Very expensive…and room not clean. When ask staff about cleaning the room properly, not helpful at all.

Be WARNED, check in time ends at 10pm. We arrived around 10:30pm to find the reception desk and the hotel empty. There was an after hours number posted, but no one answered. We stayed for 45 minutes, walking around the hotel, looking for staff and calling the after hours number. Neither myself nor the Expedia rep could get a hold of anyone. We ended up driving an hour to find a different hotel where the concierge laughed at my story. Neither one of us had previously heard of a hotel that ends check in at 10pm, nor one that leaves their guests stranded overnight.
I requested a refund the night of our arrival, October 4th. After attempting to contact the hotel and following up with Expedia five times over the course of two months (Expedia also couldn't reach the hotel during this time), I finally received a reply today (December 1st) that Calabogie Peaks had refused to provide any sort of refund, discount or credit.
I hope you make some much needed changes to your policies.

Great location! We enjoyed our stay!

Nice property and quaint warm feel. Had a nice view of the mountain and fall colours.

Stayed for 2 nights, beautiful fall colours. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful and loved the outdoor fire pit. The pool and hot tub were closed for maintenance and we were not able to use them. Continental breakfast was not a lot of variety but okay. Would be nice if there was a coffee/tea/got chocolate station for guests in the lobby as a suggestion

This property was fine everything and went well except the following. We were on a motorcycle trip. I specifically booked this place because it had a restaurant ( with a chef), so was going to be fine. When we arrived, we were told that the restaurant was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The last think we wanted to do was get back on the bike. I’m not sure if Expedia is to blame for this false advertising or the hotel itself. But was certainly disappointed! Oh.. we were there on Monday!

The room is full of flys, and asked hotel to provide Raid or other insecticide, the answer is no. I fight tens of flies all night, they climbed your face and let you unsleeping .

The good: The staff were friendly enough. The food in the restaurant was great! Really liked the head chef. The king bed was clean and very comfortable.
The not so good: The pool and hot tub were not open which was very disappointing! The hotel looks in need of a solid renovation, everything is tired looking. The sofabed in the suite was not good. The small suite kitchen needs things like a cutting board, knife, wine opener, can opener tea towels etc.

Spacious room and clean
Toilet was broken, bathroom door squeaked terrible,
Breakfast awful, (asked for a bottle of water, said no, asked for a glass of tap water said they had none, room was out of coffee. When we arrived (early) we had a pleasant lady on the desk after that we had a lady who was not pleasant. Would not go back. P.s.
First time I have written a review, 1st time I have been so disapointed

Great value and service - large room, convenient dining, continental breakfast, and thanks for the campfire! The pool was closed but will hopefully be open next time.

Hotel gone very shabby, room was very dusty , stayed three days and room never cleaned. No cups in room for coffee and continental breakfast downstairs was absolutely deplorable. Unfortunately calabogie peaks resort is way past its peak and the hotel has gone down hill .

Room was nice, comfortable bed

Nice enough hotel, a little sleepy, everything shut at 9pm. No complaints, people were nice, had a decent meal in the restaurant.

Hotel needs a major renovation to bring it up to standard. Carpets were dirty, bathroom was not functioning properly - free-running toilet - chair in the room was filthy so we didn’t sit down! Everything was dirty and old. We felt unclean the whole visit, musty/damp feeling room and hallways. Poorly lit throughout (although 3 of our rooms lights didn’t work at all!!)
Food in the restaurant was okay. Service in the restaurant was great - one lady doing it all - run off her feet, but capable and super friendly.
Service from lady on front desk before our visit was rude and abrupt. Service at front desk was mediocre.
Breakfast was in a small meeting room with grab and go items that weren’t fresh, and the room was unclean as well.
Didn’t dare try the pool area.
Grounds were unkept, pavement at entrance from parking lot had missing stones making it an unsafe walk.
Overall - I do not want to stay at this hotel again, and am surprised that Ascend links their name to this location.

The room could use updating. The carpet had tears and the window locks didn't lock. Also the hot tub was not working at the time and the pool was cloudy.

The stay was very nice our first room was quite cold and we were re routed to another room which was an upgrade and it was very comfortable. The breakfast spot was very good with many muffins coffee and assorted jams jellies and toastable breads :)

This nicely renovated condo has very nice amenities

Expensive and not worth the money. We checked in and the room did not have any hand soap, shampoo and conditioner as advertised and only 3 towels for 4 people. No housekeeping during our stay. Too expensive for what they offer.

All good overall

Beautiful area but as someone from outside the area I would appreciate a small map guiding me to local attractions (particularly restaurant options) as I wasn't aware the on- site restaurant wasn't open Monday and Tuesday.

It was okay for a one night stay.

Lovely property. Beautiful lake. Very nice staff

I really like the views and friendliness of our check in receptionist but nit the stain on bedroom carpet or lack of electricity for the wall with the tv coffee maker. The beach I'd consider unsafe to approach as no one was directing the diggers or trucks as we drove in and out. Pretty otherwise down at waterfront but you cant bring your own food.

It was nice with lots of potential activities to do. Weather did not allow us to take advantage of this. The personnel was very nice and room very clean and spacious. The only down side is the included continental breakfast could be a lot better, no fruit, had to ask for more croissants and the only protein was a already made english muffin sandwich that we had to heat up. No peanut butter... I would of like some yogourt, peanut butter, nuts, seeds and or fresh fruit. Tks.

Property looks very tired and needs TLC. The pool and hot tub was out of service. Disappointed it wasn’t posted. The main driveway needs repaving.

Atmosphere. Beautiful surroundings very pleasant to walk around.

None of the restaurants were open. The heat was still on so our room was uncomfortably warm. One of the windows wouldn't stay open. There were no facial tissues (Klennex) in the room and I have stayed at Roadside motels and used gas station restrooms with nicer toilet paper. For an exclusive resort it was one of the most disappointing stays

Loved the on-site resteraunt and the owner Iris. Loved the proximity to the hill.
It was very disappointing to not have the pool up and running.

We stayed here for our 1st year dating Anniversary. We had pizza from the local pizza place, fabulous pizza, kind service, and they delivered free to the hotel. The second day we went skiing. Very nice service from all the people working that day! Late afternoon, my boyfriend proposed to me on top of the ski lift hill! I did say yes! Everyone around at that moment clapped, banged there poles together, and people cheering from the lift. A beautiful spot to say yes to the man you love!! Perfect trip all around!! Thank-you everyone working for great service!!!

The hotel was clean but needing updating. Pool closed, hot tub open. Restaurant really good but only open for dinner. Breakfast was not the greatest. Staff were really friendly especially Iris owner of the restaurant.Overall location OK.

Tennis courts need a major overhaul, continental breakfast was pretty limited (muffin, oatmeal, yogurt) and room could use a little sprucing up (vanity in bathroom and dresser were both pretty dinged up). Also restaurant is closed 2 days of the week when a lot of other restaurants in calabogie are closed as well. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay - staff were great, bed was comfy, nice big soaker tub, would def stay again 🙂

Spacious well appointed rooms

Great staff and wonderful views.

Loved the restuarant, good food with a definite European (Swiss) influence. Smores at the fire pit was a nice touch. Wished the pool and hot tub had been open but end of ski season maintenance requirements understandable. Room was nice and spacious, tv had lots of specialty channels available. Rug had seen better days, suspect a few red wine spills accounted for most of the issues. Cleanliness for the rest of the room and bathroom was good.

Staff was very helpful and friendly

Amazing staff ~ especially Tisha at the front desk! Beds were comfy and thankfully the window opened as it often got too warm in the room (even though heat was off).
Unfortunately there must not be any insulation or sound proofing. First night kids were allowed to run up/down the hallway till all hours, then in the middle of the night the person directly behind my headboard took a phone call that startled me awake as he sounded as if he was in my room~ scary for a female travelling alone.
Rooms are very tired, with old mismatched furniture and no fridge or other food prep area/capabililty. Washrooms are well passed their best, before date too.
As well, terrible Roku TV set up that is spotty due to slow internet with virtually no access to local tv or anything worth watching unless you log into your own Netflix or Prime ~ why not use smart TV's with Bell Fibre app?
It's time to up your game with breakfast, especially as you are charging a "resort fee" to cover the $2 cost for pre-packaged Costco version of bars & yogurts. As well please have someone spend some time on Facebook market place to find some newer functioning gym equipment ~ your location next to the ski hill is great, but without the pool up and functioning yet (probably due to covid restrictions?) not everyone wants to freeze to get exercise.
Again, the your staff is amazing and friendly. Your location is great, but this hotel really could shine with some updates.

The room that they served continental breakfast was a bit dingy. Could use a good deep clean.Tooms were ok but vents were dirty, full of dust. A s good deep clean and updating is required. Restaurant had good food and great service.

Plus: nice views;bedding;bathroom clean; check in was polite; dinner and owner at Canthook was wonderful.
Minus: windows were so dirty couldnt see the view; phone, TV didnt work; curtain panel was broken; stains on carpet and ceiling; lamp shades not on properly; the rest of staff were very interested and unfriendly. Advertised hiking trails were unclearly marked and were unsafe. I could go on but clearly WOULD NOT RECOMMEND at least off season.
