We loved the location. The apartment was very clean.. The lounge was exceptional and the sofas extremely comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed.

We hadn't realised that one bedroom had a bunk bed for one adult which as we're of a certain age was a bit difficult to climb down. That room would be perfect for a young family. The other two bedrooms were excellent. We also thought that the shower and bath were separate but luckily there was a separate toilet plus one in the bathroom..

Stunning cottage/apartment set in the grounds of the English Heritage Finchale Abbey on the edge of the river Wear. After all the holiday maker go home it’s like a private country estate. The accommodation is so comfortable and enormous and the staff delightful and so friendly and helpful. There is nothing not to like really. perfect for country relaxation, yet close access to Durham.

The Wi-Fi is not great (just in case that is essential), it works but can be patchy - a combination of the remoteness and super thick 13 century walls (in parts) in the original part of the house. But don’t let that put you off going!

Finchale Abbey Apartment is a fantastic property - lot's of character and an amazing location - not just for the Abbey itself but also for exploring the local area. The apartment is very well decorated, lovely furnishings and well equipped throughout. Cosy & warm - and a great place to spend the evening after exploring the area. Will definitely visit again!

Nothing really. Is next to a grand ruined abbey open to the public, but privacy and security was okay.

A lovely well appointed apartment, very spacious and the decor was beautiful. Peaceful and quiet by Finchale Priory and next to the River Wear. The welcome pack with milk, fruit, bread, biscuits, etc was a lovely additional touch. Also toiletries provided and well equipped kitchen with dishwasher tablets, washing liquid for the washing machine was something we hadn’t expected, but very welcome. Any queries were dealt with very easily and we had an excellent break. Would definitely return.

Friendly staff, great location and interior! This was our second stay. The last time we thoroughly explored the area on foot. This time we took trips to Durham (15m away) and Seaham beach (~30m). It feels secluded despite being very close to many things.

Beautiful, peaceful location. Fantastic, spacious accommodation, very well appointed with quality furniture and fittings. The owners/staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Email and telephone communication and administration of the booking were very prompt and informative.

There really isn't anything to fault, unless you're a recluse and don't want to share the beautiful location with visitors to the Abbey, which is an English Heritage site.

The location is absolutely ideallic!! And was a true harmony if I am honest
