Basic accomodation for minimal price. Space is minimal, but adequate. Biggest nuisance is traffic noise. Even though it is set back from road, it is still busy.

Super clean and comfy, updated. Loved the free zoo passes and fire pit.

Amazing place to stay and is dog friendly!

I had great difficulty due to the extreme heat in my room. I learned there was a repairman there the morning I checked out to work on the system. Other than that I was very pleased with the room. Check in was smooth and there was little street noise. I would recommend.

remodeled, up-to-date rooms, very nice!
deck off the back of the room for relaxing, morning coffee, evening wine.
free bicycles to use(and really nice bikes)
free passes to the Zoo(close by), if that's your thing.

Economy stay, roomy, quiet area. Basic room, but comfortable.

Free bikes and pass for the zoo

The owner is the grandson of the original owner that built the property.
Free passes to the zoo.
Free bike rentals with the trail conveniently located close to the property.
When I wanted bottled water the property didn't not have any but the owner gave me two bottles form his personal supply.
Recommend staying in one of the upper units.

Host was pleasant and professional. Greeted by a well behaved dog, too! Cozy room at a great price. Shower stall could have been a little cleaner....hair left over. Free pass to the zoo was a pleasant bonus. Convenient location...not too far from downtown Duluth, Superior WI, North Shore and Jay Cooke State Park....all of which I visited in my short time there.

Really cozy, clean rooms, nice and quiet, offers free zoo passes for guests, friendly and accommodating staff.

Definitely an older property that the owners tried to fix up, so I give them credit for that.
PROs: It's a holiday weekend and the room wasn't worth the holiday price, IMO. It's in a convenient location south of Canal Park and right on the Munger hiking trail. They allows dogs and have ample yard space for walks and potty time.
CONs: The room was a little cramped for my husband, two dogs, and myself. The Jacuzzi tub was a nice bonus but the jets were weak and therefore non-massaging.
The shower only got hot water if the tub water was running and the shower would run out of hot water if the tub ran too long. The fan in the bathroom and over the tub were both very noisy, and the aesthetic updates were rather shoddy.
We stayed for three nights and we asked for fresh towels and a new trash bag on our 2nd day but never got them so we reused our towels and took out the trash ourselves.
Overall, it fit our basic needs, the tub was a nice bonus despite its issues, and we appreciate that our dogs were welcome there; however, we won't go back.

Good location, upgraded to larger room/nice for a motel. Love the Munger Trail nearby!

My stay was way better than I imaged by the photos! Cute rooms, well cleaned, super friendly owner, lots of amenities-including bikes, zoo passes, grills, a fire pit and free wood. I was expecting less and it exceeded my expectations. Honestly, it might be time for a new mattress, bed was a little saggy in the middle. Other than that, my stay was excellent! I’d for sure go back anytime! I loved the small inn style. Not loud and huge like a hotel and great extras. I vote, stay here and you won’t be disappointed!

Loved this property. If you want high end & glitz this is not for you. However, if you prefer quiet & outdoor amenities this is the one. Jeff is the ultimate host providing free bikes & helmets (4, I believe), free firewood for the fire pits, free grills & a peaceful outdoor garden/fire area that is lovely. Included 4 free passes to the zoo. Didn't use due to time, but another perk. Our room included a microwave, refrig & small refrig. The bathroom was small, but adequate. Happened upon this property for something reasonably priced & now will return again when we are in the area. Very happy with our choice.

No soap or shampoo provided. Stayed 4 nights and room not attended to while our stay there. No clean towels either.

I checked in early, there were not any hand towels I laid down, a housekeeper didn’t knock, just opened the door, surprised to see me lying down resting in the bed.
The bathroom did not have a GFCI outlet in the bathroom near the sink.
The bathroom didn’t have a fan nor a window
There was not a bathroom/shower mat
There was not shampoo nor conditioner. I had to ask for the shampoo
My room was under the owner’s living quarters and things were dropped on the their floor/my ceiling constantly
The outlets were old as they no longer held a plug in them.
For ice, there was a little freezer in front of the office with a bowl, bag of ice, ladle to scoop the ice out.
I stayed for 3 nights, no one checked on/in the room at all. No little signs saying they weren’t going to be checked nor any comments about them not checking in/on the room during my stay.

Enjoyed walking path & campfire pits, definitely will recommend to others

The inn is within walking distance from the zoo, the trans Duluth path, and walking paths to the river.
Staff was very friendly, giving local tips to the neighborhood. The stay is very pet friendly and I met several guests with friendly dogs. The office rents e-bikes. The room was small, but if you utilize the in storage available (shelves, etc), you can keep your room neat.

Stayed two nights exploring the Duluth area. Room was extremely spacious and clean. Courtyard area was beautiful and relaxing. Jeff was very friendly and helpful! Location is very convenient to local attractions while still being away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas. Would definitely stay again. Just for informational purposes, currently there is no breakfast. Free Zoo passes were offered and bikes are available for loan/rent depending on the type.

Absolutely charming motel! Very reasonably priced-we stayed in a king whirlpool room. Very rustic, eclectic decor. Jetted tub was ok, a bit on the small/awkward side, but was nice for a short soak before bed. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous, lots of flowers around, and beautiful foliage in the back, both planted and natural. It's a refurbished property, so there is age, but we thought it added to the charm. It's right on a highway coming in to the city, but couldn't even tell when in the room-we like being off the beaten path a bit, but still close to some fun spots! (Hit up Bent Paddle Brewery & their new Cann A Lounge-cool experience!) We prefer locally owned, small accommodations over big-box hotels, and with FREE zoo passes (right across the street!!) and bikes for riding the trail, TWO bonfire rings with wood provided, and lovely customer service to boot, this place hit it out of the park! The photo I shared was directly outside our door-very serene. We really enjoyed snuggling with Martha, their black lab on site, we missed our fur babies back home! That was a treat! Thank you for a wonderful stay, we'll be back!

Great friendly staff, reasonable rates, great location.

Good value. Close to Duluth without the high price. An old fashioned motel with northwoods room decor. The shower/toilet was the only negative as it was not updated. The sink vanity was updated. We rented the 2 new e-bikes, and had a great time on the nearby Willard Munger Trail.

The owner, Jeff, is extremely hospitable and accommodating. He includes free zoo passes and bike rentals, and provides firewood for the pits and bbqs. We’ll definitely be longing here again!

This was a great place to stop after a few days of camping. Staff was super nice! The room and overall property felt like an actual locally owned and operated place, with cute woodsy decor.

Had the feeling of a cabin in the great north woods. The owner was really nice and cared about our stay. Very quiet at night and a very comfortable bed. I will be staying here again on my next visit

Quiet, clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again!

With all the respects to the owners I can't believe how the people rated this place 8 of 10. Might be because TV and internet programs? The time stopped here 50 years ago. My room I can rate 2 of 10. Uncomfortable bed covered with dark unbreathable bedsheets and the noise like something was scratching the metal.
The shower? Don't let me to say more.

Loved our three days here. Martha, owners dog was a big plus! We were given free passes to the zoo and had a great time. Owner and sister are both wonderful. We will definitely stay here again. We are learning to love West Duluth. The Trophy Cafe for breakfast was delicious. The wait staff was great.

The staff was awesome, and the room was perfect! We were very comfortable here. The only thing that wasn't ideal was the water temp in the shower - it was either ice cold or burning hot. We easily got over this though and still enjoyed our stay very much!

I had a great stay. Owners were very welcoming. My room was just right. Clean, comfortable. Had everything I needed. They did have bikes you could use as there is a bike path behind the property. Would stay again for sure!

They upgraded my room just to give me more space! Great customer service! The room was cute. I loved that the train comes right by. Got a little cold that weekend, so the room was a tad bit cold.
