Dealing with Hula Now and staying at the Islander on the Beach is one of our favorites parts of coming back to the paradise of Kauai. Would HIGHLY recommend! This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

First -We loved it was on the beach with nothing obstructing the view (other than a few trees)! Such a beautiful view!! It’s not a luxury condo with fancy frills, but it met all we wanted for our stay. Somewhat outdated (older cabinets, shower pressure was so-so, and the smoke alarm was disabled) but it was clean and quiet and that was what was the most important to us. The gardens are BEAUTIFUL. We were very happy with the price for all we got. The bed is nice and very comfortable! Air conditioner worked great, which was a must for my husband. There’s beach chairs and an umbrella provided, as well as a soft sided cooler. You have to walk 3 flights of stairs as there’s no elevator, but we didn’t mind that. Shopping and grocery store nearby was such a nice convenience!! . We loved eating at the next door restaurant, Lava Lava, our favorite restaurant we tried in Kauai!! Cocktails at the pool tiki hut was also a huge plus (strong and tasty!). I would DEFINITELY recommend this place if you’re on a budget and want a great location overlooking the ocean!!! Overall fine. Price was cheaper than the property`s hotel owned units. Great location, directions for check in clear via email, etc. Some extras were available like beach umbrella and chairs,& yoga mats, which was nice. Overall pretty clean, but some items should probably be replaced due to age and wear and tear, like a discolored toilet seat. Shower curtain had a strong sour mildew smell, so needs a very deep clean. Pillow had a mildew smell as well, but i flipped it over and it was ok. Shower has very little water pressure and shower head should probably be replaced soon. Was told a reasonable amount of paper products would be provided and then I`d have to buy the rest on my own. Well there were two toilet paper rolls for a ten night stay for two people. That`s a bit unreasonable in my opinion. The location was great! Everything we wanted and needed was easily accessible. Our balcony faced the beach and had an amazing view! I will definitely recommend and hopefully visit again soon. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

The room was pretty clean with the exception of someone’s makeup or self tanner smudged on the fitted sheet when we pulled back the covers. We simply rotated the sheet and did not complain due to our fatigue from attempting to make it there and not be charged for another night we were not present for since our flight had been cancelled the day prior. When we reached out about possibly not getting charged for the night we were unable to be there, we were met with the comment, “Well there’s nothing we can do. We didn’t cancel your flight.” As if I had cancelled my flight. I know your staff did not. They obviously could not have but that insensitive, complete lack of empathy comment matched with the small refund of $18 because we reached out to VRBO and they said we had to be refunded a minimum of the tax for the night, along with the dirty or stained sheet, AND having to check out and move to another room because of “mandatory renovations” that the Islander on the Beach staff knew nothing about.. We needless to say, did not enjoy our stay as much as we had hoped we would. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

The unit was clean, the bed comfortable and it was nice that 2 beach towels, beach chairs and a little cooler bag were available for use. The complex is a bit dated (and a little worn from the sea/salt exposure), but the waterfront view is awesome. Nothing fancy but the value is great and it is in a great location to go anywhere on the island in not too long a drive. Plenty of places to get food if you don`t want to drive too. Check in was easy, we didn`t have any problems while we were there. Kitchenette is small but allowed for us to keep perishables in the small fridge (worked well) - we used the gas grill down by the pool. The view is fantastic, the location is great,the bed is very comfortable, the landscaping on the property is lovely. Unfortunately the room itself is old and tired, definitely needs a refresh. The sofa was grimy, cleaning utensils were left in the bathroom, there were long black hairs in the bathtub, the safe was broken and there was no instruction binder. At one point we asked for some more soap and were told we only get a starter kit. We tried to change the garbage and there were no garbage bags in the unit. We asked for more and were assured we would receive them but we had not by the time we left to come home. You definitely will not be disappointed with this condo. The view of the ocean and the sunrise is absolutely gorgeous. Super easy to get here from the airport and there is a shopping center right next to it. It’s located on the 3rd floor and there are no elevators, so keep that in mind. We loved being right on the beach; lovely welcome by the host with hawaiian music, air con on and local goodies. Very comfortable bed and a great location on the island. Parking was really easy too. Highly recommend staying here.

Positives first - great view of the ocean, wonderful grounds around the complex, nice pool, grill was fine, easy parking and easy to get washers/dryers in the laundry room. The entertainment unit was excellent, though no instructions how to use it. Negatives - This apartments appears not to have been renovated since Hurricane Iniki in 1992. Kitchen range/oven is rusting and the refrigerator is functional but old. Microwave and dishwasher were relatively new. The carpet is old and rather gross. Mice in the apartment. Called Val, who is suppose to address all our concerns...responded only to repair the electrical front door lock that took us 6 tries to open when we arrived after traveling 24 hours. The problem reoccurred a day and half later. Left her a voicemail message about the door and the mice. Never heard from her. The door did work fine after that, but mice turds and urine were never addressed. Really gross. The phone number for maintenance on the wall of the apartment is disconnected. I told Val, but no response. The shower faucet is ready to fall off at any time. We had no fire alarm. It was disconnected from the ceiling. We found it on the top shelf in the closet as we were packing to leave. Old and yellow. The mattress was comfortable, but the pillows were old and cheap. We saw other units in this complex that were lovely. The summary of this unit on Vrbo says nothing about no linen/sheets exchange nor unit cleaning until after you have put down your deposit. Then lo and behold, no linen/sheets exchange nor cleaning unless you pay for it. We were there for 11 nights and we had to pay for these services? I have stayed in many places in my life, but this was a first. Another way for the owner to increase his profit. The daily rental fee is more at much nicer apartments in the complex, so again, you get what you pay for. If this is what you can afford then fine, but if you are looking for a lovely apartment in Kauai, do not rent this apartment.

Beautiful location and the price was right! Yes, upgrades are nice, but then the cost goes up, right? Our unit had everything we needed for the week, and the view!! That’s the money shot.. we will be back. Mahalo

This was an amazing location! Right on the beach and equidistant from both sides of the island. Comfortable and nicely appointed condo. Fall asleep to the sound of the waves.

We walked into this room, and were immediately awed by the beautiful view. The furniture is a bit dated, but we found the bed comfortable. The room got quite warm during the day, but it cooled down enough at night that we never had issues when we went to bed. The kitchen was not stocked with any food items (spices/coffee/oil), and we had to ask for an extra roll of toilet paper, because they had only left one. The manager was quick to respond to our questions. There were plenty of shops and restaurants a short walk away from room, which was very convenient. There were a lot of tiny ants in the kitchen coming in through the window, but other than that, the room was clean.

This place delivered what it promised by providing a stone's throw access to a beautiful beach in eastern Kuaui. My wife and I stayed here four nights as part of our 10-year anniversary and we were not disappointed. We ended up having slow mornings to make breakfast in the kitchen and sit out on the balcony and just enjoy the sound and sights of the waves. This is walking distance to several restaurants varying in price and cuisine. It is also within walking distance of a market and a great bakery. The place is comfortable and perfect for a two-person stay. Would definitely stay here again if possible when we return to Kuaui.

Our unit had a balcony with a beautiful view. The complex is located within walking distance of a grocery store and restaurants. If you plan on swimming it is a bit challenging getting in and out of the water so make sure you bring water shoes.

We were able to hear the sounds of the ocean at night, which made our sleep so enjoyable. The unit is very simple, but the location was magnificent. Hula Now was very responsive to our needs, and provided us with timely information about our stay. Highly recommend Hula Now and Kapaa Sands resort. You can't go wrong with any unit here, as long as it is ocean front!

Unlike hotels, there’s no one really to complain to onsite. We had a routy group of wedding guests up each night and loud on their porch or on the lawn. It’s a budget friendly spot with just as great a view as a five star hotel, without the crowds. You have access to a small beach and you can listen to the waves from the unit with your windows open. There is a full kitchen with all the amenities/appliances you’d need to cook in. The bathroom is small but provides everything you need. There is a pool, a shared grill and a laundromat on the property. The location is great! Both a coffee shop (an Aloha Roastery) a fabulous bakery with great malasadas (Passion bakery) and even a shopping center (Coconut Marketplace) within walking distance. They host a farmers market some days in that shopping center as well. But you are on the southern end of Kapaa which is located pretty halfway between North & South Shores. You can make a day trip to either end and make it back home for dinner. You aren’t far from Big Save Mart or Safeway if you need groceries. And there are tons of restaurants within a few minutes as well. This unit has a great lanai where you can sip coffee as the sun comes up, a queen sized bed and a small dining table. There is no AC but there’s a overhead fan, an extra plug in fan and with the windows open it has a great cross breeze. I would happily live here if I could. :) but 10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone. It was a perfect getaway for my husband and I. We were looking for our own space with a pretty view and this was a perfect paradise!

The property is located in the middle of the island and so both the north and south end of the island were easily accessible. The main problem that we had was finding good meals. Making reservations any place in Kauai is very difficult. This was not the fault of the rental agency. We would recommend making reservations for good restaurants far in advance.
