Good condition everything

The Hillside Motel was great! Such a warm welcome from the staff. The Motel is surrounded by gorgeous views! The room was just perfect and so incredibly clean! I would definitely stay again!

It was fine. Very small & could use some updates

The staff at Hillside were fabulous! They were all very friendly, eager to please, and helpful. Cell signals are poor in the mountains so they printed directions for us to get around. The rooms are older but very clean and comfortable. There was a nice sized fridge with freezer in the room, microwave, and coffee maker with coffee and creamer. The shower pressure was great! The price was better than other places in area as well.There are only 2 things that need improvement for us. 1) the wifi did not work -none of the network names nor password worked. We need signal due to an elderly relative and animals at home. 2) the mattress was foam, seemed old, and was very soft. they did have a nice enclosed bed cover on it though. If the cell/wifi service would work, we would definitely stay here again.

Quietly

The motel had a strong chemical smell. Beds were comfortable. It was adequate, but not worth the money.

very convenient to the national park. Was nice to be able to sit out side on the porch in the nice weather. Great helpful staff.

The room was in poor condition. The tub dripped, The toilet ran and made noise throughout the night. The shower curtain was rusted out. The furniture was old and decor and the bed creaked. Located right on a highway so noisy. The staff was not accessible even during limited office hours. It had received a rating of 9 totally incorrect. They also charged a surcharge for using credit cards which made it expensive.

Everything in the room is older, like 25 years old or more, except the TV and Wi-Fi, however it’s all very clean and welcoming. If you’re expecting a 5 star motel you might want to look elsewhere. They have everything you would need from coffee maker to ice machine, even a small refrigerator to put in any leftovers from your restaurant visits. Will definitely stay here if traveling through Luray again.

Pleasant roadside motel on the outskirts of town. Great price and great location for an impromptu visit to the mountains to see the fall foliage. The staff were all very nice.

Well I wasn’t going to say anything but think others need to know. The hotel is very outdated. Needs new carpet, furniture and many other items. Parking lot was very dimly lit and sign wasn’t lit up very well to entrance. Bathroom fixtures at bathroom sink kept popping off. Door wasn’t locked but cracked open on the dark side of the hotel. when we arrived. We just were displeased with hotel and how pictures looked much better online than the real thing.

The Hillside Motel is an older property. The room I stayed and had a double bed. I would say the room was mostly clean, with the exception of the bathroom floor. The bathroom at self needs some updating. Check-in was easy, and there was a key drop for check out (which is at 10:30 AM). There are other rooms with pictures on Hotels.com, but not the room I was in. It was fine for one night, but the owners need to consider updating the room, especially the bathroom.

It's a small Motel with plenty of charm!!

It seemed clean but the room had a horrible musty smell I guess in the carpet. I sprayed air freshener on the carpet and curtains and it didn’t help. At 4:30am, we were woke up by such strong smell of weed that clearly someone was smoking right outside our door. The staff was way less than friendly. Wouldn’t stay here again.

This is a motel probably from the 60's. Staff was nice but did not clean room and empty trash though did replace towels. Internet was useless. Water pressure low and no hot water for showers in the morning. Needs more hot water tanks and better internet hardware. Is over priced for the condition it is in.

What a great stay! Comfortable, inviting, friendly, clean, and cozy! We stayed here as our base for exploring Shenandoah. While it is a little bit of a drive to amenities like shopping or dining, we loved how peaceful the area was. It's also not far from the entrance to the national park, so very convenient if you plan on visiting. Our room was very comfortable, plenty of room to stretch out. We also appreciated that the shower had good pressure and the head was high enough for my tall husband. Despite being on the highway, it was very quiet. My only critique is that the wi-fi was spotty and a little slow, but that is to be expected in a more remote location so we didn't mind. Future travelers: if you pay with cash, you can save some money! Overall, it just felt so welcoming, which was great after a full day of being out and about. If we ever come back to the area, we would definitely stay again.

The room was small. No breakfast or other amenities Worst of all my husband and I kept tossing and turning all night from the uncomfortable bed Only 2 pillows. We think we felt the springs in the bed. Both had back aches for days

Older motel but clean and comfortable

A great location, very clean, small little gem... We were traveling on the Skyline Drive, this was close to the drive and not far from Luray, which has plenty of restaurant options. Room has a small frig and microwave too. Great choice! Would choose again in the future

The motel itself was clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It’s a little dated but everything was clean and working. I’d probably want an updated list of attractions and restaurants (especially delivery!), maybe some way to purchase snacks and extras from the office. Great place for peace if you’re traveling and want some downtime. Would definitely book again.

Clean and quiet.

This motel was clean and staff supplied all towels as needed, quickly. Bed and pillows were comfortable. However, the decor was very quaint and outdated. Overall, this motel afforded a safe place for us to rest while attending a wedding in Luray.

Exactly what we expected!

I really enjoyed the fact that this was an older property that has been well maintained. Brought back nostalgia of simpler times, the room was clean and had mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and internet, The staff are super friendly, great local restaurants. I highly recommend staying here for a weekend get a way to Luray, Skyline drive.

Booked this Motel due to customer ratings - must be reviewed by friend and family because it was awful. Rooms was tiny - bathroom was filthy and who place smelt of damp. Broken tiles, mouldy bathroom, paint flaking and cobwebs

If you looking for a clean place to stay with no frills, Hillside is a good bet. The motel is old but has been renovated sufficiently to be nice. My gripes are minor: the bathroom door in our room did not stay closed, and the blinds had a six-inch gap at the bottom that could not be rectified because there was no draw string to adjust the blinds up and down.
