I was not satisfied with the room nor the breakfast offering. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable, the outlet in the bathroom was not GFCI, there were exposed cables along the wall in the room, we did not have a TV and for the amount I paid I expected a decent breakfast. Paid for two nights, left after one.

The people are amazing but the bed was very old

The Brandon Inn is an old world, wonderful Inn. Very big and airy. The rooms were large. My bed was a little hard, but overall very pleased with our stay. Would stay again.

The hotel is nice enough, our room was comfortable and warm. Hot water at the bathroom sink took an age to come but the shower was fine.
The staff we met were nice too but the thing that really bugged us was the standard of breakfast. A choice of four kids cereals, some breakfast bars, a small orange and a small bun. There wasn't any juice and the coffee maker dribbled a thimble full in about ten minutes. It really was the poorest effort of a breakfast in all the hotels I have stayed in in the USA, and I have stayed in a lot!!!

Nice historic hotel, nice downtown area

The Inn is adequate with a decent room and excellent bathroom. The price was good but reflects what you are getting. It is a very old, historic building which could be maintained better. I had a 4th floor room and when I asked about the elevator, the desk person said reluctantly "well, I'll have to go up to get it." I opted not to impose on her. It's manually operated and requires staff. It appeared that only the cleaners actually use it. I noticed other guests lugging their bags up and down the staircase.
The halls, stairs and common areas are dingy. There was a closed tavern and dining rooms where a lot of the lights were left off by the staff. This coupled with the self-serve check-in and check-out appear to be holdovers from the pandemic. The halls had many areas where the old wallpaper was peeling back. My room was at the end of the hall where a couple of rooms had doors left open and there was a dresser in the hall, like it was being stored there. Overall, the inn feels gloomy and stale. The room was alright with a really nice, updated bathroom that made up for it.

To start, this hotel was built at the same time when America was developing. Despite the age, is was clean! The room was cold, no thermostat was found. We were given portable heater that didn’t last, it broke down sometimes during the night. Worked up to a cold room again (we stayed in February). But we had hot water in the shower. In summary, for $130 room in a small town not bad.

I loved the historic inn. The room was huge and comfortable. I loved how the inn and room was decorated. It took a little while to get hot water to the 3rd floor. I wish the cafe opened at 7 A.M. we ended up going next door to a diner because they were open early.

Great town. The location is fantastic but the inn is very tired

The hotel's ambiance is very nice, if you like 1930s style, we do, it was very clean as well. Staff was nice when you saw them, which was very little. Issues: we stayed in the winter, all radiators on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors are off. Only the 1st floor entrance are they on. If you can find someone, they will provide a space heater, unfortunately we needed another for the bathroom, which as you can image the bathroom is very cold in the morning. Additional towels were hard to find as well. The free nreakfast is really just some coffee. Beautiful building, I hope they can make it.

I was going to a hockey game in Middlebury and decided to stay overnight somewhat nearby. I checked-in before the game. The lights where going on and off in the lobby. The lady who checked me in said they had some fuses blow and are working on it. We still took the elevator to the fourth floor and she showed me how the code lock system worked. I had trouble locking it, and was kind of in a hurry to get to the game. She went up and locked the door.
When I got back from the game around 7:30. They were still having electrical issues. However, now the boiler was involved and there was no heat. The same person who checked me in, told me I could get a refund, or stay for half off. I took my chances and maybe 30-45 minutes or so, the heat did come back on and the power that was going off and on briefly stayed on. The hotel is a neat old gem. It has a big drawing room and function room that was probably an old ballroom. It has a lot of character. My room and the the hotel in general were clean. So, I'm glad I took the gamble, and it paid off!

Cozy room, nice and warm, comfortable bed, great shower. Quaint Inn , no tv or phone or refrigerator, which was fine. Continental breakfast offerings were minimal but nice little diner/cafe in building. Also had a bar in the building for guests. It was central to the tiny town with easy walk to food and shopping. Town is beautiful!

I love how much character this place has and the people were very kind. The pub had excellent food and I love it’s dog friendly. The room was large and well appointed. My room had a tiny shower that didn’t get very warm and there was some hair that wasn’t mine. But all in all, especially as it’s very affordable, I would definitely stay here again.

Property failed to text room codes as promised for checkin. I left my Christmas gathering and returned home as I did not know what to expect and the Inn was 30 minutes farther from home.

Gorgeous inn, quaint , antiquish, staff operated old elevator , our room was spacious , cozy, the bed was hard as a rock made for uncomfortable sleeping “def need to upgrade matress”, no tv in room, no small fridge, shower warm not hot - which made for quick showers, neshobe cafe , pub and on site restaurant were welcoming, friendly staff, excellent selection of food - inn was busy with the Xmas season activities was lovely to see the town folks enjoying events run at the inn - accomodating and friendly staff
Overall we enjoyed our stay - inn just needs to make a few improvements or upgrades

Wonderful and quaint. No elevator or TV or phone in our room but we didn't miss them. Staff was outstanding and so friendly. Cute village and close to Middlebury

Staff was great! Very pleasant and accommodating. Disappointed there wasn’t a TV in the room. Also, because of the old elevator we felt like we were disturbing the staff every time we needed to leave the room. We were on 4th floor and I was unable to use stairs because of health issues. This was nothing against staff because they were always helpful and had pleasant personalities!

This inn is in the process of being updated by new owners. You can expect a combination of lovely antique surroundings and high-tech room locks and phone-friendly check-in. The 1906 elevator was an experience! I chose to use the stairs after experiencing a bumpy ride. The chairs in my room were so comfortable, with plenty of surfaces for belongings, snacks or desk-work. A breakfast cafe provided a wonderful meal and baked goods to bring home.

During our last stay at the Brendan Inn, we had a great time in VT and were excited to wind down after a long day of hiking and skiing. We booked a room specifically advertised to have a jetted tub, however not only was that not included, our room was having issues with the hot and/or cold water, which made taking a shower very unpleasant. Upon notifying the front desk we were told "there might be nothing we can do" to where I was shocked and figured that we could just rebook a different stay in a different town if all the rooms with functioning water were booked. The owner came to address the water situation himself, however upon learning there was indeed an issue, offered no recourse aside from suggesting taking fast showers, kind of silly. After a long day, all we were really looking forward to was a nice long hot bath, we would have even been pleased with at least a reduced rate considering the jetted tub and hot water were amenities that were advertised and not provided.

Decent historical hotel in the heart of the town

Charming old inn in the heart of a cute historic town. Keep in mind that their elevator is run by the employees so if they are tide up with guests or away from the desk you either have to wait or take the stairs. We were on the 4th floor and we were able to catch a ride up when checking in but checking out we had to take the stairs which was a little cumbersome with our bags. Downstairs there is cute little cafe that we grabbed a delicious breakfast at and there are many choices dinning choices within walking distance.

After notifying in advance of late arrival (twice with response from staff) they were not prepared for us. Cafe wasn’t opened at stated time in the morning and am lobby coffee was a keurig (no creamer) with a line of 10 people. This place is for casual weekend leaf peepers looking to recreate Gilmore Girls scenes and don’t need hair dryers. But if your Lorilei coffee fix is legit and you just need a place to crash on your way elsewhere, this is not for you.

A historic gem that was very beautiful, clean, and quiet. The staff was always cheerful, friendly, and helpful. We were impressed with the staff that was attentive and anticipated our need for help negotiating check out with our luggage on the 4th floor. Easy walks to great restaurants, shops, and park. Would highly recommend the Brandon Inn for a great place to spend time in a gorgeous piece of New England.

Room was nothing more than attic. Bathroom was dirty and has low headroom. tripping hazard many places. Elevator was ancient and was operated by an attendant and very rough and had tripping hazards. Breakfast was just muffin and coffee.

The room and inn were nice, mostly clean except for a bathroom shelf. It’s what you’d expect from an old building - creaky floors, etc. The beds were comfortable and it is in a great location. Breakfast was disappointing. There wasn’t anything hot and options were limited, even for a continental breakfast. But they did have hard-boiled eggs and deli meat and cheese, so it wasn’t just breads.

Very clean, friendly staff, great setting and surroundings.
A special experience.

Hotel staff were lovely. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi tub in our room, the reason we chose the more expensive room, did not work. The suite was pleasant and what you would expect in an older hotel. Wish when we asked where we could get dinner that the staff suggested the hotels pub. We went around town looking for a spot for dinner and only realized later that we could have eaten at the hotel’s pub. Would have rather and the food looked great! Breakfast at the cafe next door ( included in the room rate) was lack luster. The cafe’s regular fare was not available, only a limited continental breakfast, so we ate out.

From the outside the building looks nice. However I would not recommend this property. The building is in bad shape. The bathroom sink didn’t drain. The base heater was broken so they used a small space heater that did not heat the room. The floor is so slanted you actually see it. No good coffee or breakfast. Just lame all around.

It was good. Had everything I needed for my stay.

Such a unique place to stay. An old but clean building full of character. The manually operated elevator was a cool experience, and our room was so large. Friendly staff as well.
