Bed bugs (!!) in the bed and the sofa made my whole trip a terrible experience. I'm still scratching my wounded skin even after a week have passed. It actually took me a while to realise it was bed bugs. when I let the host know about it, he tried to suggest that maybe it's me who brought them to the apartment. What he should have done is offer me to leave the apartment and get a refund for all my suffering, but instead just suggested to spray the bed while we were supposed to keep sleeping there. Also after contacting booking, he refused to refund. I wouldn't trust that this host solved the problem, and therefore suggest to avoid this place altogether. attached are photos of what I discovered in my bed at 3am. I would spare you the photos of how my back looks like :( Edit - answer to host's response: 1. It is much more probable that they were already hiding in the sheets, rather than clinging to my suitcase or shoes. my luggage and shoes where not anywhere near the bed, and if they hid in my luggage, i would still have problems now, but i don't. 2. bed bugs are attracted to specific blood types, out of two people sleeping in the same bed, they will bite the tastier one. so my friend not getting bitten, doesn't mean anything. 3. previous guests don't necessarily have to get bitten. bed bugs don't feast every night. so previous guests not complaining, also doesn't prove much. 4. it's very hard to find these insects. a special company inspecting the apartment need to know what to look for. otherwise they would miss them. 5. took me time to realize it's bed bugs and not mosquitos. that's why it happened after two nights out of the 3. 6. you said I refused to accept the "help suggested". well, I'm very sorry I don't trust that your spray is 100% safe. I think most people would prefer to change a home rather than sleep in a chemically / biologically sprayed bed.

The contact with the owner was amazing, very responsive and helpful. We worked in the apartment for a week and it was great, wifi was good. A lot of light and great view.

A bit noisy because of the tramp outside the apartment, but double proofed windows reduce the noise. No A/C but we asked for an extra fan and we got one asap.

The service was very organized, the hosts made contact with me and helped me to locate the accommodation by taxi, as I was coming from the airport. As I had to comply with prophylactic isolation due to the trip, I had guidance from places that made food delivery and grocery shopping. We took a quick tour of the house and all doubts were resolved.

I needed to stay another day at the accommodation and couldn't go out to withdraw money to pay, I asked for a bank transfer and was informed that there was no account I could do this. I found something strange, since it is something so common to have a bank account, or credit/debit card machine

Great place in the middle of Alfama. A lovely old-fashioned flat, with beautiful wooden floor and two large windows over the Tago river. Manuel, who runs the place, is a great host, very attentive to the guests need and took care of a minor twitch with the tv very promptly. Perfect quality/price ratio for such a central location in Lisbon. Would definitely consider going back again.
