The staff was friendly and informative when we arrived. The old Florida charm was relaxing. The bathroom window was poorly sealed and dead bugs filled the tub the next morning. We left our room at 9am and returned at 3:30 only to find house keeping had not come by. I new they were gone for the day so i cleaned the tub and washed the glasses. We only stayed for 2 nights so I didn't bother calling the desk. Overall it was quite and close to down.

Great view nice location for visiting Mt Dora. Ac blew cold. Shower didn’t have hot water. Warm at best. Only complaint was there a group of six unsupervised kids in the pool all day Saturday during my stay. It made me leave the pool earlier than I wanted and not enjoy my visit. They were there at 1 pm when I was first there and still there at 630pm when I went back again. Aged 3 to 10 ish. Not sure if they were related to the bartender or were part of some day pass. What appeared to be their parent(s) were rotating adults sitting at bar all day ignoring the kids for the most part or the bartender who also occasionally yelled to the kids. The ten year old did his best to watch the other kids but shouldn’t have had to that. The paying guests shouldn’t have to experience that either. They were bugging other kids and families looking for attention going back and forth from sand to pool and cleaning off in the pool. Covered in sand (the younger ones). At times the young ones who couldn’t swim were jumping in the deep end. No adults inside pool area other than unrelated guests.

Wonderful stay at lakeside Inn, friendly staff excellent service. We have stayed at Lakeside over the last ten years seven times. We will surely be back. We have enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you, Ty & Jeannie

Beautiful property but rooms are very small and you can hear everything from people walking down the hallway.

The first night the room was old and dated l am disabled and was given a terrible room.
The manager gais a complimentary second night although this room had no stairs thd was stairs at entrance so no mobility aid this needs pointing out as does car park on sunday brunch car parking once a month no where close to park
Also flies and mosquitoes in room as the crawled though gaps in window.

A beautiful property. Bathrooms need some improvements. Sink in our room was clogged and they couldn't fix it, very disappointing as we were three people in the room. I expected some sort of compensation for such an uncomfortable situation. The smell of water is NOT pleasent.

The place is great... sitting at side of the lake, with the charm of an old property. The room is not great, but clean and well maintained. We booked the suite at an extra cost, but not worth it (unless you need an extra person to sleep in the sofa): you will have an extra small room connected via the bathroom. Food was good at breakfast and dinner. Drinks were too soft.

The room was lovely and had a huge bed with plenty of space in the room itself. It was charmingly decorated and the outside was very relaxing and fun to walk around. Very pretty scenery.
There were only a couple downsides. The biggest one was the lack of sound insulation in the room. You can hear absolutely EVERYTHING happening outside and in the hallway. Come 7am, you'll hear the sounds of people walking around and talking, so I hope you are an early riser. I wore earplugs and still couldn't get back to sleep.
The second problem was all the midges. They are perfectly harmless little things but will cover almost every surface they can find outside and try to fly into your face and mouth at any given opportunity.
But overall, if you prefer the quaintness and charm of historical hotels over the bigger chains, this one is certainly a great one to pick. The location is perfect and the view over the lake is stellar.

This is one of my favorite places in FL. This is an old grand hotel right on Lake Dora with beautiful views. The town is full of shops and restaurants. Because of the age of the hotel is does not have elevators and is not really handicapped accessible.

We did not planned our stay in Mt Dora, just booked this nice Inn. Once we arrived, we were surprised!
The place is well maintained, everyone is very friendly, the food is delicious.
Is within walking distance from all the shops and venues.

The Lakeside Inn is the only place I’ll stay when visiting Mount Dora. The grounds are immaculately kept and the staff are very courteous and helpful. They have their own restaurant, bar, and pool so you don’t even have to leave the hotel! At night, the deck and lighting by the lake are so romantic and serene. Thank you for making my weekend getaway so magical.

The hotel and grounds are beautiful, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The rug in our room needs to be redone. It did have some stains and looks a bit worn out. Other than that all else was awesome. The restaurant had delicious food. Walking steps from many restaurants and shops. Mount Dora like is stunning.

The truth is that if you want to stay here you must know that this is not a modern hotel, rather an old "lady" charming and historical. The rooms are small, showers small but it's ok for a couple of nights. The location is excellent, very clean and friendly staff
You just need to overlook many things and accept the "old lady's" charm as it is.

The only redeeming qualities of this hotel were its location and the grounds. The hotel room itself was simply awful. The toilet would overflow if you flushed it, the tv sat atop a dresser which was about the only surface atea in the room, but if you put something on the dresser you couldn’t see the tv. The rug was wrinkled and disgusting, and the only way to get into or out of the room was with 2 hands. One for the actual key And one to turn the knob. The price was ridiculous for what that room offered I’d rate the room with “0” if I could.

Michael in Maintenance was most helpful. At check-in he offered to carry our bags upstairs. We discovered the TV remote wasn’t working properly. He replaced it within minutes. Later in our stay we notified the desk of a clogged sink drain. Michael investigated and extracted a mini tube of toothpaste loged in the drain.
The staff at the Reception desk were friendly and welcoming throughout our 4 day stay.

We had a rainy day, but we came back to the hotel and warmed ourselves by the fire. Also they got us in our room before 3:00, so we were able to get in dry clothes. We were able to rest until dinner that night that included a Jazz concert while we ate. We really enjoyed the music especially my 11 year old grandson. The group came around to each table introducing their selves and making my grandson feel very special. All and all a very special stay we will remember for a long time.

But you need to be aware that there are no elevators and you will have to haul your luggage up and down the stairs

The property itself is so charming. The main hotel lobby is stunning. Staff is very friendly. We had lunch on the porch and the food was delicious and staff very accommodating. Our room was in a side building. Room size was ok. Bed was very uncomfortable and they used a twin sheet sideways on a double bed so no sheet on bottom of bed. Also, bed squeaked when you sat on it or turned over. Tv was so antiquated that we had to have someone from service have to come and explain remote. No guide button on remote . Plus tv picture was distorted. Anyone walking the hallway and talking could be heard in your room easily. The grounds were lovely and town very close by. We liked the ambiance of the hotel but they need to update beds, linens and tv

Charming and full of character. My room had been renovated. The mattress could have been renovated as well, but it wasn’t. WiFi lacked web access. However, I truly enjoyed the stay and wholeheartedly recommend it.

Keeping in mind that this is the oldest hotel in Florida, the hotel had a slight sewage smell to the water but I found rgatvto be rhe same for tap water everywhere in Mt Dora. Iblive in South Florida where the water quality is excellent. This hotel is charming and historical. The setting and location cannot be beat. Right in downtown Mt Dora on a huge lake with a huge 1920s pool deck overlooking lake. Walking distance to everything. The staff was very welcoming and accomodating. The beds were comfortable and we had a king size bed with 8-10 pillows in the room. Definitely pricey though
