We normally stay in SLO but decided to try something new and this little place was great! Its an older hotel that is getting some new life (they were doing some renovations while we were there - to other units). The views are really nice and we didn't have a balcony or patio...but enjoyed the little spots to sit and enjoy the view on the path and bigger patio area. Staff was very helpful (our key cards stopped working) and friendly!

The place was under construction and there was construction debris everywhere and when we went out for breakfast Saturday morning we came back, and a semi-truck had blocked all the parking including the spaces where people were parked.

Great place. We had amazing views from our room. Nicely renovated. We travel with three dogs & we were all comfortable & enjoyed our stay. Can’t wait to return.

No beach access. Which was a surprise when we got there. That was one of the main reasons I booked a hotel on the beach. It was just ok for the price.

It’s a construction zone . The lobby says it’s open from 7 am and no one is in the office till 8 or later. My key to my room stopped working and there is no one to help me so I can get my stuff out. I called the number from website and whatever is listed to call and they have no option to reset the key. Waste of money this service.

we got a great room with a wonderful view, unfortunately there is construction going on in part of the building that started at 8am. also there was a barking dog in the room next to us and we had to contact the manager before it stopped.

getaway for my birthday from LA- first time, beautiful view, really nice staff, helpful, clean, great value. Romantic, Dogfriendly, early checkin request granted.

Wish we had known of the major remodeling in progress. The rooms will be a great improvement once complete. The views were great. Pet friendly! Highway traffic noise was excessively loud. Not overly impressed. Maybe will try again when remodel is done. Staff told me it was my fault for not knowing of remodel because we booked thru Expedia. What???

The view is amazing

Sound between rooms was an issue. Luckily we had 2 queens and one without shared wall was quieter.

Grandson found a hair in the sheets, coffee pot worked once, no microwave, broken shutters and windows. Only one outlet so much needed fan and small frig were on same outlet. Very nice carpet, but NO padding so it was quite uncomfortable to walk barefoot on. No breakfast-just coffee in lobby between 6 and 8. Had a great looking fire pit with four chairs however it was all covered up-looked like it was ready for winter.
Bathroom had been updated nicely and was clean however vanity was so close to shower that I almost tripped twice walking away from vanity.
I've stayed at much nicer places that had pools/spas, fitness rooms and breakfast for less that this place charged (especially on for the Saturday rate).

The best thing about the stay was comfortable bed. There was Luke warm water and low water pressure. You can tell water has been adjusted so you cannot get hot water. The steps down to the beach is closed off as looks like no repairs have been made in years. Photos of property make you think you have excellent views to the ocean which is not true. Front desk reports opens at 7 for coffee. No one there at 7 and no coffee ready when went back at 7:30 am.
Was really looking forward to having beach access but was not the case.

This was a dumpy place! No decent lighting. The strangest bathroom ever. Not very clean. No microwave. No beach access. Just subpar in general! The bed was good and the room had Starbucks coffee. Not worth the price.

Well I paid a total of 648.00 for two nights.Overpriced for sure plus the room is nothing, looks like the furniture was picked up from a thrift store or the roadside. The bathroom was refurbished but shower was small and the doors to the shower leaks water on the floor . The carpet is grey with stains smelt like dog PEE that's unacceptable. There are no outlets to charge phones on the night stands in both areas where the beds are placed you would think that would be priority for convenience of guess .I think inns and hotels needs regulation on pricing that's the abuse that costumers has to endure.

I was very disappointed the rooms don’t have AC, I got there and it was very hot inside and outside the room and no AC for a almost $400 room

Quaint, semi updated and clean. Not fancy. We were just passing through and it was a better price than anything else around.

Cheap price didnt look anything like the pictures. No air conditioning in any of the room. Was really hot and stuffy. Decided to leave that place and go stay somewhere else. Glad i sure did. Staff was nice thats about it.

I was in town for work and only stayed one night on cottage #112. I really enjoyed my stay and service. Below is how I rate this property.
Location: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Right on the oceanfront, next door to a brewery and right off the freeway. Great location and property
Cottage functionality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️. I appreciate the updates to the unit but my opinion is putting more attention to details and really updating the units with a real interior and landscape designer would really take this cute charming cottage to the next level and what it really deserves.
Property: ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Really putting some thought and funds into a much better landscape and use of space with more gathering spots and outdoor seating and space would make this location a really great place to hangout.
Cleanliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The cottage and property was clean and maintained.
Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Friendly service and staff

Not a bad location, was clean and beds were comfortable.
But unfortunately, the description of the property, and the amenities were completely false.
Scenic Ocean view, NOT even close. Walk path down to the beach, closed! and has been for a while. Just dirty, very run down. No AC, it wasn't needed, thank goodness, but this is definitely something that should be mentioned in the description. No cleaning, or restock of anything in our room, (we were there for 3 days) they do offer coffee in the morning, in the main office, but not until 8:00. No coffee pot in room.
Pismo overall, was amazing, loved Morro Bay as well.
Will not be going back to The Tides, but will definitely come back to Pismo.

The Tides is an older hotel but is in a great location and was clean. It was perfect for the price and we had a view of the ocean from our window. We drove the PCH from Southern California all the way to Washington and the Tides in Pismo Beach was our first stop. It’s not a luxury hotel but had a clean comfortable bed and a good shower. It’s great for those traveling on a budget.

Definitely needs to continue with renovations. The bathroom is redone and is very nice. Shower is small and doors don't close completely so water gets all over the floor. Front door doesn't have a chain or deadbolt front windows wouldn't close and back window by bed didn't have the latch at all screwed in. Had to call front desk as we felt unsafe. Maintenance had to use a mallet to get windows to close and used a screw into thw window frame to secure the back window. Said they needed to order a whole new latch. Room was decent other than that. Staff was friendly. I'm sire itll improve once they fix these issues.

Room furnishing and finishes low end and tired. Bathroom smelled. Dingy. Convenient location. Partial water view is peekaboo fyi. Terrible WiFi and cell reception. Complained. Didn’t improve. Couldn’t work from here.

It was a very nice stay especially if you have pets. No beach access from this hotel. You have to walk to neighboring hotels to use theirs . The cleaning staff was very friendly

Check in was efficient. Staff was friendly. Room looks attractively remodeled. But wall was paper thin. We can hear normal conversations next door and hard to fall asleep! Also bath look remodeled but sink faucet is not screwed in and pulls out of setting anytime you turned it. Bath faucet hot and cold buttons are reversed.

Obviously, a very old hotel slightly remodeled our bathroom was remodeled. The rest of the room was not smelled like sewer in the room. Did not stay a second night.

Nice clean place, a little old but they are updating it. Great location, staff friendly would recommend.

This stay was just okay. Staff was friendly and responsive. There is a large C-train blocking most of the ocean view, unless you are staying in a cottage. Bad spot to put it, definitely other places it could go in the parking lot that wouldn’t obstruct the view. Need a suggestion? How about under the Tides sign at the front of the parking lot, or in the cottage drive way. The rooms were clean, but felt very cheap. The remote didn’t work half the time we tried to use it, the tv channel options were taking me back to the 90’s. No microwave in the rooms and coffee isn’t available until 8:00am. The shower is TIGHT, I’m 5’5 150LBS and barely fit. Stubbed my toe more than once on the sharp tile corner of the shower frame that is in the middle of the bathroom. Nice water pressure and very hot water, which was great. Probably will stay somewhere else next time.

The beach access was closed and that was the main reason I booked this place. No one mentioned that when I reserved it. The bathroom was really nice but smelled like urine and backed up sewage. You could hear the freeway and there was a crack in the door so someone could see in and I could see out with the door closed. There were bugs in the bed and the room had an old musty smell. It was more like a motel than anything else. For the price, this place was very disappointing. I left early and didn't care that they still charged me. It was that dirty.

We only stayed one night; and while the place is fine/clean/great location, the only issue we had was we were downstairs; and the people above us started making a ton of noise at 5:30AM. I don't believe anyone was on staff at that point; and that isn't the hotel's fault. Overall, I liked the place, and would not have a problem staying there again.

The room smells really bad, dogs pi, and we had a room on first floor and was so noisy you can heard everything, never come back to this property, and overpriced for one night. 1 star hotel.
