Our 1-night stay was perfect! The cottage was clean and well-decorated with an open-air bathroom with a tube, it was amazing and gave us jungle vibes! Dasun, the owner, was very kind and helpful and together with his mother prepared a delicious dinner. The whole area was well maintained, the atmosphere was relaxing and it was a perfect place to chill out. Also they organized a great safari tour with a nice guide!

Dasun and his whole team are incredibly welcoming and friendly. We had a medical issue and Dasun went above and beyond to care for us and help us out in a foreign country. We can absolutely recommend staying at the Cottage. The food is outstanding, the property is well-kept and clean and the team is very helpful in organizing safaris, transfers or anything else you may need.

Dasun var väldigt mån om oss redan innan vi kom till hotellet. Dessvärre kunde han ej vara på plats när vi kom fram, vilket gjorde oss lite besvikna då vi hade läst mycket bra recensioner om just hans hjälpsamhet på hotellet. Han ordnade så att en god vän till honom var på plats istället för honom och gjorde oss bekväma. Vi bokade även en fantastisk safari via Dasun, och fick vår guide Harsha som var en helt otrolig guide och han lyckades visa alla sorters olika djur i parken.

Vi saknade Dasun vid ankomst men annars var vi väldigt nöjda med vistelsen.

El lugar es mágico. Las cabañas muy bien cuidadas. El baño exterior es curioso y muy bien hecho. El desayuno y la cena (si la encargas) son buenísimos y caseros. Muy sabrosos. El dueño muy amable y te ayuda en todo lo que necesitas, incluso para hacer un safari ellos mismo te lo gestionan a buen precio.

De gastvrijheid van de eigenaar was geweldig. Het eten werd door zijn moeder bereid en was uitzonderlijk lekker. We hebben een safari door de eigenaar laten boeken en alles is volgens afspraak gegaan en we hebben veel olifanten gezien!

Chouette séjour dans ce cottage réalisé avec soin, à l’écart de la rue principale. Rapport qualité prix parfait ! Excellent petit déjeuner et dîner pris sur place.

Cute little cottage. Spacious room and bathroom is outdoor. It was clean. Homemade dinner was the best part. Delicious meal from the hosts mom.

We asked to help us organize a "taxi" to go to ella and we were disappointed when we saw it was a old van with not the best condition and flies in it pull up to take us. Lesson learned: don't assume things and ask more questions to make sure there's no miscommunication.

Les cottages sont mignons. Le jardin est bien entretenu. Le petit déjeuner est préparé à la minute.

Difficile de dormir avec le bruit du ventilateur toute la nuit. Il fait trop chaud pour dormir sans (il n’y avait pas de Clim). Attention au prix du safari annoncé par l’hôte. Nous avons appris par la suite qu’il y a beaucoup moins cher pour le même service.

Die Bungalow befinden sich in einer gepflegten Gartenanlage unweit von einer belebten Strasse. Trotzdem ist es absolut ruhig und abgeschirmt. Der Gastgeber war sehr hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Ihm war wichtig, dass wir uns wohlfühlen. Er hat sowohl Transport und Safari für uns zu einem vernünftigen Preis organisiert. Wir würden diese Unterkunft sofort wieder buchen.

Nice cottage house on a quiet street. The host was very nice, we bought a safari tour through him and a taxi to our next location. Also, we ate at his restaurant and it was good authentic food. Our room had AC and bathtub + outdoor shower.

Lovely and comfortable bungalows with a very original bathroom. Host organise also safari tours (I was on the 1/2 day tour and it was great) and a very delicious dinner cooked by his mother.

A very pleasant place. The owner's mother is a great cook. A nice atmosphere of the place - houses with open bathrooms. Staff very helpful. Good substantial breakfast.

The original safari prices proposed were higher than what I knew about. The laundry I gave came back to me wet. Of course, this can happen, but it is probably better to warn the client than to assure him that it will be different.

The decor at this place was just on point, the bathroom outside, the lights in the room.. just really good. Dasun is super helpful, arranges safari, food, transportation, whatever you need! I already wish I could go back.

Tolle moderne Unterkunft mit der schönsten Dusche und Liebe zum Detail gestaltet😍 Bett war sehr komfortabel und riesig (auch für Personen über 1,90m geeignet). Schöner gepflegter Garten und gemütliche Terrasse. Das Frühstück und Abendessen war sehr sehr gut und ausreichend. Der Gastgeber war super lieb und in allem sehr bemüht uns einen unvergesslichen Aufenthalt zu ermöglichen. Spontan hat er uns eine sehr schöne Safari organisiert (mit toller Verpflegung) und war sonst auch stets für alle Fragen offen. Wifi stabil… Wäscheservice möglich und schnell fertig. Wären gerne noch länger geblieben :(

El alojamiento cuenta con 3 bonitas cabañas, una sencilla pero bonita estancia para comer y un precioso jardín muy cuidado. Está situado en el centro de Udalawawe pero nada más entrar te sientes en un oasis de paz. Las cabañas son muy cómodas y limpias, el baño con ducha exterior es fantástico. La comida es deliciosa, se nota que se hace todo con mucho mimo. Cocina la madre de Dasun y la cena y el desayuno estaban buenísimos. Dasun es un anfitrión inmejorable, nos ayudó con todas nuestras necesidades y estuvo pendiente de que estuviéramos cómodos y bien atendidos. Además fue muy atento y cariñoso con los niños y se esforzó en conseguirnos un safari y el trayecto a nuestro próximo destino. Nos encantaría volver!!

Nos gustó todo. Si tengo alguna recomendación para los viajeros es que paguen en la moneda local, porque nosotros pagamos en dólares y no nos salió muy bien el cambio, aunque esto es ajeno al alojamiento y a la hospitalidad de Dasun.

El alojamiento son 3 preciosas cabañas con un jardín muy cuidado, a pesar de estar en el centro del pueblo, nada más entrar te da la sensación de estar en un oasis de paz. Las cabañas son cómodas y el baño con ducha al aire libre es fantástico. La comida la cocina la mamá de Dasun y es buenísima, viajamos con 3 niños y pedimos que no fuera picante, estaba todo delicioso. Dasun es un anfitrión fantástico, nos ayudó en todo lo que necesitamos, se aseguró de que estuviéramos cómodos y muy a gusto y nos encantó conversar con él y fue muy atento y cariñoso con los niños. Además se tomó la molestia de encontrarnos un transporte para nuestro siguiente destino. Nos hubiera gustado estar más días

La verdad que nos gustó todo. Lo único que aconsejaría a los viajeros es que paguen en la moneda local porque a nosotros el pagar en dólares no nos salió muy bien, pero eso es ajeno al alojamiento.

Hasthi Safari Cottage is run by Dasun and his family. The place is beautiful and well maintained. The beds are comfortable, and the shower gives you a jungle vibe:) We had dinner and lunch at the place, both cooked by Dasun’s Mom, not only it was delicious, but also beautifully served! He went above and beyond to make our stay special. We had interesting conversations and he was always happy to answer our questions. We booked private safari with Dasun, and we didn’t regret that! It was an amazing experience, very well organized, our driver/guide was very knowledgeable and experienced! Dasun is a great host, who genuinely wants to help you have the best time possible. I very much liked that he was interested in our opinion about the place, what to improve to make it better etc.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr zentral, aber im Grünen. Die ganzen Familie ist sehr liebenswürdig und außerordentlich hilfsbereit. Das Abendessen war super. Duhan hat uns spontan die Transfers von Mirissa und nach Ella und die Safari mit einem sehr angenehmen Guide organisiert 👍.

Die Dusche ist kalt.

Empfehlenswert! sehr netter Gastgeber stand uns für alle Fragen zur Verfügung. Eine Safari wurde für uns auch organisiert. Auf Nachfrage wurde uns ein sehr leckeres Abendessen serviert, können wir nur empfehlen.

Klimaanlage war zwar vorhanden hat aber etwas länger gedauert um zu kühlen.

The host was super helpful and went out of their way to look after us. The dinner cooked by the host's mum was exceptional, as was the breakfast. The safari tour organised by the host was an unforgettable experience. The outside shower was also lovely touch.

Dasun, his family and friends are really nice people. They helped us to organise tha safari, the driver was also absolutely nice with us, we had a great trip. Dasun's mom made us always a huge and extremely good meal. The cottage was also really nice and comfortable. We absolutely recommend the place!:)

Amazing food and a really nice host, great location and value for money is incredible. Very happy we came here! Very clean and internet is good when in the restaurant area, and outside.

Nothing, really, our room didn’t have AC and instead had 2 fans which wasn’t an issue.

Place, style of the caban very nice but...

Enormous scandal and rip of: price paid for the rental 22usd with was a very good price... But too good; dinner without meat or fish was 28 USD for 4 people , more than the room! And the price of a jeep to go to a Safari was finally at 48 000 roupies including the entrance of 36 000 roupies in consequence 12 000 roupies instead of 8 000 Wich is a regular price. For this last part is was known and we agreed but the dinner is just a scandal and it s not finished ; card was not functioning, obliged to go to an ATM instead of public bank that there was not and another rip of 40 USD of fees taxes . In conclusion instead of a good deal we have the worst deal ever the non competence or the fraud/rip of these guys as to be know

Dasun was great at communicating with us even in the lead up to our stay. He went above and beyond, organising transport from ella to udawalawe and to tangalle the next day. We were given tea on arrival, he filled up our pool, offered us dinner and organised our safari. The safari guide was also 10/10 - extremely knowledgable, friendly and a great eye for spotting even the smallest of animals, and a lovely breakfast provided. Overall would definitely recommend.

Only thing of note was no mosquito nets in the room, and small gaps in windows/doors where they could get in, so just had to be extra vigilant with bug spray - not a huge issue but worth noting.

The host was very friendly and helpful. He had make us very comfortable. I would highly suggest this place to stay! Best establishment and best host ever!

The furniture and design of the entire place is spectacular, I have never been to a place that has such intricate details in everything. Food was fantastic too, best meal we had in Sri Lanka. Dasun, the owner, was kind and welcoming, we felt really at home.

Dasun and his team are very welcoming. We arrived and he made everything possible. He filled our pool to let us cool down, served tasty juices and made a nice dinner for us both. He also gave us bikes to visit the elephant transit home and organised a private safari tour for us with breakfast inside the park! Helped us to find the best way (bus) to arugam bay.

Amazing place! We really enjoyed our stay in Hasthi Safari Cottage which has great vibe, stylish rooms and especially the owner is brilliant :) Dasun is very friendly and helpful. He cooked home-made dinners (including typical dessert :) and breakfasts for us, everything was so tasty :) He was very caring and cooked also non spicy food for our little girls. He also arranged a safari tour for us, drove us to the river to have a swim and even took us to Ella where we were heading from Udawalawe. It was a real pleasure to meet you, Dasun, and we hope to see you again in future :)
