Conçu par Alan Dodge, il est ouvert, rempli de fenêtres et de lumière, magistralement géométriques, et se marie à merveille dans les bois environnants. Vous entrez dans une grande salle décorée avec un milieu du siècle, la sensibilité non-pointilleux. La cuisine est ouverte, entièrement équipée, et se prête admirablement à la cuisine de groupe et des cocktails. Prenez vos repas dans le spectaculaire projeté en salle à manger. Dehors, il y a des ponts wrap-around, un barbecue à gaz Weber, et un patio dallé de niveau inférieur avec jardins de fleurs et un étang de koi courante. Et le meilleur de tous, la douche extérieure est situé loin de la maison et vous donne un sentiment de communion avec la nature, mais aussi en privé. Il y a une tanière confortable avec une télévision à écran plat, Apple TV, et un lecteur Blue Ray. La maison est remplie de livres et de films, wifi, lave-linge séchant, chaises de plage, des vélos et un système de son haut de gamme.
La maison dispose de trois chambres formelles chacune avec dressing et terrasses privées. Deux ont lits queen, et la troisième peut être configuré comme deux jumeaux ou un lit king. La quatrième chambre a un lit queen très confortable taille canapé convertible. Une bibliothèque au large de la grande salle peut être transformée en une cinquième chambre. La conception unique de la maison permet de la vie privée dans chaque chambre. La maison est entièrement climatisée, même si elle est aérée et rarement nécessaire.

Open, airy, beautiful vacation house, tastefully decorated, with several nice features that put it over the top: really well-stocked and organized kitchen; a screened-in dining area that gives you the feeling of eating outdoors; cozy decks off the primary bedrooms (in addition to ample patio and deck space on 2 levels); modern A/C units; comfortable beds and furniture. Unlike many houses for rent, this one is extremely well maintained -- usually there's a broken screen that lets the bugs in, or some plumbing issue. NOT here! Clearly the owners are on top of everything. And both of them couldn't be easier, more pleasant or responsive! We will surely be back.

Great family friendly vacation
This property has lots of room for people to gather and visit. The backyard deck and patio are fabulous. The owners were so kind and generous. They freely allow use of their home and its contents. We used a lot of their suggestions and loved all that Wellfleet and their home had to offer. We had a great week

Family vacation
For the second year in a row, this has been a wonderful house for 3 generations of our family. There are common spaces to gather, indoors and outdoors, and also private spaces for individuals and families .

Lovely stay in Woodsy Wellfleet home
Three generations of my family gathered at this home for a late June week. The house was spacious and comfortable, with wraparound decks that provide little sitting nooks outside each bedrooms and one big outdoor eating patio. There were 3 comfortable adult bedrooms, and kids all did well on the pullout couch or cots. Kitchen is well-stocked and easy to work in. And the outdoor shower is such a treat! Location felt private with space for kids to explore, but it was so easy to pop into town when we wanted to. The hosts were warm and responsive from the first interaction. We couldn't have found a better spot to relax with family.

The house, the gardens, the outdoor shower, the screen porch/dining room were all perfect. And Steve and Gwen were very helpful both before arrival and during our stay. Wonderful stay in Wellfleet
The Alter’s are gracious, thoughtful hosts. They readily provided us with a guide to the area and welcomed us with a bottle of wine. Their gorgeous house is surrounded by trees and flowers. The deck is a lovely place to read. The open kitchen/living room is bright and comfortable with mid-century modern accents. The bedrooms are comfortable. The outdoor shower is delightful. We throughly enjoyed our time in this tranquil setting.

Great house and wonderful neighborhood.
The house was perfect for our extended family--plenty of room and privacy for everyone. We also loved the easy access to nature trails and bike paths, and we made use of the owners' kayak on Gull Pond. All in all, a great week.

What a perfect setting for our family gathering! Lots of space and opportunities for mingling, sharing meals and conversation. The screened in porch was a fantastic addition to the space in the main house and everyone appreciated the privacy of the bedroom suites. Would rent again- Evelyn

Spacious & comfortable!
Gwen and Steve's home was a great choice for our Wellfleet vacation (4 adults and 6 teens). The living room and dining porch provided "together" spaces, while the bedrooms, multiple decks and other nooks & crannies allowed for alone time. The weather during our stay was uncharacteristically hot & humid, and the house's high-quality air conditioning was an absolute lifesaver! Likewise, we certainly made extensive use of the ZEN outdoor shower, our very favorite thing about a stay in Wellfleet. The outdoor shower at this property is a vacation unto itself!
The quiet, woodsy location gives guests easy (driving) access to all of Wellfleet: ocean beaches, bay beaches, ponds, town and harbor.
Every convenience is provided in this home. Our group enjoys cooking; my litmus test for a house rental is whether the kitchen is equipped with a salad spinner. When I saw one in the cupboard, I knew that we had made a great choice.
Lastly, the Alters were exceptional hosts. Of course they were not present during our stay, but they were available by phone/text when and if needed.
The only shortcoming of this rental property is that it does not have a water view, nor is it within walking distance of a beach. But it truly wins in all other areas.

The house was lovely inside and out. It was roomy and comfortable and situated in a quiet area - a perfect place to relax. We enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.

The heart of Wellfleet
This was our second time staying at the house and what a pleasure! Our family had a new experience of Wellfleet with this house. A huge kitchen with everything you could need to cook, a large screened in dining room, and a deck with propane grill.So much space for us to spread out and be comfortable. We went to the pond or bay every day and made use of the outdoor shower and the laundry room (a huge plus since we are a big group). Each bedroom has a private porch and is separated from the others for privacy and has AC. Secluded enough so that you can't see or hear the neighbors but close enough to get to everything in town, the pier, etc. Really the house is a dream. Thank you to Steven and Gwen for opening up your home to us!

fantastic family or couples vacation
We were there with a few couples and everyone had accommodations and space to be part of the group and also separate when privacy was desired. Kitchen is well equipped for high end preparations of meals. Views are fantastic and again private from every room. Plenty of room for relaxing exercising. Also a great location- near bike routes and easy to get to water sources (ponds, ocean and bay) and shopping. An overall wonderful experience.

A perfect house for an extended family
This is a beautiful house in perfect condition. There is a wonderful view from every room. This is the right house for an extended family with both lots of privacy and lots of space to be all together. If you like to cook and have big family dinners this is the place for you.

Terrific home for family reunion! Great location!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this lovely home. It boasts a delightful, airy great room, terrific for conversations and hanging out. The dining room is a glassed in porch with plenty of screens and is a particularly nice spot to sit in during evenings. The home's central location made trips to town, beaches, ponds and golf convenient and quick. Add in a well appointed kitchen and comfortable beds and you can see why this modern gem worked beautifully for our family reunion.
