I visit Brattleboro every six weeks, and often stay overnight. This was my first time trying the Black Mountain Inn, and I recommend it. It's quirky, both in design and decor. There does seem to be some ongoing renovation work. It has that "old building" smell, but that's just Vermont for you.
It was:
Spotless
Comfortable
Newer furniture and decor
Hosted by an absolutely charming woman from India, who I am now thinking of as my new grandma.

Check-in was fast & easy. Room was clean but nothing special. Grab & go breakfast was served starting at 7:30am... a bit late for us as we left at 7am to go skiing.

Thorough; efficient staff; comfortable, good price and very convenient to downtown Brattleboro.

I liked the motel very much. Sadly, I was awakened by the people in the room next door at around 4 am. They were definitely on something
Loud talking, yelling, singing etc. continued until about 9:30 am, when I guess they finally went to sleep. Having those people next door was scary and disruptive.

Exactly what we were looking for, would definitely stay again when in Brattleboro.

****FYI, there is no Uber here or taxi service! Public transportation is one bus (which is free) that stops running around 5pm and does not operate on Sundays***** Black Mountain Inn was a nice stay, room was clean, staff was friendly and readily available. There are a few convenient things within walking distance, like a grocery store, some places to eat and a bowling alley, but downtown and any actual sites are at least 2 miles away. We travelled here via the Amtrak train that stops in downtown and overall had a nice stay, but was unaware that you basically need a car to do anything. If you have said car, I recommend Black Mountain Inn.

After having driven for several hours in literally torrential rain at night, we were soaked when we arrived at the Blue Mountain Inn where we had reserved the ONLY room available in a very wide area that had a room for one night on an unexpectedly busy weekend. The price at the Inn was more than reasonable. We expected the last available room would be the worst.
Though there were only outside, covered stairs to go to the second floor of the Inn, we were pleasantly surprised by our bright, spacious, modern room fitted with desk, sofa bed, frig, micro wave, coffee maker, large mirrors, and comfortable king bed that was dressed with blanket, comforter, bolster pillow, and covered in a unique coverlet of birch-tree design which nicely complemented the wood, metallic & black marble furniture. We rested in the (dry) bathrobes that were provided while watching HBO which we don't have at home! The only flaw was a loose safety bar in the bathtub.
The front desk staff were accommodating and congenial, offering cookies, coffee, and treats at the counter when we arrived, and a wide variety of FRESH fruits, pre-wrapped muffins, yogurt, canned juice, hot coffee and tea, all of which was ready as a "Take-to-Go" breakfast the next morning.
Our night at the Inn was the very best part of our miserable day. We have already highly recommended the Inn to family members and hope to return ourselves for a longer stay. Thank you, Blue Mountain Inn!

I had a very nice one night stand

Very convenient location and very friendly staff, but this is a very old hotel with outdated facilities. Nothing would be considered luxury. Shower head would be too low for a 5’8” person. Towels and other amenities were very cheap. A big step down from a Holiday Inn.

We were in Vermont for leaf peeping. This hotel proved to the best location for day trips to the Green Mountains of Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The nightly rate was affordable and the owner was very personable. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Definitely recommend. Would stay here again.

Good value for the amount paid. The motel room is clean and well kept. Careful attention is paid to all the little details. It is a basic room; nothing fancy but perfectly adequate. Note that the doors lead straight to the outside so there is some outside noise that can be heard.

Decent spot just north of downtown Brattleboro. Simple room, clean, comfortable bed, although the sink is in the main bedroom and not the bathroom which is kinda weird. The woman at the front desk was pleasant.

The room was smelling smoke & there were spiders in the washroom also the sheets were not clean

Ms. Tina (owner) and her daughter were lovely and so were her other staff members. Ms. Tina was very warm and welcoming to our family. The breakfast was grab and go and Ms. Tina even made hot chocolate milk for my son. Thank you for your kind hospitality. We only stayed one night but we will be back! We loved the aquarium, meeting Jerry (cat), and the koi fish pond. Thank you again.

If this wasn’t no refundable, we would have left. The best part of this place was the pleasant person at check in.

Very poor wi-fi

This stay was affordable and the staff were very welcoming and helpful! They recommended a great pub for dinner and it was excellent! It seems like updating was a work in progress. The important areas were clean (bed and bath) and the bed was very comfy but the room didn’t smell fresh and clean and it’s appearance seemed run down. We didn’t travel with pets but it was a very pet friendly place!

The staff at the Black Mountain Inn were great, very friendly. Nice pool, and complimentary grab and go breakfast. The guestroom was large, clean, and quiet, exactly what we were looking for. We would definitely stay again on a future visit to Brattleboro, VT. Thank you!

I already have recommended Black Mountain Inn at my family reunion. My pup also slept easy and enjoyed the grasses areas 🐾

Staff were nice, but the bed was too soft for me, not their fault - and the coffee maker in the room didn't work.
2.0
There's no smoking signs everywhere but it smells like everyone has been smoking. Even my room smelled like cigarettes. Be nice if they ran a vacuum through the hallways and got rid of all the spider webs in every corner. If it was cleaner and less smoke, the price would be fair. Seems like some of the "patrons" might live there... I would not stay there again.

Financially disadvantaged people, some with substance use issues are present at the motel. You could hear people pacing and slamming objects in other rooms. The cleanliness was questionable. The rooms smelled musty and the bathroom was tiny. Lastly, there was not hot water in the shower.

Property could use some upgrades.

Basic down and out. Quiet clean and nice.

Clean and quiet. Great location. Beds and shower were perfect
4.0
Friendly check-in. Disappointed that breakfast is grab and go. Also that it starts at 7:30. Many people leave by 7 to get to the mountain by 8am.

Love the staff here!
3.0
The property is nicely landscaped. The beds were clean and comfortable. The rooms are noisy and you can hear outside activities as well as your neighbors water use- both toilet and shower. Bathroom had no exhaust fan- not great for humidity control. Liked the shampoo and conditioner dispenser. Fridge was clean and useful.
