My wife and I celebrated our 28th Wedding Anniversary at 20 South Battery and had a wonderful stay at the property. The staff was very welcoming and addressed all our needs. The location is great within walking distance to many bar, restaurants and shopping. Highly recommend!

A beautiful place, the antique furnishings are amazing felt like a museum. Everyone on the staff went out of their way to make sure that our stay was exceptional. Great location, delicious breakfast and wine and charcuterie plate every night. We definitely plan to return again.

Lovely property. Loved sitting on the front porch reading and with a bottle of wine. Also the garden. The wine and cheese hour was a very nice amenity. Room was very nice, clean and quiet.

Booked this hotel for my parents as a surprise 70th birthday trip. Exchanged lovely messages with the hotel manager in advance of their trip. They loved their stay, saying: the location, historic building, and staff were fantastic. Both ladies, Abigail and Molly, were super friendly and helpful when it comes to either accommodation or advice on what to see, etc. They offer daily tours of the building to guests where you can learn its rich history. They have nice evening treats for guests like wine, cheese and/or Italian liquor. You can enjoy it either inside, or on the mansion's big terraces and patios. We had a great time there, and we will be happy to visit them again.

This was our first trip to Charleston, and we decided to spend more than we usually would on a hotel in order to stay in a historic area that was walkable to most of where we'd be going. You could choose to stay here because of the location; you could choose to stay here because of the history; you could choose to stay here because of the amenities; but the reason you should choose to stay here is because of the staff. Abbi, Susan, Ryan, and Molly (we LOVE Molly) are absolutely incredible. This staff goes above and beyond expectations at every opportunity. I could list many examples of why, but the basic summary is that 20 South Battery will be the first place we'll try to book the next time we head to Charleston (without kids) again.

We loved the home but the best thing about this hotel is the fantastic staff. The staff was wonderful in their acknowledgment of our wedding across the street from the hotel. We were welcomed with congratulations from every staff member and treated like royalty. Abigail Molly and Ryan were FANTASTIC. This hotel is beautiful and our plan is to return next year for our first anniversary. The hotel is beautiful, the breakfast was outstanding and the wine and cheese in the evening was special as well as the nightcap available before bed. We just cannot praise 20 South Battery enough.

Loved this place it was so full of beautiful antiques and the area was beautiful too! Abbi was so nice and the atmosphere was just wonderful. I can’t wait to visit again in the near future!

Beautiful recently restored mansion with modern conveniences. Very helpful and friendly staff provided nice breakfast, tour of the mansion and many other extras. Perfect place to spend several days in Charleston. We would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful property close to sites. Unfortunately a few days before arriving they had a water leak in main building so didn’t get to see that . Breakfast was sub par need to make a in house breakfast buffet or find a better venue for that . Could also used some blackout curtains in rooms for the room we were in was still bright at night . But we will give it another try on our next trip there

The property is a magnificent old mansion fronting on a park on Charleston Bay, a great and beautiful location. However, the majority of the building was under construction. The staff was very pleasant and attentive when they were around, but they were always somewhere else other than the public areas. Plumbing was a problem in the shower, where the drain was exceptionally slow. We enjoyed the stay but it will be so much better when renovations are complete.

The staff was super friendly and attentive to our every need we absolutely loved the property and our room. We got to briefly meet the owner Jack Schaffer who was very pleasant. The history and the work that he has done to the house or mansion I should say is amazing!

Everything about this place is phenomenal! We broke up our stay in several locations, but i really wish we had just came here for the entirety. Abby and her trainee were above and beyond...with their hospitality and knowledge of Charleston, the mansion and everything in it. It was like staying in a living museum. Ive already started recommending 20 Battery to friends and family

Simply one of the most memorable and enjoyable hotel stays we've had, anywhere. A breathtaking, beautifully restored and immaculate property and gorgeously manicured grounds, lush antique furnishings and impeccable details throughout the buildings...and we've really missed the wonderful bed since we've returned home. So much to rave about - however, the staff made our stay truly remarkable...Abby, Ryan and Susan treated us so well throughout our stay. If we can't book our next stay here, we won't go to Charleston.

A hidden gem! Absolutely a beautiful B & B. Staff and grounds 4/5 star quality. Definitely on our return list of top five we have ever visited!!

This is a painstakingly restored mansion and carriage house attended by the most gracious staff.It is most conveniently located across the street from Battery Park with easy access to all the sights of Charleston. Highly recommend.

The house was beautiful and we enjoyed the stay. The room was very comfortable.

You truly feel like a friend lucky enough to stay at your buddy's beautiful Charleston home in a prime location away from the crazy touristy part. Your friend is out of town but left his staff in charge of looking after you and making sure you have a lovely visit. You have access to exquisitely restored rooms, which complement sightseeing of historic mansions, plantations, gardens and museums. But most of all, you enjoy gracious hospitality in pretty, comfortable rooms. The extras such as delicious breakfast and evening wine and cheese are a treat. Would definitely return when I want a dose of the real Charleston, not tourist Charleston, and am not able to stay with friends.
