It was good enough for two nights. Expensive for no breakfast and no coffee maker in the room. However, it gave us a place to stay while visiting Dry Tortugas NP and the Keys.
Note: the towel holder by the sink wasn’t attached to the wall completely (maybe broken) had to call the front desk to report but no one picks up my calls. Fyi.

Well, overall good. But, the first room rhe water in the shower was hot or scolding. So they had a gentleman come to take care of it and he wasn't able to fix it. They cleaned another room and we moved. The next room you had to take the lid off the yoilet to flush it and the reomote for the TV only had one button on it that worked. But the positive is the rooms were very clean, comfortable and had beautiful views. The restaurant onsite has amazing food. So if you're a go with the flow type of person you'll love it. Luckily we are.😁

The hotel was old but clean. It hasn't been updated in decades.

Awful
Room dirty
They never clean even the next day

The property is well maintained and the overall style comes from the late 60’s or early 70’s. The balcony glass sliding door could not be locked and the room design brought back memories of the past. It uses standard keys which previous guests could make a duplicate of and enter at any time. There is no elevator for the second floor and the stairs are outside. If you are looking for a blast to the past then this will appease the historians.

Not bad if you just need a place to crash. No fishing anywhere on property, and the advertised bar shut down prior to COVID.

No breakfast! Have to drive a distance to eat. Restaurant near by is excellent but pricey. Open for lunch and dinner. Closed Sunday and Monday. No beach. Couldn’t go out sliding doors. Bolted shut. Nice little boardwalk to a grassy lot. The A/C goes off for several hours during the night

It's a nice property, clean and well kept with a relaxing view right by the water. The lady at the front desk was very nice and friendly. Not very far from Key West. Coffee and tea available in the morning. No breakfast. Overall, it was a nice stay.

She switched me rooms when i was stuck between two noisy rooms.

This lodge was very easy to find and the staff was very pleasant. I found the rooms to be spacious, and the scenery was very nice. The cleanliness was excellent, and the beds are very comfortable! My only thing was, I'm a smoker, and the ashtray outside was not clean, but that is my only "complaint ". Otherwise, I'd definitely stay there again!

Good price and location so long as you have means of transportation. Highly recommend a rental car, drive shares, or possibly using the local bus system (?). Rooms are nice for budget traveling and a safe, clean place to sleep.

Love the charactor of the property. It's well kept, has free parking, close to Key West and water views. Only complaint is there was not a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door or in the room without me having to ask for it which resulted in a cleaning person banging on my door shaking me out of my deep sleep to clean my room. It took me a while to calm down from being shaken up. Sign should be in the room for guest to put on the door without a guest having to ask for it.

This is old key style.

It's a two star hotel that is family owned and not huge on big chain amenities. If you can live without a continental breakfast (they do have coffee) it's a great place to stay.

A quiet & peaceful escape. Old fashioned. The desk clerk was absolutely amazing, kind, & helpful.

Sugar Loaf is an older motor lodge with a very quaint feeling to it -- the kind of place I stayed for swim meets as a kid. I would have loved a place like this on the water playing on the shore with teammates while parents sipped beer on the dock. Rooms aren't modern, but clean and well-kept. Lots of nostalgia here! Perfect for a family. I would add a water fountain with filtered water bottle filler in the halls to make it complete.

This was an excellent location for us as it was a short drive from Key West and all other properties were double in price for one night. This was the perfect stay.

We really liked this hotel. the mid-century vibe was so nice. we were on the second floor and had vaulted ceilings, a wonderful view with a nice balcony loverlooking the ocean. Even had a couple of parachuters to look at as they descended to the jump facility next door.
Coffee at the Tiki Bar each morning. Overall very nice stay.

we did not stay at the Sugar Loaf Lodge. We booked the room through Expedia when we were looking for a last minute hotel near Key West to stay one more night. Showed up an hour later and no one was at the office. No one replied to phone calls or door buzzer. Expedia told us that it would take a 'specialist' and 72 hours to get a refund.
