Good room and restaurant , the staffs are very helpful and polite.

It is little far from the town and temple. The hotel staff can arrange the auto. It would have been better if they could arrange shuttle service from temple to hotel.

I arrived in the city by bus and the hotel is quite a distance from the station. I had to walk a while before I was able to get an auto rickshaw at a decent price and paid 200 INR. The property is in a nice quiet area but there is nothing near the property which could be a bonus for some. The staff was very welcoming and helpful with all questions. The room is large, there was toiletries, ample hot water, wifi worked well and the bed sheets were clean, which was not always the case in other places I had stayed in throughout India. I cannot eat Indian food and the restaurant on the premises was able to accommodate my requests. I had a tour organized through the hotel and it went very well. I went all the way to the amazing Gingee Fort, came back in to town to see the Temples and went to the Dreaming Tree restaurant which had fantastic western food (A bit pricey though). Altogether it is a nice quiet place to stay but like I said, it requires a little TLC.

It was a nice quiet stay however the property and rooms are not quite as pictured. A little TLC is required and this is evident with the pool. The pool is across the parking lot and not within the hotel complex. There is a larger pool which is quite nice but the smaller pool next to it was empty and had quite a bit if garbage in it which was not very pleasing to the eye. The pool is within a walled area and the walls are all black. This part of the hotel needs immediate attention. The restaurant is quite nice but offers only vegetarian options. I did not use the TV in the room as it had no English channels. I took the local bus back to the city bus stand from the bus stand that was about 500 metres left of the property. It only cost 10 INR but I had to wait a long time before there was a bus that was not full ( there was literally people hanging out the bus doors).

They don't stick to their menu for food. Have buffett one day all of a sudden and also you don't get all the food on menu every day atleast till when I stayed and they did not provide me with restaurant bills Little far from town, so travell cost adds up

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Athena hotel. Having initially booked for 30 nights I subsequently extended for another ~2 weeks. The staff are wonderful. The location is not entirely convenient for the Ramana Ashram, which is ~45 minutes’ walk away or ~8 minutes by Autorickshaw (~150 Rs). The location has the advantages of being less noisy and polluted than being in the immediate vicinities of either the Ramana Ashram or the Arunachalesvara Temple. Girivalam Road is close by via a short access route that joins the road at the Niruthi Lingam.
