Wonderful property with awesome views. Very quiet place to sit back and relax. Owner communications were excellent. Place had everything we needed for our vacation.

We had a great time exploring the area. Both Bar Harbor and Schoodic Peninsula were within reasonable driving distance to the cottage! It was great to have a cozy place to come back to at the end of the day! We saw a bald eagle out of the front window multiple times and the stars were amazing from the deck at night! The bedrooms got a little cold at night because the main heater is in the living room, but space heaters were supplied for each room. Overall, it was a great trip and I would absolutely stay here again!!

This place is amazing! Right on the water with the option to kayak from the house. Well stocked kitchen and spectacular views. Nice deck area to have your morning coffee or sit out and look at the stars. Check in process was easy. During our stay we got to experience a tropical storm and our power went out. Dean was there to hook up the generator and we carried on with our trip. We would stay here again!

This beautiful home was exactly as the pictures portrayed. It's location is ideal Quiet and beautiful in all directions. The rental is absolutely spotless.
The rental is so well stocked. My husband and I cook quite often and I don't think there was ever anything we needed that wasn't available. Unusual in many VRBOs we have rented. We also had plenty of paper products...paper towels, TP, and dinner napkins.
During our stay we saw turkeys, a porpoise, eagles, otters, and many deer. Watch out driving in at night.
Many things to do and places to eat nearby. We spent several days hiking in Acadia NP. Jordan Pond hike was a favorite, but go early. Parking is difficult. Another favorite was Great Head. Be prepared to scramble and climb a little. Also, make sure to spend some time on Schoodic Peninsula.
We learned a new plant that we saw growing everywhere. Rugosa Rose. A helpful neighbor named the plant for us and told us about it.
We didn't eat out except for a few lunches, but we did find Mount Desserts Pie Company on Lookout Point Rd. It was wonderful. Blueberry was our favorite, but the lovely owner invited us into the kitchen to try the Strawberry Rhubarb. Also, very good.
You won't go wrong with this rental and you will keep busy every day, but save time to sit and just look out the windows!

I don’t think there could have been a better place to stay. The house was the most well stocked and had so much charm. And the view!! We woke up to enjoy gorgeous sunrises over the bay, and after hiking in Acadia National Park, would bring dinner back to enjoy the amazing ambiance of this place.

Quiet and peaceful, the stars were bright. The view was even better then the pictures. Sunrise was beautiful. Kayaks were nice to get out on the water. We would stay there again.

I would recommend this location.

We enjoyed our stay at this wonderful property. It was so clean and had everything we needed . Wonderful view !!! We enjoyed watching the lobster boats in the morning . We had great bike rides on the carriage roads in Acadia Natl Park and the trip to Cadillac Mountain was amazing. So many great places to eat, just not enough time! We had a great time and made many favorite memories .

Hopefully we can get back there again.

This home has the most amazing views. You will not want to leave. Our family had a great time venturing into Acadia and Bar Harbor and then couldn’t wait to get back to our waterside retreat. Waking up is a treat in this home. We found everything we needed to make great meals and it was great using the kayaks provided. Highly recommend this property.

The view is just like the pictures. We woke up to sunshine in our windows and shimmering off the water. We saw seals, an eagle, lobster boats, and even a cruise ship or 2. I recommend this beautiful place, so much space and so charming.

My husband and I have been planning our week at Water's Edge in Hancock Point, Maine for over a year. At least once a month, I would view the video of the property and imagine ourselves there. About seven months ago, I finally officially booked our week in August, and we cannot rate this property highly enough. Booking was clear and simple. Dean communicated everything we needed to know.
The property is simply beautiful and exactly as depicted on the video. We sat in front of the picture window for hours--reading and then, gazing out onto the bay, and then reading some more and then, watching bald eagles, ospreys, and seals. Once a deer came up to the side of the house; we also saw a puffin, a goldfinch and a hummingbird. We rarely left the house, because we did not want to leave the beauty of bay of the Atlantic Ocean. Our usual frenetic pace back home was on hold, and we were totally unplugged. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. We both read two books cover to cover and started a third before we left.
It was the ideal "getaway" for this busy couple. However, it would be just as wonderful a base for a family who wants to hike and explore Acadia Natl Park or shop in Bar Harbor. Before we left, we took photos of our picture window framing the blue waters of the bay which will forever remind us of this most relaxing time ever.

This place was truly a treasure! We enjoyed exploring the quieter side of Acadia, with all the hiking, biking, kayaking, and wildlife we could hope for! From starting our mornings sipping coffee looking out over the water to falling asleep to the sound of gentle waves, we can't wait to return!

We fell in love with the property the first time we viewed it on our computer. The view was spectacular! The house was just great. Dean made our stay easy. Access to the clean property was all we really needed. He did check in once to let us know he was coming to mow and at the time did ask if everything was ok!. Thanks for allowing us to rent this wonderful home right on the ocean. It contributed greatly to our long awaited and much anticipated Maine vacation.

We really enjoyed it, and my wife in particular enjoyed the kitchen set up.

This clean and well maintained home is directly on the ocean, with incredible views of Acadia National Park and real working lobster harbors. The house is comfortable and clean…on a tranquil dead end street with effectively no noise from the outside world. It’s a great retreat within a 35 minute drive from the noise of Bar Harbor (20 mins to Schoodic!) and all the surrounding communities are beautiful. This of course is during the day…wait until night when no light pollution is there to spoil God’s canvas.
Dean is wonderful to work with, my kids loved the loft bedroom, and I’d recommend the home anytime.
Hiking, sailing, kayaking, nature’s bounty …and good food all nearby.

We loved our stay at Water’s Edge! We will probably be returning in the future with our respective families! It’s beautiful and the location is central to so many things that are within easy driving distance. We were without electricity for about 12 hours because of a storm, but even so we enjoyed our stay. I left a message with Dean to see if there was anything he needed us to do at the house in regard to this, but my call wasn’t returned. We reported the power outage after some research to find the electricity provider. That’s the reason for 4 stars on communication. Otherwise, loved our stay!

My husband and I came up to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and let me tell you - it was the stuff of dreams. The house and the sights were -if it’s possible- even better than the listing shows. Both my husband and I are nature lovers so being able to be so close to Acadia and just the water in general did wonders for our souls. By far my favorite place we’ve gone for a vacation so far!

My family and I had such a lovely time at this property. It was described accurately, clean and had the most amazing view of the bay. We were about 45 minutes from Acadia and 20 minutes from Ellsworth. No complaints.

Our second stay at Dean’s wonderful property. Fabulous view, clean, tidy and comfy home, great communication. Really nothing more one could hope for. We will come back yet again!

We chose to stay here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We were a little nervous about going in the winter, but the weather was fine, and the house was heated well and very comfy. The view is unreal and it was the primary reason we chose this place. You can just stare at it for hours watching the sky and water change colors, tides come in and out, and ducks swimming by. On clear nights if you turn off all the lights you can see so many stars, and their reflection in the water. The location is very private on a dead-end. We are big hikers so we enjoyed all the trails in the area. The place is very clean, and the appliances are all nice and seem new. I highly recommend you book this place.

The pictures do not do justice to the views from this house. The views from anywhere in the house or from outside the house are just incredible. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood, great for morning walks. It was such a serene and peaceful place to use as a base for exploring Acadia NP and the surrounding area.
The house was so clean and well stocked with whatever you may need while on vacation. We felt like the host thought of everything to ensure that the renters have a great, relaxing time. If the house was available, we'd have extended our stay by another week.
The host responded to any questions that I had and his recommendation for a local place to get fresh lobsters was spot on. Btw, the place is The LobStore, about 20 mins away.
We're already planning our next visit.

If you’re looking for a place away from the crowds with a spectacular view, this is it!!! My husband and I used the house as a base for our trip to Acadia National Park. We got there at night & were immediately drawn to the reflection of the full moon off the water. Then the next morning we were treated again by a beautiful sunrise! I can see why so many people in previous reviews said it’s hard to leave the couch!!!! The view is so pretty both day and night! The drive to Bar Harbor and the Schoodic Peninsula is about 30-40 minutes from the house and was beautiful this time of year. The house itself was very clean and had everything we needed. If you are planning a trip in the fall, I would recommend making dinner reservations if you would like to eat at any of the local restaurants. We got lucky and were “squeezed in” at two of the restaurants but were told reservations are required at most places. Dean is a great host and lives nearby if anything is needed. We had a great stay and loved exploring the area!

Such a wonderful cottage - clean, open and bright and FANTASTIC views!! We enjoyed the sunrises and the wildlife that kept us entertained throughout our stay. Breathtaking.

Waters Edge did not disappoint. The views are unsurpassed, almost didn’t want to leave the house. We saw multiple eagles, seals, hummingbirds, woodpeckers and even dolphins from the house. The kitchen was stocked for our needs. We weren’t aware the house didn’t have AC until we got there, but it wasn’t a problem at all. The hosts were very responsive. Amazing visit to Maine!

CLEAN and considerate things like dish liquid, shampoo and conditioner dispensers, hair dryer, napkins, paper towels, toilet paper etc. at property. Quiet, peaceful a true “getaway”

We had another fantastic week at Water’s Edge. Eagles, seals, hummingbirds…we love the house, the location and the amenities. We’ll be back next year!

What an amazing location! Every day we watched seals play in the water catching fish and a pair of eagles flying around. Lots of birds to see! The sunrise and sunset were so beautiful. We enjoyed kayaking around. The week we went was rather hot, but not too bad with the breezes. Just a warning that most of the loft area has a lower sloped ceiling, but our petite teenager loved it. Of course we went to Acadia for a couple days, but honestly it was just as enjoyable to stay at the house with the up close views of wildlife. You might want to partially close the blinds on the window over the deck when it is sunny, as we did have a bird fly into that window. The host is very responsive with any questions. Great place!

Breathtaking Sanctuary!
Wow, this truly is God’s Country. Upon opening the door of Water’s Edge, we were blessed with breath taking views of water, islands, feeding seals, cormorants, and two loons. The rest of the week we had daily visits from seagulls, a majestic bald eagle, a variety of birds eating berries from bushes, more seals, lobster boats checking traps, sailboats, and kayaks. Morning coffee and the magnificent salty air was an amazing way to start each day.
We did manage to pull ourselves away from Water's Edge to hike Acadia national park and experience the host recommended nearby natural wonders such as Tidal Falls! As a family we enjoy meals at home all of which was more enjoyable in this fully equipped kitchen with fantastic views and a sense of gratitude and peace.
This comfortable home, with lovely furnishings, vibrant photos, and all necessary ammenities made this trip extraordinary. Thank you Dean and Denise for being incredible hosts and allowing others to experience the beauty of this northern Maine sanctuary!
