Lovely stay in a very impressive hotel - the setting and gardens are stunningly beautiful. So much history. The food was delicious. All staff were very friendly. We stayed the night before catching flights from Heathrow and what a way to start the holiday!

The property is absolutely lovely, as is the food. The staff are excellent.

Like a National Trust day out but you get to stay overnight! With its epic, historic buildings, beautifully kept gardens & with the addition of contemporary luxury. The character features such as the front door for example, have been preserved & reinforce the authenticity of the place.
Staff were helpful & on hand at any point.
Food was delicious & with a good selection of drinks.
We used the location for easy access to Heathrow airport.
We loved our stay here. Truly beautiful place.

Stunningly beautiful property with great charm. Fantastic staff, great service and food.

Brilliant from arrival until departure

The most remarkable property. Second time visiting the hotel, the bed is like a dream , the property is magical, and the staff is ultimately efficient and kind. I love to stay here before flying out of Heathrow … highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to unwind and just breathe.

This is a beautiful old estate. The grounds are beautiful - even in January. It must be absolutely lovely in the warmer summer months. My only complaint was the noise. Because the building is so old, the windows do not seal properly and any noise from the reception area such as loud talkers or cars pulling onto the stone driveway was clearly audible in our room.
6.0
It was a beautiful well maintained property! The grounds were lovely!
The pillows in the rooms were so uncomfortable and bulky but the beds were comfy.
The service was half exceptional and half poor.
Some of the staff were attentive and thoughtful and some were dismissive and non attentive.

My husband and Irecently had the pleasure of staying one night at Great Fosters hotel. Nestled near the heart of Windsor, this historical gem of a hotel left an indelible mark on us with its impeccable service and charming ambiance. From the moment we stepped through the small “door-in-a-door” we were immediately captivated by the enchanting and historical interior that exuded classical English charm. It was clear that great effort was taken to restore/preserve its history yet it still achieved the expectations for modern comforts. We were quite hungry the day we arrived and requested tea and we were escorted to a charming and secluded tearoom to our delight. The tea service was excellent and was a wonderful start to our stay. Afterwards, we took a stroll in the gorgeous gardens of the hotel and then retired to our room to rest before dinner. Our room was a blend of traditional and contemporary décor with a mix of antique furniture and modern amenities that provided us with a comfortable and relaxing space. It also had a scenic view of the amazing garden and grounds, which we truly enjoyed. To top off our stay, we ate at The Tudor Pass that is located in the hotel, which was absolutely outstanding. Great Fosters was truly a tranquil retreat where we were able to unwind and appreciate the beauty of an English estate and we wish we could have stayed longer. We highly recommend Great Fosters for anyone seeking an unforgettable, beautiful and historical hotel with excellent se

Tired and living on past glory. Room poor and tired and no bed made up for our 7 year old on arrival at 9.45pm. She had to sleep in our bed. Very poor breakfast buffet with little choice. A lot of aircraft noise until 11.15pm from low flying planes departing Heathrow.

Build in 16th century, now a hotel with unique rooms and Michelin 1 star restaurant. Stayed in the tapestry room, pretty cool. Highly recommend this boutique hotel.

Beautiful alternative to LHR hotels. A very special place and convenient to LHR

Loved everything about our stay apart from having to leave.
Hotel was beautiful, massages were amazing and absolutely loved the outdoor pool

A unique experience. A magnificent Tudor mansion with glorious gardens cared for by a bevy of gardeners and very attentive service from the hotel staff. This is a very special hotel - not the Marriott or Hilton, if that is what you are looking for but so much more. The building obviously is very old and encompasses its own problems but also its many charms. The room had a very comfortable bed and modern bathroom. The windows open and you can enjoy the country air, although there is a heater and air conditioner in the room. The breakfast (included) and service was excellent. There is a serious swimming pool that you can swim laps in, an outdoor heated tub and poolside bar. The garden is a miniature take on Windsor Castle, a tribute to the gardeners. While you feel you are in the country, the hotel is very close to Heathrow.
I am delighted that the owners have decided to maintain and allow travelers to stay at this rare gem. Your bill is a small donation to help preserve a beautiful part of British history.

Great service and location to go and watch golf! A little disappointed with the Estate Grill menu as it is not that similar to the sample menu on their website, saying that I would stay there again!

Not value for money. Overpriced room price.

Great experience with superb food and service around the pool bar. The Tudor Pass experience was phenomenal. Highly recommended.
Check-in was poor with a very rude concierge who didn’t do anything to support the check-in process. For a 5 star hotel it was a let down but the Porter to support was great so he took the negative into a positive.
Coordination of the bookings team was poor also due to booing individually (that was a lot cheaper!) but constantly we had to reaffirm bookings and made it a bit annoying.
A great place to experience a special event.

Hotel room was awful. Air conditioning unit was leaking and it smelt of sewage in there. We were arriving from Cardiff to attend a 60th birthday party and we had to get ready in 40 degree heat. Hotel didn’t charge us for our stay but we won’t be returning
2.0
There was nothing luxurious about the luxury room I booked.
The room had no AC just a tower fan placed in a corner…. I was shocked.
I carried my luggage over 3 flights of stairs and I know it’s a historical building so just a heads up the floors creak very loudly with just regular walking.
You pay for the high price for the grounds I guess because the rooms will definitely disappoint you.

This place is "Romance on a stick" - take your partner and enjoy a beautiful escape in the countryside just a few miles away from Heathrow Airport

The second time we have stayed there in two months and the experience was considerably better this time .
They had a lot more more staff on duty and the food service a lot more punctual .

We stayed for one night this week. The staff were great We had booked a luxury super king with breakfast @ £355.50. The property is a superb 16th century former hunting lodge and has many lovely features. Outside the gardens were superb and very well kept. However, our room/bathroom left quite a lot to be desired. The room was run down. I.e. bare patches on windowsills. Chipped furniture and large stuff marks on the floor. Neither of the overhead bed reading lights worked and one of the lamps had the wrong fittings. Also ceiling light was missing. There was no info pack to tell us about the hotel/how to operate things in the room.local facilities etc… the air conditioning controls in the room didn’t work, although could be centrally controlled but couldn’t then be switched off. The bathroom was spacious with a bath (although that had two black hairs in it which were definitely not ours). This was reported but not dealt with. The vanity mirror in the bathroom was broken and could not be used. When either of the taps to the basin were turned on, they leaked, splashing water all over the back of the unit. There was grime around the overflow. It seems that whoever is in charge of maintenance/housekeeping needs to check the room carefully and rectify the problems mentioned. Having paid that amount of money for what was supposed to be ‘luxury’ super king. It fell far below the standard of other commensurate hotels in which we have stayed over the years. A great pity.

The property is amazing; including the building and the gardens. The staff were very polite. However, behind the great property and polite staff a lot of items were sub-standard. Including but not limited to; No A/C (room was over $600/day), very weak or broken WIFI, no hotel phone in room so had to use house Google tablet to do everything but the apps did not work correctly and weak/broken WIFI caused timeouts or made the apps inoperable, no tomato juice for Vodka/tomato in restaurant, waiter spilt food in restaurant and did not properly clean it up, no accommodation for simple requests in restaurant, food was below expected standard for price. Our local English friends also agreed the restaurant experience was sub-standard.
This hotel could be fantastic but they need to take care of the basics as well as having a great property.

Such beautiful gardens! Room was unbearably hot.

Great Fosters is set in beautiful grounds & the property itself is stunning. We had a suite in the main building which was very traditional but also has modern touches. The staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful during our stay, & the food in the restaurant was delicious. Overall a very enjoyable stay

WE WERE GIVEN MODERN ROOMS BUT WANTED TO STAY IN OLD PART OF THE HOTEL.
3.0
Hotel and grounds amazing , food and pricing in the restaurant ok , didn’t do the Michelin star but the estates grill was ok. There is a lot of potential for it to be better
The room was nice however the heat due to no ac was an issue , heated pool was lovely and clean
2.0
Great grounds and venue. No AC in rooms. But in comparison, the staff's knowledge about their own facility seems to be lacking thus services are hit or miss. That may get better given time of training. They are polite and very much trying to be helpful, though.
3.0
The level of catering and food service is very poor, average food that is inconsistent with the property. No service at all at breakfast- quite extraordinary, almost felt that I should bring back my own empty cup and plate. No service at all.

Great Forsters is a spectacular property. Fabulous gardens and grounds. The room was 5 star, and the Michelin starred restaurant and spa (and spa staff) was exquisite. All that said, the hotel, staff-wize, was chaotic at best and inept at worst. Any time during our stay that we had a question the staff either had no answer or the wrong answer. Mysteriously disappearing dinner reservations. The simple question "can we get lunch?" led us to be directed to two eating spots, the front desk, and an actual argument between staffers about which space was responsible for serving us a sandwich.
With two exceptions: the bell captain from Portugal and a gentleman at the front desk (who were professional and very accommodating), it was as if the property, that morning, had hired a bunch of people at a job fair, and bussed them all in to work that same day. The disconnect between the fine building, room and grounds, and the level of staff is jarring.

A great venue for a wedding.
Lovely outdoor pool for a morning dip.

This is a lovely property. Rooms were excellent. Breakfast was v good.
However staff need to be substantially up-skilled. Service was wanting and apparently it was not possible to provide something basic to eat at 9pm!

The staff were fabulous and the hotel really interesting. The only downside was a need for some minor repairs and refreshment.

Upon arrival it was immediate love at first sight.
Driving up to the main entrance was visually spectacular. Although I picked the location for what was visually alluring online, I was pleasantly enthused that the actual site was more captivating then advertised.
It was evening upon my check-in and I suppose I had missed the whole bustle of the daily greeting. I arrived and it was somewhat storybook like with an evoked isolated eeriness. I loved the vibe immediately. This was exactly the distraction this vacation was purposed to be.
Sat, you were the first point of contact and I must emphasize how you set the tone with a greeting all guess appreciate. Polite and accommodating with a courteous welcoming smile which signified that this would turn out to be a first-rate destination to brag about. Witnessing only a few minutes of eye stimulating grand ambience with unique architecture transported my mind to an anticipated mysterious adventure about to begin. I was satisfied with my choice.
From the door man, room attendees, dining team and the spa oasis treatment, all were outstanding with professionalism to be proud of.
Whomever, maintains the property grounds, is stellar. The outdoors was amazing. Exploring the grounds was the icing on the cake.
Thank you to all who attended to my every need and thanks to my "guide" (are you lost) :) keeping me on track from getting lost as I explored the property (turn the door knob to exit) :).

The main building and grounds are exceptionally beautiful. The newer rooms are not as impressive and the shower leaked outside the pan - but still a good sized room.
Very attentive and accomodating staff.
2.0
Friendly staff but they were well understaffed which made waiting times for service long. The breakfast and afternoon tea was nice but the room was very noisy, hot and smelt Smokey due to the room being above reception where the open fire was. Try to avoid this room if you can (corridor 3)

Had a wonderful 3 day break at Great Fosters!! Everything about the experience exceeded expectations ! My room was beautiful . The grounds were enchanting and the staff went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. Special mention goes out to the bar manager Tony, Freddie the bartender, Ray and Ravi from the front desk as they went above and beyond. Thanks, I’ll be back! :-)

Pretty historic property with an easy drive to Heathrow. So much better than staying at an airport hotel and appreciated having the easy free parking. Food in the Estate Grill was overpriced and not very good and the waiter not skilled. Would stay again but probably not eat there.
3.0
Perfect room. Lovely and spacious. Good food and drinks.
2.0
The hotel and grounds itself were beautiful, but hugely let down by the service.
To our surprise, despite being guests in the hotel, we were unable to eat at the hotel restaurant as it was fully booked, which is problematic given the location of the hotel. We would expect to be contacted by the hotel at the time of booking to either be offered a reservation or notified about lack of spaces.
Generally, the service was particularly bad at the reception desk and it appears there is also some tension among staff, who do not seem to have reservations about having arguments in front of the hotel guests.
There was a wedding in the hotel at the time and it felt like the event was the main focus of the staff and the reason why everything was fully booked - when in reality, it should not affect the experience of the remaining hotel guests.
Given the number of complaints being made we witnessed during our stay, we hope that hotel management take all of the feedback seriously before the ship sinks, which would be a great shame given the undeniable wow factor of the hotel.
