We loved the house! We are 4 families who have vacationed together since our kids were pre-teen. They are now all out of college. There are 17 of us so we used every room. The guest to bathroom ratio was a huge plus for us. The home is beautiful and historic. The beds were comfortable the back porch and patio great for morning coffee or afternoon cocktails We found a booklet of historic homes in the neighborhood so we enjoyed exploring and finding them. Im greatful there are people with the vision and patience yo restore these historic gems.

This house has such historical beauty! What a gem! We traveled to Davenport for our son's wedding and filled every one of the many rooms with our family. The bride's family reserved the companion home nextdoor making for a wonderful few days. Can't say enough about the uniqueness of this place from the artwork to the chandeliers, to all the detailed ceilings and fixtures. Everywhere you looked was a new treasure! We hosted the rehearsal dinner at this home and it was perfect! Lots of space for a gathering inside and out. The back porch was our favorite place to be - plenty of seating, a firepit, lots of string lights, etc. We didn't want to leave!
A huge plus to this place was the abundance of bathrooms. Every room had it's own. We also appreciated the fact that there were two laundry rooms. Can't wait to see prewedding photos from the wedding photographer. He fell in love with the place and couldn't wait to have the opportunity to take pictures around the home. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Interesting place that was large enough to accommodate our families and our kids. It was so nice that each bedroom had its own full bathroom and made for super convenience. The backyard came in handy one of the evenings for kids to play. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the AC units worked seeing that each day there were in the 90s. Small deduction for cigarette butts left on back porch and yard from previous guests and the neighborhood can be a little suspect but you can’t fault owner for that. Truly a lovely home and overall we enjoyed our time there.

Pleasantly surprised to find everything so charming, comfortable and accommodating for our family of 13. Decor, artwork, antiques and attention to details are much appreciated.

We had 20 people of various ages in the house for a family reunion and 90th birthday celebration. The kitchen was well stocked and the bedrooms all were unique and enjoyable. The house is like a museum, an "eye spy" game and a constant source of discussion. The location is ideal for the river front and old town Davenport.

We had a great weekend gathering from all around to celebrate college graduation. House was perfect. Loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom. So much space and options. No complaints!

Pure Joy Was My Wife’s Expression
This was the perfect home for my wife’s 50th birthday party as we celebrated with a ROARING 20’s theme. Decorations were not needed, as the home itself, was the backdrop of class, sophistication and had the old-style vibe. We entertained guests arriving from Minneapolis and Chicago who were equally impressed with the uniqueness and character of the majestic home.
We enjoyed exploring the nooks & crannies of the mansion. From the exquisite chandeliers to the detail in the wooden built in’s, to the stained-glass windows and vintage décor… our guests were in awe of the craftmanship and detail of this beautiful VRBO home.
My wife also researched the mansion and learned all about the life of the original owners, who built the house back in 1895, which made our experience so delightful. They were German immigrants who spent their entire lives in the brewing industry and moved in right after they retired.
The current owner of this home was a delight to work with and the maintenance man was equally as kind.
“Pure joy” is the expression on my wife’s face this past weekend. We relished each minute of our time at the old Koehler Mansion.

The neighborhood was scary
There were bugs. Ants in the kitchen, and Lady Bugs on all the beds. There were a few dead flies too. Maybe 10.
We couldnt get in because we were given the wrong pass code. Then when we got the right code the keys were NOT in the box.
Maintenance man was good. Each time we called him he responded quickly.

We loved our stay. As an extended family group of 14 adults, we were very comfortable in this large house. The fact that each bedroom had its own bathroom was an unusual luxury for a house with that many bedrooms. The common areas fit our needs for being together as a group as well as separating for individual activities. We were there over Thanksgiving and we were planning to use the grill, but didn’t notice until later Wednesday evening that there was not a propane tank. The handyman for the house was there in the morning with a new tank (on Thanksgiving). We chose to go to Davenport from Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois, and Indiana specifically to stay in this historic house and we were not disappointed.

Instead of getting hotels for our family for a family funeral we rented the mansion on 7th Street. It was wonderful! 8 big bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. Lots of space and everyone could be together. Thank you!

Our ladies group stayed in this home and thoroughly enjoyed our time there, for the most part, but there were a few hiccups during our stay. One big one was that it was terribly cold in the house when we arrived Friday evening. There were no main instructions to follow as to where heat thermostats were located. We tried the most obvious one that was in the dining room, but still weren't getting any heat. We finally found one on the third floor, but the first two floors were still very cold -- a little over 50 degrees. We tried using some of the space heaters that were in the fireplaces, but that didn't help very much. I tried contacting the owner through VRBO, but after waiting and not receiving a response, I called the phone number that we were given, but I had to leave a voicemail. Still no response. The next morning, I messaged through VRBO again and finally received an answer from her that she would call the maintenance person. We found out later that there was another thermostat in the kitchen (it looked more like a light timer and it wasn't in a very obvious space) and that it had been turned way down. We also found out that the one in the dining room didn't work at all. After that, it was a much more pleasant stay! :)
It would have been much more helpful if there had been an instruction sheet/book with information on heating, cooling, WiFi info, phone numbers, check out instructions, etc., instead of sticky notes placed here and there. Having stayed in many places over the last 20 years, that's one of the first things we look for in a home that we are renting.
It's a beautiful old home and knowing that it had undergone a recent renovation, we would have loved to have seen pictures of it from its 'day', before and after pictures of it during the renovation, and a little history of the mansion itself and the family who originally built it (unless we missed this somewhere).
They did a marvelous job in the renovation and the rooms are beautifully decorated! It was nice to have such a lovely and spacious home to relax in for the weekend!

This is a beautiful restored Victorian House near the downtown Davenport area. We had no connection to Davenport at all but were looking for a place to get away for a weekend with our immediate family. A very fun house and a great weekend.

Our group attends an away football game for our Michigan Wolverines. This year was against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Davenport home added to the overall experience of the group and comfortably accommodated 12 adults. Thank you to Lois, you have a beautiful home!

Our 4th year returning to this awesome place. Thank you Lois & Maurice. The guys (16 of us from HS) call it "The Nest". It is the perfect landing spot for our annual golf & psychology summit each August. See you next year.

My whole family, young and old loved this house! 13 of us stayed and more gathered for a memorial celebration. Plenty of room for all. The back porch was a great gathering area for catch up conversations. Everything we needed and more was there! The neighborhood felt a bit sketchy as we drove up but was NOT an issue in any way. Some of the beds were not terribly comfortable but again, did nothing to detract from our enjoyment. We even hosted a "High Tea" in period dress. I highly recommend this house for making memories

Wedding reunion
We gathered for my nieces wedding. Arriving from 5 different locations across the country. More than one of us commented on the property contributing to the enjoyment we all had in being together. The porch gatherings beginning each morning and into the evening were so perfect for us. We visited in the parlor, around the kitchen and dining tables. The most comfortable king bed I’ve slept in!
The threshold between the front doors needs highlighting! Everyone of us, young and old tripped over it. Only I went down like a tree! Ouch!

There is no way to summarize our experience because it would take too many words! This was the most incredible house and it’s charm wowed every person who walked in the door! Our bridal party’s were so comfortable with their own bathrooms and the bedroom with the balcony, AMAZING! We spent so much time on the porch, sipping coffee, drinking champagne, and playing with Jewel(our name choice), the backyard tortoise shell cat! If you get a chance to stay here, do it!

Beautiful
We do a cousins weekend every year. Usually 10-11 of us. We try to go to different places. About 7 years ago we stayed at another home around the block and took a walk. We saw them remodeling another home and decided that one of these years we would come back to say there. This was the year and it didn’t disappoint. They have done a wonderful job. We really enjoyed looking at all the little details they put into the home. We had a lot of room so we didn’t feel cramped. The kitchen is big enough that more then one person could be in there working without tripping over another person. It was well stocked with kitchen utensils too.
We are getting older and the amount of stairs were difficult on a few of us. Good exercise for the rest of us :).
We play games while we are together and the dinning room chairs were not comfortable for doing that.
We had a fabulous time and would definitely go back.

We rented this property to celebrate Thanksgiving with the whole family. My parents live in Davenport, but their home is to small for all of us, and we enjoy being together under one roof. This home definitely worked well for us. My brothers and their families all came in from Georgia, Texas, Missouri, Illinois, and we came down from Dubuque. Plenty of room for all of us, and the kitchen worked well for cooking a huge Thanksgiving meal. The owners responded quickly to any questions, and contacted me right away with check in information. It did get a little chilly in a couple of rooms, but overall … everyone was very comfortable. We really enjoyed ourselves.

This home was the perfect place to celebrate our 60th anniversary with family. Although ,he garbage cans adjacent to the front steps and the boarded up door at the driveway level made us leery when we first arrived. once we opened the door we were thrilled and amazed. The interior of this home is wonderful, so beautifully decorated and comfortable. The kitchen is well furnished. We love to cook when we're together. The back porch was great for getting outdoors. All of our family loved it. Unfortunately, the dishwasher was not working. and there was quite a draft around the window air conditioners. Overall it was a great experience and we highly recommend it.
