Front desk manager has a good sense of humor 😅. Was very accommodating and no issues with my stay there. Shopping area very close you can go walking or in car. Nice board walk of the ocean view

Manager is extremely hostile, ignorant, abrasive, and condescending. You get what you pay for, this was cheap alley trash.

This is a one -story building 2 blocks from the water, so the ocean view is a complete lie. But the room was immaculately clean, and it's walking distance to a grocery store, restaurants, a coffee shop, and a bar or two. Quiet neighborhood as well. Very small place without many amenities, and bed made a lot of noise.

The Bay Inn is my "go to" choice when coming to Norfolk to visit family. Especially in the off season when the motel is a particularly good value, and the laid back beach vibe of Ocean View very inviting. The managers of the Bay Inn live on site, and maintain the property impeccably. Rooms are well set up with what I consider key amenities (mini fridge, microwave, desk for laptop use, roomy shower with good pressure) and devoid of clutter. Always spotlessly clean. Always quiet.

It was very clean and simple. The bed was comfortable. It is small and quaint.

Flies and gnats were in the room, making the experience unbearable. Uncomfortable bed. Entire room smelled moldy. Save your money and go to another hotel.

Nice and clean. Good quick stay for a night. It's near the water. Would definitely go back again. The gentleman at the desk was very pleasant.

We were amazed at the cleanliness of our room. It seemed freshly renovated and painted This was a budget one night stay, and we were very happy to find it was a perfect choice. Plenty of fluffy towels, a microwave, coffee pot, and fridge. Fellow at check-in was efficient and friendly.

Walking distance to the community beach. Enjoyed the court yard and everyone was friendly and helpful.

Definitely a hidden gem! Cute small rooms with fridge and microwave. Less than 5 min walk to beach. Just what we needed.

Room wasn’t cleaned. Staff was rude. I walk into the room and there was old coffee still in the pot and trash in the trashcan. 1/5 stars. Don’t waste your money here.

Classic Inn.

This is the second time I have stayed here. Check in was easy and even though I arrived a little early, a room was available and I was allowed to check in. The room was very clean and well prepared. There is short walk to the beach and even though the weather was iffy, I enjoyed seeing the water. I enjoyed my short time there and highly recommend the Bay Inn.

I loved this place. I needed a simple, clean place to sleep at night. I didn't need a pool or exercise room. I did not need, nor want, to pay for anything luxurious. In this regard, it was perfect.

The owner was accommodating and friendly.

Excellent hotel! Out of the way and quiet!

Got to the hotel and the guy looked like he was on something. Extremely rude and cancelled my reservation. Like 2 other people reported, I don't think he likes younger people. I stayed at a best western instead, was very nice. There was also half parking spaces, almost no room to park.

Honestly I wasnt sure what to expect when I pulled up. However the gentleman at the front desk made checkin smooth. I wasnt prepared for what I saw when i got to the 'harden' & in my room. Beautiful, clean, kept up, etc. As a solo traveler I felt safe & it was so close to the beach. I wish they had rooms with 2 beds; itd be perfect for my son & I.

Friendly, simple, independent hotel chain, room faces pretty garden courtyard, 5 minute walk (at most!) to beach, playground, parks, several restaurants, supermarket and shopping center all nearby.

The best hotel I've ever stayed.

The property was clean, secure, and had great easy beach access. Overall, a great stay. My qualm: the mattress. Oh my god, that evil mattress. It felt like I was sleeping on a sack of bricks. I've quite literally had more comfortable sleeps on a camping cot, or a sleeping bag on a hardwood floor. That mattress was plain evil. Every single time I made even the slightest movement, the springs creaked and squeaked so loud that it woke me up, which is quite the accomplishment considering I typically sleep like a comatose log, so I'm not only in pain but also sleep deprived. The amount of back pain that I currently have from that mattress is not only infuriating, but debilitating. Its hard to focus on anything else during my trip here because the back pain is screaming at me. I don't have any sort of chronic back pain that would cause this. It's from the mattress. I don't understand how a hotel can have both a touch screen electronic bathroom mirror and a mattress that felt like it has been there since the 1980s in the same room. That mattress is just plain disrespectful to your customers. I don't know how I'm going to survive the 7 hour drive home with this much pain. I will not be returning here literally just because the mattress is that bad. I don't want to be sleep deprived or in pain the entire time I'm out somewhere. The owner should try looking into Purple brand mattresses or something of the like, or even just an updated model if you insist on having springs in it.
