The owners are responsive and compassionate. The home is ideal for a small family getaway. The furnishings are nice and the kitchen is ready. This lovely home is close to many Asheville sights and attractions.

We had a lovely, warm stay over Christmas eve and day. The Christmas tree and decor made it all i had imagined. We were a 12 minute drive to the Biltmore front gate, and visited downtown Asheville too. It was great to cook some special meals and share around the dining room table. Happy to find some decks of cards too!

This was the perfect place for our visit to see Biltmore decorated for Christmas. It is VERY convenient to everything you could want in Asheville, especially the Biltmore. The property was as described, and very clean. Prior reviews mentioned the traffic on the street outside, and as also mentioned, we did not find this to be noisy at all. As a matter of fact, my Apple watch indicated that the nights we spent there were the most restful (periods of deep sleep) that I had my entire two weeks on the road. No doubt this was also due to the comfort of the bed/bedding. We would definitely stay at this lovely cottage again, if we're in the area in the future.

We absolutely loved everything about the Stone Cottage!!! The owners truly have thought of everything to make this beautiful little house a home away from home for their guests. The kitchen is huge and has fully stocked with bakeware, cookware, crockery, glassware, flatware and appliances and utensils.
The bathroom is also quite roomy with plenty of counter space. And the owners are NOT stingy with their fluffy and absorbent towels!! (There's a whole cabinet full of them.)
The beds were quite comfortable, and the black-out window treatments keep the rooms nice and dark for sleeping in.
And the sofa...oh, that incredible sofa! It's huge and it's wonderful to sink into it after a long day.
On top of everything else, the owners thoughtfully have put together great instructions for how to use the TV and an organized binder of things to do in and around Asheville based on your interests.
We can't wait to stay here again!!

We could not have been more happy with our stay at The Stone Cottage. We were in Asheville to attend a seminar at The Cove and the proximity to get on / off the property was a breeze. We found they had everything we needed during our stay. The King size bed was the most comfortable we have slept in. One night we had two other couples over for coffee and dessert. They all had no trouble navigating to the property and the dining area had the perfect table and lighting to host our friends.
We enjoyed the two binders of information on both the cottage and the local area - including excellent dining recommendations to Black Mountain. There was a lot of thought that went into planning for their visitors and we appreciated that.
Check-in and check-out were a breeze - and we hope to stay there again when we return.

The house is decorated nicely, and all the tourist information is very well organized into categories. Even though the cottage is on a busy street, the house is well insulated and quiet for sleeping. Although they have only one bathroom, they have put up lots of hooks to hold towels, etc. so it's easy to maintain a semblance of order. Can use a little more drawer space in the master bed room. The area is wonderful for hiking, and the town of Black Mountain is very close. They have wonderful restaurants, and the servers are friendly. I think you will have an enjoyable time visitng the area from the stone cottage.

The cottage was absolutely adorable, very clean with plenty of space and all the necessities. Location is great with only 10 min drive to downtown and about 30 min to beautiful hikes and waterfalls. We enjoyed our stay very much and can't wait to come back.

Say Yes to this stone cottage. The location is perfect. Just off of Hwy 40. You have access to every part of Asheville within minutes. The house is spotless and beyond comfortable. Brought my daughters up for a mid week summer shopping, eating spree and the stone cottage was exactly what we needed. A beautiful mix of craftsman and contemporary. Never wanted to leave and will definitely be back. Doug is a wonderful host and checked on us when we had a power outage. It was literally only 5 minutes, we were about to tell ghost stories... And if you are concerned about noise from the main road... Know the cottage is quiet as can be... We slept soundly. Thank you for sharing this Asheville gem.

This cottage is in a perfect location to visit all parts of Asheville. It's especially convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I was a little worried when we realized how close we were to the highway, but that worry was unfounded. We were not bothered at all with any highway noise. Very comfortable property. Nicely updated and decorated.

I wanted to do something nice for my Mom for her birthday and decided to bring myself, my Mom, my Daughter and invite my Aunt and Cousin to all meet in Asheville. This place was perfect for our stay. It was clean, had everything we needed while we were there & it was close to everything. We would definitely rent this place and stay again!

Wonderful house! The location was fantastic - 10 min to everything in Asheville. Quiet, cozy, and comfortable. We loved having a living room with comfortable seating for everyone to hang out. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utencils, pans, and dishes. The beds were all very comfortable with blackout curtains. Plenty of extra towels and extra sheets. The only thing we wished the house had was more blankets for beds — there aren’t any extra blankets. But other than that it was very comfortable and I’d recommend this house (and stay here again).

The property is on the main road but sits back so you don't even realize. The house is super cute and quaint with so much character! It has everything you need, was even stocked with books for adults and kids as well as some playing blocks which we loved!
It was super nice to have such an organized binder of things to do and places to eat- it took all the thinking and planning out which is mom appreciated!

Doug and Rachel have a lovely home. We enjoyed our stay. The beds were SO comfortable. Every member of our family talked about how they were the best beds.
The house has that historic charm which I love but the basement could use a few lights so you can see to do laundry.

Great location.. lots of space and comfortable beds .. only issue was basement stairs .. not to code and needs safety rail or stair modifications.. especially if elderly or mobility impairment.

The Stone Cottage was a perfect landing spot for our family of 6 as we took a short adventure to Asheville and Biltmore. We love old homes and this one did not disappoint! Cozy, well-appointed and east access to everything - the Stone Cottage allowed us to feel right at home after spending our days exploring.

Perfect Place for my husband and myself- loved the restoration, updated but true to the original home.
Organized and thoughtful in meeting needs to cook,

Reunion of 3 Friends
3 law school classmates picked Asheville for a reunion weekend. This house was everything we had hoped for when booking—affordable, convenient location, clean and comfortable, enough amenities for cooking meals, and enough space for hanging out to talk and reminisce. 5 stars for all of these things! Super convenient right off I-40 and Tunnel Road; very clean and comfortable mountain cabin decor and setting; plenty of great kitchen cookware, spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds; surprisingly quiet despite being right on the busy Tunnel Road. Not far from downtown Asheville or Blue Ridge Parkway so made for easy traveling and both locations. We would definitely return again and highly recommend this place!

Great home base between Ashville and Black Mountain
The cabin has been very thoughtfully put together. It is much nicer than a hotel, or most of the VRBO's I have stayed in. Even though it's on a hwy- the stone is very insulating and the cabin is quiet. Tall ceilings make if feel larger than it is too. Doug and family are great hosts- would definitely stay again.

Lovely change of scenery for our family road trip. Having a house for a few days VS hotel suites was very welcoming. The location was directly on the highway, which was a little loud, but convenient to most everything we wanted to do in Asheville. The property had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable.
