Amazing hotel!! Historic, re-modeled rooms! VERY quiet!

Older hotel with lots of charm and history. The room was nicely remodeled , but being an older hotel the room was small. The bathroom was really small.

This was a great stay for one night with the family. The hotel was old school but the room was nicely remodeled. Very comfy and had great amenities! They even gave us 4 complemtary beer tickets for use at the hotel bar!

They gave updated the rooms in the hotel but they have not updated the bathrooms as well as some of the decor. There are part of the updates that have made this old hotel lose some of its charm. Either update all or don’t change at all

Gem of a hotel - small but clean and very friendly. Loved the old time atmosphere. Must not be bothered by cigarette smoke - not smoke free.

Back when the hotel offered rooms for $19.95 circa 2002, the place had it all
They advertise a sports book that does not exist, no table games, crappy machines with low jackpots that don't win. Casino floor is a shell of it's former self . And the 19 dollar room is now 89 dollars.

Very nice old building but well renovated

Though the room was no smoking, the casino on the first floor was so smokey, it permeated the whole facility. The staff was very friendly and offered coupons for free drinks and breakfast.

Nice room. Every once in a while there would be some smoke enter the room from the casino.

The hotel was in an old part of town. The hotel was old and had a casino with bright flashing lights. No lamps in the room and only 3 outlets inconveniently placed. Tiny bathroom, uncomfortable creaky bed and thin walls. I could hear the neighbor use the bathroom. Few towels. The floor was very cold. The parking lot was cramped and difficult to maneuver. The lobby was old and dated and smelled of smoke because of the casino. The entire building should be abandoned as it has outlived its historic charm. The hall and lobby carpets were threadbare. We were passing through and did not know the area, so reserving a good room was difficult. Live and learn.

Room was very small. Hotel gave you a ticket for a plastic cup of beer out of tap at Smoky floor, and $5 toward Denny's, we ended up spending $34 to get a decent breakfast. Room was supposed non-smoking, but smoke coming from elevator, hallway, and plumbing pipe (shower drain)

We bailed on this reservation after walking in this hotel and with no cancellation policy we are out this money. This place was sleazy, dirty, and cigarette smoke so bad we did not check in. A little concerned with leaving our truck and trailer parked outside over night here with the look of the people hanging around.

Fun and clean hotel. Friendly staff. Pet friendly :)

The remodel was done nicely. Appreciate that the rooms did not smell of smoke. Halls did a bit. But it is almost 100 yrs of smoke. Wish they would take out the front slot machines, and put in a gift shop like it was when my aunt worked there 50 yrs ago!

Passing through Ely on our way to Mammoth Lakes. The reception folks were extremely friendly and helpful. Family suite was ideal for us and everything was newly refurbished and clean. Breakfast at Denny’s in the morning was super convenient and the service there was incredibly friendly as well. Lucked out on a slot on our way out, pulling in $15 on a $1 spin. 5/5 would stay again.

Just a fun stop on our roadtrip. Room and xasjno and staff were great.
Food at Denny's wasn't great but the service was nice

It seemed no one was ever at the front desk when needed, and there was no bell or way to get their attention. The hotel is like a museum and not being a gambler, I converted the drink coupons into white zin and wondered the hallways on the floors. It is very convenient to have a Denny's in the hotel and the complimentary breakfast was nice.

The young lady that checked me in was fantastic! She was very helpful even after the check-in. Everyone was super nice. My only issue was, why is it so hard to win anything in the casino?

Although an old building the room was nicely renovated and appointed. The info sheet in the room stated Steakhouse restaurant in Jail House Motel and Casino which was permanently closed and although the Chinese place across the street had an open sign there was no one around to take orders .The fan on the heating system kicked in and out about every 5 minutes all night which disturbed our sleep. Although we have stayed there previously...not likely to return

For an older hotel above a casino it was great. The room was clean and very updated. The bathroom was small but workable. It was nice having free drink coupons and breakfast offered the next morning. Staff was very friendly!

It was nice except the heater put out very little heat.

We have been guest at the Hotel NV many times. Can't say enough about the employees there. The front desk crew are very nice and hospitable. We were excited to stay in one of the more newly renovated family suites. Biggest complaint was cleanliness of the room. It was very obvious the pillow cases had NOT been changed. They were, let's say, hairy. The sinks had not been washed down, same thing, hairs in them. Toilets appeared clean. They did a nice job creating the suites but cmon guys, put a plastic liner over the old iron tubs, those are gross with paint peeling off. You put a lovely toilet and subway trial on the walls and let a really big eyesore (the tub). We asked for clean pillow cases and someone did come promptly with them. They were nice and clean, I could smell the bleach (not in an offensive way). We tip maids in motels/hotels. Just couldn't do it this time. We've never had dirty sheets or pillow cases here so we were a bit disappointed. But, we will give them another chance because of the staff and location. MrGs across the street is not a bad dinner spot. The Cell Block Steak House across the street has closed. Disappointed but word is a new steak house is coming in it's place.
Overall, always had a solid stay here. It fell short this one time. Please make sure sheets are clean and bathroom ditto.

And the free breakfast at Denny’s didn’t happen. The waitress was not helpful and I should have gone to the front desk! Needs to be made clear upon arrival- and I got in late.

Very old hotel that could use some upgrades and deep cleaning.

Great place with a lot of history and ambience. The rooms were good and free breakfast at Dennys was excellent. Be aware that the casino allows smoking, but the rooms are truly smoke free.

The Denny’s restaurant attached next door and the complimentary breakfast (very good). All staff encountered were friendly and helpful.

the in room conveniences (coffee, tea, toiletries etc were plentiful. The bathroom was on the small side but satisfactory. The free breakfast at Dennys was an added bonus.

Upon looking at other reviews I booked this hotel for my daughter and I to stay at. This hotel was absolutely gross. There was a q-tip on the floor in the bathroom, boot prints in the shower, eye lashes and hair on the pillows, the sheets were stained. There was also a sign on the bathroom door that stated, "Caution due to the age of the hotel 1929 the shower fluctuates from hot to cold without warning!" There was nothing about this in the description. They advertise it as a hotel that has been upgraded and renovated. The gal at the front desk was friendly but that was the only positive thing about this hotel. We were so grossed out we looked for other places in town to stay in but they were all booked, so we had to use our own blankets to lay on and towels over the pillows.

Bathroom was very tiny, but when you realize it is a historic hotel, one is glad to have a bathroom in the room period.
The staff is so kind and so friendly. This is second time we’ve stayed there, and we would still go back again.

Very disappointed with our room and stay. 3rd floor facing the street. Nowhere to put our suitcase, only a hard straight back chair, bathroom was 😳….wouldn't be using the shower….it was pretty gross….no where to hang your towel….very cramped. Bed only had a sheet on it. A light blanket on the end of the bed. We brought our own up to use as well. Heat unit poor.
