Fabulous location. Magnificent views. Spacious room. Proximity to the beach. Friendly and attentive staff.
There was nothing I didn't like. I just wish I could have stayed longer!

Love the location. Love the ambiance. It is my second time staying at this hotel. My wife loves the Spa there.
The balconies in both of my rooms were shut closed due to construction. I did not see or hear any construction.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Great location right in the heart of Waikiki. Walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. They kept the beach clean even after tons of tourists use it every day. Beautiful old main building with a huge Banyon tree in the middle of the terrace bar area.
The bathrooms were a bit small along with the pool area. But then again you are there for the beach.

Can’t beat the location, right on the beach room is of course old but comfortable and nice.
Nothing I would rate negative

In general, the staff was great withe the exception of the security staff. I found them to be discourteous and overbearing.
Loud construction right outside my room(which wasnot mentioned on website or when I checked in. I was eventually moved to a room with a balcony I could not access because of structural deficiency.

The staff were extremely helpful and delightful.
The breakfast buffet was a bit average, for the price.

Fantastic location. Extremely helpful staff. Beautiful hotel.
Room was a bit small, but we accepted this because we wanted the views and location.

Wonderful in every way.
Like Oahu in general the food was overly expensive. However we don’t go to Hawaii, or the USA, for the food (or more correctly the scarcity of real food).
9.0
Gorgeous property and conveniently located.
Air conditioner was loud and smelled musty. We both came home sick with sinus issues. Could not open the sliding door for fresh air.

It’s gorgeous, right on the beach.
Has a pool but the seating is limited, I was not able to use it.
The amenity fee is extremely high, doesn’t even provide a beach chair.
Unfortunately the grounds are not monitor so the seating is taken up by passersby.

Beautiful historic palace located directly on the beach and in the middle of shops and restaurants.

The property felt so much like home instead of a hotel. We made use of the tables and chairs at the lobby to have coffee bought from Honolulu Coffee and enjoyed the breeze. Our room was spectacular, facing the Pacific Ocean and palm trees. Every night we slept to the sounds of waves crashing in. The toilet was a good size, not too big or small. Appreciate the walk-in shower instead of a bath tub which sometimes can be quite hard to get into and out for the elderly. We took less than 3 minutes to walk out to the beach and was there 6am-9am every day before the sun kicked in and got too crowded. In the late mornings, we would explore, eat and shop. In the afternoons, we would come back to the hotel and sat on the rocking chairs in our room to enjoy the breeze coming in from the balcony and then make our way to the many beach bars around the hotel. All the major malls, bus stops and trolley stops are within walking distance. Will definitely be back again!
No space in the shower booth to put your own shampoo/bath wash. Side table between the rocking chairs was not provided as per photos.

Beautiful original (1901) building and banyan tree terrace restaurant and bar right next to the sand. Nice feel of old Hawaii.
Not their fault , but we couldn’t use our balcony. They gave us a nice credit back tho.

Great location. Friendly staff members. Restaurant/dining options on property is a plus.
The room was smaller than what I expected. We got a room with a king bed. Just enough space to walk around the bed. The bathroom was also small with a standup shower that leaked onto floor every time we showered. Informed housekeeping and was given extra towels to soak up the water.

a little noisy o. the city side

Very comfortable room.
Very disappointed that we weren't able to use the balcony. We do "beach" vacations quite often and the balcony is where we like to enjoy our morning coffee and also evening views of beach/sunset. One of the reasons we booked the partial view room was to at least see the water from our balcony.

Just the location
Needs a good renovation especially the original part very dated!! room was quite smelly and small and definitely not sound proof at all from the other rooms either side

Location and weather. The staff were very accomodating.
Room was relatively small. Unable to ever get a lounge chair by pool. Our bathroom was so small nowhere to put our toiletries. No bathmat in tub. Falling hazzard. Despite asking houeskeeping to scrub sticky door frames and refrig door, they were still sticky like from a lollipop. No hand sanitizer available in room. Felt unsanitary.Never had the same housekeeper. Curtain rod is broken. Bathroom wallpaper torn. Safe looked dirty. Cost to stay here and what I expected, did not match up. $60 for 2 hamburgers.

The Moana Surfrider is a beautiful hotel, with all the pleasures of an updated resort with incredible charm! The room we stayed in was quite small, and I do not recommend facing the street as it can get very noisy. Nonetheless, we would absolutely stay here again!
Our room was quite small and faced the street (it was loud at times)!

Rooms were a little small, pool was small. Expensive

The lobby area is beautiful, location is right in the middle of everything, very busy. If you like being a part of it all this is the place to stay.
I felt duped. Always wanted to stay in this beautiful, luxurious hotel. The lobby is just that, but only the lobby area. The room was so disappointing, very old/dated, in desperate need of renovation, dark and gloomy. We stayed in a tower room. Ocean view was a peek only and a close up view of 100 rooms of the next hotel over. I wondered why no one was in the pool…it was frigid. Pool opened at 7am. I was there at 6:40 and got the last 2 lounge chairs. Other “saved” chairs weren’t occupied until 10:30.

Location to the beach was great. Staff was pleasant and helpful and the room was clean.
The charge for parking was ridiculous. That was way to much per day for parking and it took as much as 30 minutes to bring the car to the hotel to use. Even after calling ahead of time for the car it took to long. The cost of a cup of coffee was not acceptable at the coffee area by the pool, two cups of coffee almost $20. That was bad. The room was too small, and uncomfortable. No dresser for clothes storage, and the safe was on the floor. Had to get on my hands and knees to open or close the safe. The TV didn't work as well as the remote, asked about exchanging the remote, they wanted to send a tech to the room. The power outages were not appreciated.

Comfortable Bed and daily linen change
Hopeless line ups for meals
60 pool side chairs for 1200 guests!
No policing of empty pool side chairs blocked by absent guests who leave their towels for endless hours
Worst pool and beachside facilities we have ever experienced
8.0
Located in the middle of Waikiki Beach, I can experience both sides of the beach and shopping centers. With direct beach access, the view from the tower, especially overlooking Diamond Head, is superb. Spending New Year's Eve by the poolside for a party was an amazing experience. Considering the high number of guests, the management is well-maintained, and the room condition is excellent.
Staying in the tower, be prepared for occasional crowding with three elevators, especially during peak times or approaching checkout around 10 AM. The Beach Bar gets quite busy from 5 PM, making it challenging to find seating. We opted for buffet breakfast throughout our stay, which was decent but not particularly remarkable. Dining nearby with two kids might be inconvenient, making the advantage of enjoying a relaxed meal with a sea view significant. Arriving around 9 AM may involve some waiting, while before 8 AM tends to be less crowded.

one of the best locations, we are working our way around all the hotels in Oahu and this is one of the best locations for shops/restaurant and beach.
