Benvenuti ad Alfred House & Cottage, una nuova proprietà di fronte al mare lussuosa e appartata con piscina privata all'estremità nord della famosissima French Leave Beach (precedentemente Club Med Beach). Non ci sono case tra questa casa e la spiaggia di sabbia rosa lunga un miglio dove un tempo si trovava un Club Med, la più ricercata località balneare di Eleuthera. L'oceano è turchese, poco profondo e storicamente sicuro, avendo servito bene il Club Med per molti anni. I bambini amano questa spiaggia poco profonda. Goditi migliaia di metri di spiaggia deserta, ampie vedute dell'oceano da ogni stanza principale e il suono e l'odore dell'oceano da ogni parte. Alfred House si trova a solo un miglio dalla città principale, Governors Harbors, che ha negozi e alcuni ristoranti eccellenti.
Alfred House è una casa in stile coloniale di 6 metri quadrati con 6 camere da letto (incluso un cottage con una camera da letto), situata a soli 25 passi dalla spiaggia. La casa è stata progettata e decorata per riflettere il sentimento rilassato delle cabanas del Bitter End Yacht Club, Virgin Gorda. Sia al piano di sopra che al piano di sotto di Alfred House c'è un muro di finestre in vetro francese, così quando passi attraverso la casa, vedi il mare ad ogni angolo. La casa è arredata con mobili antichi in tek indiano afflitti e pezzi personalizzati realizzati in teak, mango e legni di ciliegio e fotografie in bianco e nero di icone del cinema. Ci sono pavimenti in legno honduregno, soffitti in cedro di cipresso e piastrelle in marmo e ardesia.
Al piano di sotto, Alfred House dispone di una grande sala grande che si affaccia attraverso un muro di porte francesi in vetro sulla spiaggia e sull'oceano. La cucina a pianta aperta si affaccia sull'oceano e presenta scaffalature bianche in legno personalizzate con ripiani in pietra incrostati di conchiglie messicane. Gli elettrodomestici sono in acciaio inossidabile. L'isola della cucina è ricoperta da un bancone in teak di dieci piedi con sgabelli in teak abbinati.
C'è una master suite camera da letto al piano di sotto con vista sull'oceano e un bagno completo en-suite. Anche al piano di sotto è un secondo bagno completo con doccia walk-in.
All'esterno, il piano inferiore ospita un grazioso patio coperto adiacente alla piscina, un posto ombreggiato per godersi la brezza marina e il suono dell'oceano. Il pavimento della terrazza contiene un bel mosaico di conchiglia realizzato da un'artista locale. Il patio ha posti a sedere per bevande o caffè dove è possibile vedere e ascoltare l'oceano.
Il piano superiore di Alfred House ha altre quattro camere da letto. Le due master suite al piano di sopra dispongono di letti king size; viste sull'oceano spettacolari, grandi ponti e bagni privati. Le due camere più piccole hanno due letti singoli ciascuna. Ogni coppia di gemelli può convertirsi in re su richiesta.
Il piano superiore ospita anche un'enorme sala multimediale, un altro punto di raccolta, che si affaccia sull'oceano e mostra acqua turchese attraverso diverse porte francesi.
Il solarium al piano superiore, con la sua grande fila di persiane in mogano honduregno, corre lungo tutta la casa (60 piedi), con miglia di spiaggia e vista sull'oceano. È arredato con comode poltrone bianche.
La casa fronte mare con una camera da letto a 50 metri da Alfred House ha un enorme ponte rotondo di 1100 metri quadrati in teak che si affaccia sul mare. All'interno, la casa ha 800 piedi quadrati, una grande sala grande, cucina completa, camera da letto separata e un bagno completo. Il soggiorno ha due letti aggiuntivi che possono essere installati nel soggiorno, quindi il cottage può ospitare fino a 4 persone. Alfred può ospitare 14 ospiti.

My wife and I, along with four other couples, recently had an unforgettable stay at Alfred House in Governor’s Harbour. From smooth travel to stunning views, every moment exceeded our expectations. Arrival and Property Overview. Reaching Governor’s Harbour Airport (GHB) and finding Alfred House was seamless. The property was immaculate, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. Each bedroom featured modern bathrooms, and the fully air-conditioned interiors offered a cool retreat after outdoor adventures. The kitchen was well-equipped, and the BBQ was spotless, making meals effortless. The ground-floor family room, with soft white couches, was perfect for group relaxation, while the upstairs lounge provided additional comfort with plush seating and a TV. Outdoor Spaces. The pool, expansive veranda, and lush gardens created idyllic spots to unwind. The breathtaking ocean views made these spaces our favorite for relaxation. Beaches and Attractions. French Leave Beach, with its pink sands and clear waters, was enchanting. We also explored the turquoise Caribbean Sea and visited the Glass Window Bridge, where the Atlantic and Caribbean meet dramatically. A day trip to Harbour Island introduced us to charming beaches, vibrant local culture, and delicious cuisine. Convenience and Connectivity. High-speed internet allowed a few of us to work remotely without issues. Alfred House’s location provided easy access to restaurants, wine shops, and live music. Sourcing fresh fish from local fishermen for dinner was a delightful highlight. Practical Considerations. Alfred House was perfect for our family of 8 adults and 3 children. Great floor plan with lots of room with comfortable furniture. The beaches were fabulous. Casuarina Bay (right in front) was a little rocky and steep but good for snorkeling. We loved French Leave beach- the most beautiful beach I've ever seen. Beach was flat and easy for the children to play on. We had one windy day and drove (10-15 minute walk) down to Twin Coves- another gorgeous beach sheltered from the wind. Alfred House is a great location with a number of great restaurants close by- 1648, Tippy's, Buccaneer Club and Da Perk for breakfast! We also had Josh (local chef) cook for us one night- great food and rum punch! Yes the road is bumpy but well worth it. The interior of the house was very clean and beautiful but the exterior and upstairs porch could have been pressure washed- but I understand weather on a beach can be harsh on homes. Also the dishwasher leaked and stove was a little old but worked. Nothing that would stop us from returning for another fabulous week in this beautiful house and location!

It’s beautiful, we would definitely stay again. The location is epic! Amazing beach right outside the door, very close to town. It’s technically across the road from the beach, but it’s a little dirt road (more like a driveway). A few fast moving cars. We rented the optional cottage, which is on the ocean side of the “road”. It’s very cute. Be sure to rent an SUV as the road is very poorly maintained.
Comfortable furniture - Pottery Barn level. Beds extremely firm (not to my taste, but good for some). The upstairs “primary” suites are quite nice, but sorely lacking for a place to sit. Nowhere in house is good for remote work. Off of the bedrooms is a huge uncovered porch, but devoid of furniture, so not useful.
Net connection is terrible. There are two LTE providers in the area. If you see a Huawei modem in a photo it’s the wrong one. The villa we rented a few miles south used the (much better) other provider. We roamed on our cell phones instead. I note for the owner that Starlink is now be available on Eleuthera.
Staff were ok. Several told us that the owner doesn’t have good relationships with trades on the island, and it shows in their availability. We had a handyman issue that lasted all 2 weeks. We hired our own cleaner because hers (included in the rent) was sick. Owner declined to reimburse us.
Aside from these issues, we would definitely rent again. Hopefully this helpful feedback doesn’t preclude that!

I am about to be “that person” who says they never write bad reviews but in this case it’s true. I am typically a handle any issues outside of leaving reviews kind of person but I wish I would have been warned of these things before we spent as much money as we did to go to Eleuthera and specifically the Alfred House. Pros: the house is beautiful, the beach in front of the house to the right has amazing snorkeling. We saw sea turtles, a barracuda, and so many beautiful fish. This side of the island the water is a bit rougher than the other side but we still found it amazing. It’s also very private. We practically had the beach to ourselves for several of the days. Matthew who you book through is incredible and so helpful. The kitchen has everything you need for a large group. Cons: the road to get to the house is VERY rough. It has quite a few pot holes, lots of tree roots and the brush on the side was overgrown and scratched the sides of our rental cars. Thank goodness the person we used for our rental cars warned us of how bad it was and didn’t give us nice vehicles because of it. Christine, the house manager, was a bit hit or miss. We had a little issue the first night we were there of her getting upset when we couldn’t keep up with her driving to the house (we had 3 cars following her and we landed after dark so it was a bit tricky). We also had a hard time getting ahold of her once we were there to get questions answered and sorted. The grocery stores in Governors Harbour have very limited supply of fresh produce and meats, just a warning. The wood floors of the house are very noisy but most of us had kids and slept with a sound machine so that made it better when some people were walking around upstairs. The pool is also really nice but it’s very cold. Of course, we wish it was heated but not a huge deal. Overall, we felt like the house sadly wasn’t worth the price and effort
