À l'étage, à l'abri du bruit d'un petit lieu de réunion du village, se trouve un appartement de style loft ouvert aux hauts plafonds cathédrale. Conçu et décoré comme un cottage historique du Maine. Confortablement meublée, cette propriété est l'escapade romantique parfaite. Un excellent emplacement, avec des commodités à proximité.
La cuisine moderne et confortable répondra à tous vos besoins. Beaucoup de salles à manger à l'intérieur, ainsi que manger en plein air sur le pont, juste à côté de la cuisine. Le loft et la coupole sont des retraites privées pour les enfants de votre groupe, comme si vous dormiez dans une cabane dans les arbres! This apartment above the Post Office in the tiny village of Owl's Head is one of the most-unique places we've stayed during our world travels. We were there over New Year's weekend, and in winter things tend to shutdown around here.
However, the magnificent solitude and coastal walks out to the beautiful Owl's Head Lighthouse was just what we were looking for as a serene way to welcome in 2024.
For such a small place, there's a ton of room in the apartment with a queen bed on the main level and more upstairs. We appreciated the well-stock galley kitchen, where we prepared a NYE feast of fresh local seafood.
Off the back is large, elevated deck, which wasn't a great place for sitting in winter, but must be spectacular overlooking the gardens in summertime.
Doug was a very helpful, gracious host who checked in via the app to ensure that we had everything we needed, and even let us have a late check out on New Year's Day.
We'd highly recommend this lovely apartment, and definitely hope to come back when the weather is warmer.

We enjoyed a long weekend in this lovely and well appointed property. It was clean, had everything we needed and the outdoor private area was the icing on the cake! This property is right next door to the general store and seven minutes from downtown Rockland. Over all very happy!

Already missing this place! Beautiful property, and full of character. The cupola is a perfect spot for reading with a cup of coffee. Lovely backyard with gardens and a pond. Close to Rockland and Camden (great restaurants/shopping--don't miss Primo for farm to table dinner) and the Owl's Head General Store right next door for coffee, yummy breakfast sandwiches, chowder, and the famous 7 Napkin Burger.

We loved staying here!!! Perfect experience for maine excursion. If youre in the areea of rockland this is the place to stay. Close to town and amazing place to stay next to owl genertal store. Doug (owner) was amazing!! answers every question promptly and was easily available. Would stay again!! Thank you soo much!!

Such an interesting fun place to stay. Great location near Rockport and Camden. Check in was easy, Gardens were beautiful! Thanks for the coffee, and the vases of flowers were a welcoming touch.

This is our second stay at the post office and we still all adore it. From the teenager who likes having her own loft room to the husband who loves the views and the light from the copula - everyone has their space. The porch is a perfect place for tea and a book and you can’t go hungry with the general store next door. And it’s so easy to get to Camden or Boothbay or Acadia. Being able to kayak around bay was one of the highlights of the trip this time. We didn’t want to leave.

Unusual interior, but fully functional and very beautiful. Convenient to everything from Owls Head to Camden. Lovely deck and great “crows nest.” We had a perfect week.

We stayed in the post office for a week in Maine. The beds are comfortable, the water pressure is good, and the food at the general store next door is awesome!
We could have spent a week just at the post office, as lovely as the back yard is!

For several years we have bee trying to vacation in Maine, staying at the Owls Head Post Office. Our week there did not disappoint. What a fun place for us and the children plus our two dachshunds. Every day we discovered something new in the apartment. The bunks in the cupola were a great hit with our granddaughters. The backyard grounds are super as is the deck just off the kitchen. We made use of the General Store next door; the food was great. We are already thinking about a return trip.

We arrived the first Sat in June and the temp was 42, so we were very happy that the heat worked very well. This cottage is so cute, just as advertised. Very clean, comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. The gardens are beautiful. We highly recommend!

I loved this place. The owner was helpful when the cable went out. The grounds are beautiful. There is not much to do in the area, which would be the biggest concern and nothing against the rental itself. A couple of things to note that I wasn't aware of: there are a lot of stairs to get into the main part of the unit (I had to carry my blind dog up and down each time it needed to go out), none of the bedrooms have 4 walls (the master is in the living room), and you can hear the post office opening up on work days (not a big deal, but it caused my dogs to bark every morning). Overall, we loved the place and would go back. It was convenient having the store right next door and the house was stocked with many extras that you may need. It was probably the cutest rental I've ever had. I loved the charm of the place.

We had such a lovely holiday at this property. It was everything we wanted for a trip after the busy Christmas season. It comfortably fit our young family of four. The crow's nest was a great hangout for the girls, but was a bit to nervous to let them sleep there (a bit steep for a 3 year old).
We have returned home very relaxed after a week of enjoying the best seafood and taking some amazing strolls around nearby scenic areas (it reached almost 60 degrees in January!)
Several restaurants and stores are closed around this time of year, but there are plenty still open. We just had do to a bit more research and made sure to make reservations. ALL of the suggestions for food were greatly appreciated and exceptional! We've been to this area before, but missed some of the restaurants suggested. We look forward to returning!

A delightfully eclectic and unique accommodation perched above the post office! Loved the fun themed decor. Kitchen is well stocked with a very comfortable dining area. Everything very clean with comfy beds. The gardens were amazing. Despite cooler weather during our October stay, we enjoyed the lovely deck just outside the kitchen. A great stay!!

This was a trip for our 19th wedding anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay! This is the most unique place we've stayed and it is everything we wanted for our trip. The living space was cozy and comfortable, particularly the queen bed in the living area. The amenities available in the house were beyond adequate; the hosts left everything needed to make our stay enjoyable. But, I think our favorite part is the gardens and the view from the deck into the gardens. Simply tranquil. We enjoyed gazing at the full moon in the garden, and having a cozy bonfire at the fire pit.
This is a pleasant little town and you definitely should not miss the Owls Head General Store! We ate the best pizza and breakfast sandwiches we've had on a vacation. Even better, the folks at the store were wonderful to both us and our dog. We're glad we took the hosts' advice in regard to dining. Thank you very much for making our trip so special!

So owls are thought to be wise and choosing this great spot in Owls Head, Maine for our autumn getaway was one of the wisest travel decisions we’ve made! Convenient to many of the popular coastal towns, this great rental has the feel of home, a very unique history, and owners that could not be more helpful or welcoming. We would not hesitate to stay again and have already recommended to others!

Cozy, whimsical, unique. Without spoiling the surprise when you enter, i will just say your jaw will drop and then youll smile. What Doug has created in this historic space is beyond words to properly describe the experience. This was just perfect in every way.

We’ve stayed here 3 times because we love it so much. It’s in a great location. We love the interesting architecture, beautiful grounds and (small) but very well-equipped kitchen. Great places to walk from the house. Great towns nearby. Rockland is just 10 mins away.

Repeat family vacation after loss of my husband. Kids said it was as much fun as last time and that the post office was just like they remembered! Wonderful new memories and lovely to share precios happy memories. Lobsters, burgers, beaches and an amazing garden with flowers, butterflies, birds and hummingbirds. My parents joined us and described it as a magical place!

We had a wonderful time staying at the Post Office in Owls Head. The property is impeccably done. Our two kids loved the bunk beds up in the cupola! The grounds are equally as lovely. A great place to stay.

Owl’s head delight
We loved staying at this unique place. The only quibble is my husband found it hard to sleep through the early morning trucks going down to the harbor. With 3 roads converging in front of the post office I figured we would hear some traffic. We live in a very quiet place. I think most people would not be bothered. The flower gardens and the view from the balcony were a big plus!

Review from my 12 year-old!
The house was very clean and unique, and was a really fun experience. Similarly, the backyard was spacious, and had a little fire pit in the back to use.
But, the best thing about this house was the location. First of all, the house is located right next to a general store, were we ate most of our meals (and they were delicious). Also, with the kayaks that come with the house, you can pop them on the dollies and wheel them down the short walk to the boat ramp, and enjoy a beautiful paddle around the bay. Also, If you are looking to go to Acadia, the cottage is just close enough that you can get there in a decent time, about 2 hours.
Overall, you will probably be spending more time out of the house than in, but when you are in the house, it is a very comfortable and unique experience.

Our 3rd stay at the Post Office (and we hope not the last!)
My wife and I spent a week at the Post Office with our Bernese Mountain Dog, Beigli, and enjoyed it even more than our previous stays there, which we also loved. It's hard to imagine a cozier, more comfortable, more cheerful spot to relax, cook delicious meals, and take advantage of the coastal hikes, beaches, and restaurants in the Penobscott Bay area. Highly recommended!

Doug was a fantastic host, and was very accommodating. We loved all the local beaches, and using the Kayaks to explore the coastline.
