musty. The plumbing was slow and backed up and needed to be fixed twice which put us down in the lobby bathroom.
The Staff
Front desk
It started off wrong when we arrived at 250 for a 3 oclock check in and were told the room wasnt ready. 20 min he said. 30 min later it was 20 more min. Till it got to be 430 and then 15 m more till we got to our room at 445. It had been a long day of travel.
Cleaning gal was the best part of the staff as she was extremely nice and attentive, however room service dishes sat in front of rooms and on tables the entire day and seemed to be apart of the decorations. The rest of the staff hates its guests. It seems a smile is an abstract concept especially the restaurant personal. The breakfast crew talks to each other as if they cant be bothered and looks offended if you ask for coffee. The dinner crew talks to each other while your food sits on a tray and gets cold and then brings you the extremely overpriced plate to you and then ignores you as they walk away without giving you utensils. Do not order a pizza as it is frozen and soggy. Don't order dessert as it is old and the ice cream looked as if it had been the scrapings from the edge of the container. In general the place is on its way to decline and has no pride. Like their staff.
The ocean was convenient and the dive shop professional.

Great location for snorkeling. The reef is super healthy and full of fish. The staff is very nice. We liked that breakfast in included with egg and waffle stations. The pool and beach is nice too. The building and rooms are dated but clean. I would recommend the hotel.

10 min north of town, nice and quiet away from the cruise ship craziness. Just right size to have everything including dive shop on site. Beach easy to use and snorkelling is good. Restaurant has good variety and quality. Secure site and friendly staff. Suites very luxurious . Recommend

In the north part of the island. Nice neighborhood, beach is beautiful, people nice and friendly. Building old needs some remodeling. Great breakfast included on the rate.

Nice place. Great room, and beautiful location on the beach. Great snorkeling right off the beach.

The palapa bar and restaurant were great. Perfect for our group (2 couples.) Bartenders were fantastic!
It would have been nice to have been able to at least sit around the pool, but it was closed due to some repairs/renovations. The front desk did offer to use the pool at the adjoining property but it did not look very inviting!
We would highly recommend visiting the Lobster House directly across the street for dinner! Excellent food and wonderful musician!

This hotel is so nice, everyone here is awesome. The pool was being worked on when I was here but the other pool was open so that was okay. Beautiful little paradise!

My spouse and I had a wonderful stay over the Thanksgiving week in 2023. This is absolutely the perfect place for anyone who wants a fairly quiet and relaxing beach experience. The on-site dive shop is also first-rate. The rooms do show a small amount of cosmetic aging (an occasional chipped tile for example), but the bedding and all surfaces are clean as a whistle. I put it at a nice Hampton Inn level. The beds are extremely comfortable. The AC works amazingly well. The TVs get mostly Spanish language channels, but you have CNN (for the non-Spanish speakers) AND you easily access the USB ports and HDMI ports to pop in a Firestick or USB thumb drive with movies if you like (Netflix worked great over my Firestick by the way). Wifi is good and works throughout the property. Food is quite decent and reasonably priced in my opinion, especially for a hotel. The included breakfast EVERY day had fresh waffles made for you if you want, and a chef that made any type of eggs that you desire (plus fruit, all the fresh squeezed OJ you want, and a random sampling of I believe 8 hot dishes that you could "self-serve", typically sausage and potatos were part of that). You can walk across the street and there are three great restaurants (great burgers, steak, lobster, etc.), and there is the Key Lime Pie factory which offers to-go pies. The snorkeling directly in front of the hotel is a solid and you see lots of fish and some coral if you swim up or down the beach. Overall A !

The hotel is really nice, but the rooms need to be tarted up, they are a little old. Overall it was a good stay!

This hotel is in the Olde Hotel Zone & I’m so Happy about the location. After the hustle and bustle of El Centro, the bars’ loud music and the Cruise Ship Masses; it was wonderful to come back to this hotel. Just a short car ride away but SO worth it ! Staff are helpful and attentive. The whole facility was always clean and maintained. The junior sweet at 700sft was spacious and very comfortable. Couldn’t ask for better Tranquil setting ! Most of the clientele are multiple return clients. We’ll be back !
