the people! loved the vibe. breakfast was great (esp as a way to meet people). great facilities, too
volunteers were all great, but it did feel weird that some of them were quite profiteering off the guests (eg bbq’s at the hostel were more expensive than local restaurants, hostel bar would close & volunteers would sell beer they bought from grocery store). felt schemey and confusing at times

- Great location, next to a beach and just at 10 min walk to downtown. Nice view of the ocean from the houses.
- Good breakfast.
- The bar is very nice to meet people.
- A lot of activities are offered.
- No stove in the kitchen.
- The quality of the dorms is very variable and depends on the houses. My first dorm was nice, with curtains for privacy, but the house is located next to the main road so it was very noisy (you have 3 different houses). I asked to change and fortunately the staff was understanding and accepted it. The other dorm was quieter but no curtains and the shower was ridiculously little.
- The staff is mostly nice, but one guy wasn't at all. Didn't wake up on time one morning to prepare the early breakfast and then was very unpleasant and put music very loud while it was very early. Another day, he cooked with someone and made a lot of noise at 1 am. Another day, another staff member did not wake up on time neither for breakfast, but at least apologized.
- The signs with "ti****s" and "pe**s" wrote on it next to the bar. Guys, it's 2023, it's not ok to be that sexist.
- The surf school the hostel is working with is quite mediocre. Most of the teachers are not involved and are more interested to take waves themselves than giving you advice. And they stopped giving us shoes, so a guy and I got sea urchin stings and I had to insist to have them back then. The boards have no wax neither so when you don't have shoes, you slip. Better to find another surf school or surfing by yourself I you have the level for it.

Warm, open atmosphere, easy to meet people and a great living room to chill out. Everyone is having breakfast together, really cosy. The staff is happy to help you out with anything!

The vibe, the people, the location, the breakfast, the rooms, the VIEW, the proximity to the town Center and clubs, this place was a delight to stay at.
The shower 😂 I don’t know why so many places in Portugal have tiny showers but this was one.

Breakfast included and lots of organized activities. Close to beach and city centre. really good atmosphere.
Rooms could’ve been a bit cleaner. We stayed for quite some nights and didn’t receive any new towels or sheets. brought my own also so it wasn’t too big of a deal.

We thought we had booked an ensuite room, we were disappointed to find out we had a shared bathroom. also we like to cook our own breakfast, we were hoping to use a kitchen. apart from that, it’s a cool hostel.

Lovely views and lots of space in the common areas. Friendly, easygoing staff. The breakfast was lovely with the eggs you cook yourself (you can control hard vs soft boil) and quality buns. I would stay again
Not necessarily a bad thing, but there are multiple houses at this property. I stayed in a quieter house close to the water, but it meant I had to walk 200 m to get to the breakfast room in the morning.
The staff were not super knowledgeable with beginners when it came to choosing a board and wetsuit.
No great bike storage area.

Friendly guests, cool views, funky decor.
At check-in I wasn’t properly oriented to the hostel I so missed out on many features that I would have liked to enjoy. A staff member would routinely make sexist and inappropriate “jokes”, which was really uncomfortable as a female.
Perhaps because it’s low season the staff didn’t organise many surf trips, but when they did it was either without an instructor (when guests were encouraged to surf big waves despite there being no lifeguards) or nobody showed up to pick us up in the morning. This is made worse by the fact that none of the staff or volunteers surf and couldn’t help navigate to any of the swells coming in.
I was in a private room and found the mattresses firm as a rock. The shared bathroom I was using had a shower malfunction, so I was told to use the shared dorm bathroom instead despite having paid for different facilities.
I would have liked to share this feedback with them but I was not asked about my experience at all, not even during check-out.
I’ve stayed in a number of surf hostels around the world; I wouldn’t recommend this hostel to solo travellers aside from in the summer when I hear things are more lively and better organised.

I had a great stay here. The volunteers and guests were very friendly and there were plenty of activities such as surf lessons/trips and dinners organised. The breakfast was great and had a good atmosphere.

Everything about this place is great. We had a private twin room with a terrace which exceeded expectations. Overlooking pria du sul and walking distance to all the great restaurants in town. Friendly workers put on food nights throughout the week and added to the chill vibe

Excellent views, great staff, great guests. The staff cooked the most delicious dinners, the bar on site is great. The surf lesson was great. Would come back.
Breakfast starts at 9, which for me is a bit late and there wasn't laundry, but that's fine.

We had the private double room which was a very cool vibe. The hostel is spread over a couple of houses so doesn’t feel crammed. They also organise daily surf and yoga as well as lots of other activities like dinners etc. The breakfast is simple but good and just a short walk to town and to the beach.
if you are staying in the house with the hangout area it can be quite loud at night and also the walls are a bit thin. More just if you’re sharing a wall with the bathroom

The houses are super nice and the staff really go out of their way to make sure everyone has a good time, you also can get a lot of tips from the staff if you are and intermediate/advanced surfer on were to go.

(town apartment) very spacious clean and a good location. we were originally meant to stay at the chill house in a double but we assumed it was the en suit room in error. (it clicks onto a picture of the en-suite/ I misread the description) However, they were very kind to offer an alternative apartment accommodation for not much extra money which was a nicer place to stay despite the stairs! good exercise mind 😀!
