Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful home. The views were absolutely incredible. The property was warm and cozy upon arrival. I appreciated the courtesy bar of soap, pantry with extra snacks and the refrigerator had extra condiments like butter and chocolate syrup (because you have to have hot chocolate on the balcony). Although this trip was with friends i told my wife about how awesome the experience was and she wants to plan a trip to come back with our lids (ages 11 and 9). If i could give this experience 10 stars i would.

This was absolutely the best! The host was so very accommodating, very responsive and stayed in contact with us, wasvery informative about the property/weather/local hikes etc. The property itself was so comfortable and extremely relaxing. I didnt want to leave! In fact, I am contemplating on when I can return! It was one of the best vacations I've ever experienced..

Everything at this property was great, especially the location. We saw two bull moose and three cows just down the road. The host was very accommodating.

What a great find! This rental feels like home. It’s comfortable and well equipped. The communication with the owner was easy and questions were answered promptly. I really feel like the listing doesn’t do this home justice; we would definitely stay here again!

The house was beautiful! It had all the necessary ammenities and then some! The view of the mountains from the deck was breath taking. You could also hear the sound of the rushing water from the river in the valley.
I also liked the fact that the house was in a very quiet, less travelled area and still only about a 15 minute drive from town.
The hosts were awesome and very hospitable!!! We definitely would return!!!!

This is our second time booking this fabulous cabin. Everything you may need is made available. Extremely comfortable and I cant say enough about the views! We will be back for a third! The owners are terrific!

Family had a great time. Mountain views were amazing. Saw a moose mom and her calf grazing less tha 20 feet away in the back yard of the property for about a half hour. John is a great host with a amazing property. Would recommend to anyone.

This property is top-notch and a great value. Mountain scenery from every window, one large and one small deck, beautiful layout, all kinds of extras ( games, food, hiking equipment, and on and on). A romantic loft bedroom and two more bedrooms to boot. Plenty of towels. A beautiful place very well thought out and one of the best VRBOs we have ever stayed in. 10 stars if possible.

I wanted to surprise my good friend with a birthday trip and booked in Eagle River. This location is absolutely amazing—even better than the pictures! So many thoughtful touches and super clean. We saw a moose on our first day and plenty of tracks on other days. My communication with John was seamless and prompt. I highly recommend this spot. Great location and exceptional hosts!

I have looked for weeks for a place for our family to stay in for a week in Alaska. Nothing seemed right until I came across this one. As soon as I saw the pictures, I knew. It felt perfect. And indeed, it was perfect. The house is such a beautiful, pleasant, charming, comfortable, and warm house. My husband and kids loved it. We loved that it's on a mountain and we loved the scenery as we drove up & down. It seemed everyday we would drive past a moose! And how fitting it was to see an actual bald eagle in the wild, in a town named Eagle River. There was so much snow! The kids loved playing in it. The balcony was just perfect to appreciate all of the views. The bed was comfortable. The house was always warm when going inside. It was a great location too as we've traveled and did some sightseeing. You will not regret staying in this dream vacation home.
Oh, and I loved the sweet birthday balloon surprise! Thank you!

This Eagle River, AK, cabin was perfect for our family. Just far enough out of Anchorage to feel out in the Alaska wild. The home had all the amenities you would imagine plus more. We were able to see an awesome display of the Northern Lights. Watch for the moose on the road to the cabin!

Everything was absolutely perfect. The home was just wonderful and the owners so easy to contact prior to our trip. I was trying to figure out a way to never leave. You will not be sorry if you choose John and Ellen’s home. Everything couldn’t have been better and I already can’t wait to go back!

My family loved staying at this cabin on a mountain on the edge of Eagle River. There was plenty of room and the cabin was well stocked. The landscaping is beautiful, the location easy to find and we appreciated the flexible check in/check out. Would recommend to anyone needing a nice place to stay in Eagle River.

Beautiful Cabin
We loved our stay at The Mountain House. John was an excellent host and accommodated us early due to an issue with another home we had rented. The cabin was spotless and well stocked with spices and condiments-even coffee! Thank you for sharing your cabin with us! We would love to visit again!

A Dream Cabin
John was a amazing host. Great communication and super accommodating. Location and cabin are a absolute dream. We couldn't have asked for more. Fully stocked and furnished with everything you will need and want. Rustic and beautiful. Sit with the screen door open and listen to Eagle river below. Hear birds and nature and little else. Just what we needed.

The views off the front deck are outstanding, the area is quiet and yet your only 25 minutes to Anchorage. There are several short hikes just a short drive from the cabin and don’t be surprised to see bear or moose nearby.
The cabin is well stocked, the pantry has all those little things you forget and the towels were soft and full.

The views from the porch are breathtaking. And the cabin had everything we could need, and then some. I did pick up some pencils and a sketch pad though, as the view out every window is inspirational.
We really appreciated the space, and were very comfortable there.

We returned to Alaska for a visit after moving away a few years ago. The cabin was a wonderful place to use as a home base during our stay. We ventured into Anchorage and south to the far end of Turnagain Arm.

Awesome stay. Would totally come back
Staying in this cabin was one of the best experiences I have had anywhere. This place is very clean, neatly organized and well equipped with everything we needed to cook in. Even the fridge was stocked with stuff to prepare meals right on. Communication with John was exceptional, and his valuable tips about the area were very helpful to make our stay perfect. The cabin is in an uphill area that could be a bit scary to access during the winter, but we (a bunch of Floridians with 0 experience driving in snow) became very comfortable getting in and out by the second time we went up and down the hill. All in all, I totally recommend this place and the hosts, and would use it again if we ever return to this area.

My wife and I really enjoyed our time in Eagle River. The house was accurately described, warm, and comfortable. Communication with the owners was excellent. And the setting was beautiful. Very happy we chose this rental.
