I really like the machiya experience when coming to Tokyo. The unique feature of this property compared to other machiyas I stayed at is the outdoor Japanese style tub. This was awesome at the end of long days walking around in Kyoto.

This is a wonderful townhouse right in Gion. The house is spacious, clean, and very nicely appointed. Highly recommend!

The house facilities are up to our expectation and it is comfortable and cozy. The only problem that we encountered is it's very inconvenience to go their reception office just to check-in and get the key since we are having few large luggage. Besides, we have to find the reception office based on the gps, and then the staff just give us a guided paper map to the house that we were going to stay. We got lost as the house is in quite and narrow road of Gion.

The place is nice and clean very comfortable nice location we love almost everything about it except for the check in process, First the instruction how to get there wasn’t as clear is very confusing, checking in was a hassle especially that day was raining we asked for early check in since I have a toddler but it was denied so we have to walk around the area which is fine but the place to get the key or checking in is different from the place to stay so that’s another hassle with all our luggage’s under the rain we have to drag them with the not so clear instructions and the place is about 10 minutes walk again so by the time we get to the house is 5:30pm, they should have somebody lead us the place or help with the luggage atleast since checking in is not the same as the place where staying it’s a lot of wasted time so we ended up just staying in the hotel. it says hotel but it’s more like an Airbnb style so with that I give them 3 star.

Great location in Gion and a fantastic traditional house with everything you need. Great service from the reception upon arrival. The only very minor issue was what to do with our bags after check out (it was a hassle to return them reception back down at Kyoto station ). I would definitely recommend and we loved our stay!

Its a newly renovated, well maintained cosy house with large living, nice kitchen, 2 bedrooms on upper floor and the highlight is the open tub bath, which gives feeling of open air, but also is private from prying eyes.
