Stayed at this hotel lots of times over the past few years and was happy to return. Martin went out of his way to get us a suitable family suite which was brilliant. Was great having the pool to use on a wet day. The hotel room was lovely and warm and the dining rooms were comfortable and inviting. Staff were really accommodating and dealt with any queries efficiently and to our satisfaction. The hotel is in a busy small town and close to Fintra Bay and Slieve League cliffs which are spectacular. Would highly recommend a break at the Central Hotel for its homeliness and its locality.

Very disappointing hotel. The main lift was out of order! The room was cold but they did send a heater up! The walls near the kettle was splattered with tea or coffee. In need of an uplift!

Best: Room in the back with stunning view of the river and harbor.
Ok: stall helpful.
So so: corridors and room smell cheap disinfectant. Flush toilet is old and leaky.
No parking or simply zone to unload suitcases.

Staff was extremely helpful. We found our room was street side & then moved us to non street side room to avoid traffic noise. Breakfast was excellent.

The hotel is a bit of a maze with strange room numbering but once we found the rooms, they were pretty nice (maybe just a bit dated). Had a view over the water which was lovely! Didn’t try the food so can’t comment on it. Staff all very friendly. Location very central.

No parking. Have to use public car park which is close by and inexpensive. Free 6pm-9am. About 5 minute walk.

Overall a good stay but spoilt by other noisy and inconsiderate guests.

Fantastic experience at the Central Hotel. The location is ideal for a stay in Donegal — just walk out the door and you’re on the Diamond. Superb dining — the Thai menu is a must try! Courteous staff and gorgeous views. I’ll be back soon.

Nice hotel, room was tucked away down a few halls which was different, but the room was clean and it was quiet. Good dining options. Had to park down the street in public parking which was a paid lot.

Good not great. It was clean but im not the biggest fan of carpet, it definitely was older but the staff were friendly, parking was conveniently close by and overall we had a good sleep. If you are a light sleeper this is not the place for you! It is super loud outside with all of the bars but we didn’t find it to be a problem

Great location for exploring the town. Unfortunately we had some party animals on the same floor as us one night.

Amazing location right next to the river and with an awesome bar across the road that has live music daily - a great place for a fun few days with the family

Very very disappointed in this hotel!! Went to restaurant and it was over priced for a budjet hotel and to have an english man" waiter "wearing a suit to start shouting at two teenagers beside us while my 12 year old listening in who has bad anxiety and was shaking and crying NO APOLOGIES to us listening in also the waitress told me she had to go out for a cry after this happened it ruined our dinner and it was not cheap!!! and his manner in front of a packed room was actually disgustingif he was speaking to my daughter like this when i wasnt there police would have been called. The corridors had the worst smell and the net curtains on the wondow were yellow and mouldy 95 pound for a room to look out at a fan no view at all and just over all horrible honestly they would need to have training on customer service. Runined my 12 year olds easter break!!

The property is right in the middle of town which makes it convenient to walk to restaurants in town. The street parking in town was very busy and we found it hard to get a parking spot. We finally found a spot in a common parking area which was free in early April but would be payed parking in the summer that was quite a walk from the hotel. There was no drop off zone in front of the hotel.

location - V Good, in the Diamond.
It was my birthday and contacted prior to see if could get a bay view.
Needed to pay extra was the reply. No problems. We stuck with the standard we booked.
Odd atmosphere Upon entering reception with hospitality lacking by the female. Asked if they were busy and was told no, quiet.
Thought maybe we'd get a view, after my email, but no. Fair enough. Maybe a 'Happy Birthday', "Have a great stay?" Nope not even that.
The room had a great view looking at a plastered wall, complete with characterful crack. Inside, it needed badly updated. Old, worn, scuffed furniture. Bathroom needed ripped out. There was mould in the shower and sink.
The saving grace was that the linen and towels were clean. Not the cleaners fault for the shower as they are having to deal with something that shouldn't be still in operation for guests.
Renovations stated as ongoing. However, not much sign, and this particular room should not be let out to guests with the general state of repair.
We mentioned this to reception on check out and she said, like the all the replies do when people leave negative feedback, 'you should have said'. Well we did say prior to our stay but it fell on deaf ears. Proactive thinking would be useful for the team.
Told check out was 11am, when we called for an extra half hour. This surprised me, as on my booking confirmation (we booked through Expedia) noon was stated. They did allow us to 12.30 but forgot an hour later. Will not rush back.
