Great comfy accommodations

The first night, we stayed in the "suite" - it was in the attic of the house with lots of stairs which I was unaware of. The room was weirdly set up - with the TV in a very awkward spot where you could only see it clearly from one chair - you could not see it from the bed, and the sofa was too far away (as the TV screen was small. The windows had blinds, but no "black out" shades so at 6:00 in the morning, the room was completely lit up from the rising sun - not so great if you want to sleep in. It had a nice soaking tub and a lovely balcony, but if we were to return, we would definitely not stay in the "suite". The second night we stayed in a regular room which was much better. We did not partake of the food as there was very little offering for plant-based, vegan eating. The surrounding grounds were beautiful. The inn had access to the lake which no one told us about and we found it by chance on the second day - would have been nice to know about it!

Although the room was quite ordinary, there was a beautiful pool and grounds and a very proficient and friendly person at the front desk. The winery and restaurant were closed for the day and we were given only a few days notice. The private beach was disappointing - very stony, no shade.

Property is beautiful with the winery but our room smelt so bed. Like mildew and it was damp in there. The bathroom had hair all over it and an old roll of toilet paper on the floor when we arrived. The bathroom had mold all around the ceiling

We had a wonderful time at Hessenland! Meghan made check in a breeze and we were very happy with our room- super clean, comfy beds, Coastal Coffee. Dinner was superb with local ingredients, delicious preparation. We had the pork schnitzel with spaetzle. Super French toast with local bacon or sausage and maple syrup. Will definitely return during better weather to enjoy the pool, beach and gardens..

Great weekend get away with my husband. Stayed in the coach suite which is a quaint room choice and separate from the main inn. This room offers a balcony which we used to have a bottle of wine that we requested to be in our room on arrival Although the room was dated, the bed was very comfortable and linens very clean. The property is absolutely gorgeous. The gardens are beautiful and the pool very clean and quiet. We also used the inn’s private beach which is a 10 min walk or 2 min car ride. Overall we were very pleased with this experience.

My partner and I stayed here for two nights in a Premium Suite and we had the most amazing time. The room was beautiful, the outdoor pool was in pristine condition. Every staff member we came across was so kind and helpful. We will definitely be coming back!

Nice grounds with lovely gazebo and many mature trees. Many secluded spots with benches to sit at (some areas have sadly become a little run down would be the only critique). The vineyards look beautiful!

I like how the property was clean and quiet. My kids also enjoy the pool, and everyone was so friendly.

Lovely outside space for the price. Washroom small but mirror outside shower/toilet area made it more convenient. Room basic but clean. Air conditioning fixed at 70 - couldn’t change it - too hot at night for us….also noisy. Restaurant was ok - schnitzel good but rouladen portion too small for price. Pool not heated. Staff friendly.

THIS PROPERTY LADY OWNER IS SO RUDE AND ASKED ME AT NIGHT TO VACATE THE HOTEL IF I WANT TO SIT ON THE PATIO OUTSIDE.SO SHE WAS SO RUDE AND BEHAVED WITH US WHEN I ASKED TO SIT ON THE PATIO BECAUSE MY WIFE HAS BIRTHDAY ON THAT DAY... SO THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE GUEST IN HOTEL

Very nice place! Pool was clean. Not a fan of the wine, but thats just me. Didnt affect overall view of the place

Hessenland Inn & Schatz Winery was exactly what my partner and I wanted. It is quiet, and beautiful, with a comfortable Inn, with great food and great wine, and about a 15min drive to Grand Bend. My partner now wants our visit to become and annual tradition, so we will be back!

Nice place for a short visit

The place is wonderful. Few kilometers from Grand Bend beaches and main street. Room was clean. Nice breakfast with good cost.

Beautiful grounds and interiors, well kept, relaxing atmosphere, very pleasant experience. Enjoyed the pool and the many points of beauty in the garden.

Everything fine except promised 7 am breakfast not available. We just left w/o food.

My wife and I had a very nice stay on our anniversary. We were a little disappointed with no functioning hot tub in our room and the coffee supplied was sub par. Dinner and the visit to the winery was very nice and the staff was very accommodating.

This is a very good property and facility. Worth the stay.

Was okay, little dated and beds were not the best. The biggest let down was the hair in the bathroom and the rotten state of the fridge.

Staff was very helpful and provided great service. The grounds are beautiful and the food was excellent!

Very nice, except loud party outside our door after the wedding reception ended at 1am. No staff on site overnight.

The restaurant and wait staff were great. The schnitzel was very good, the wines not so much. The room was an attic space in the style of a low budget motel. Lots of cheap finishings from the 70s - 90s. Low grade old sagging carpet adorns the staircase walls! The jacuzzi doesn't work and the shower is a tiny makeshift wall cut out. My husband mentioned that the mattress was springy and uncomfortable at the front desk and asked about replacing it. The otherwise friendly attendant suddenly became very curt and seemed to take it as a personal insult. She told us the hotel was full and regardless, they all had the same (springboard) mattress. Then she remembered there was one room for an $100 extra per night with the exact same mattress and did we want it? I told her that we wanted a better mattress because the one we had was like a bouncy castle and we were only getting 4 hours of sleep per night. She was even more annoyed. Nonetheless, she offered us a mattress from a non-guest room. It was a little better but we put it on the floor to give it more stability and were able to sleep ok. When she asked how everything was at checkout, we told her the mattress was ok on the floor. Her face fell. The feeling we were left with is that it is not ok to say if you aren't happy with anything at this hotel. The quality of the rooms is really poor considering the rest of the place and the price. I would expect this in a 1-2 star hotel.

The staff were excellent! Friendly, efficient and helpful. We felt right at home. Beautiful vineyard and surroundings.
