We had a lovely time at Big Porch Cottage. The setting was just far enough outside the city to feel like a retreat, but close enough that driving over for a day’s adventure was easy and convenient. The hosts were so gracious, and we loved getting to feed the cows with them. The kids were thrilled with the Christmas decorations and had a great time playing cornhole.
The house was warm and welcoming, with everything we needed right at hand. We’d love to come back someday!

The stay was lovely. This is a perfect cottage for families. There was a pack n play as well as a high chair and toys galore! We will be coming back here on any trip to the area!

We booked Big Porch for 2 nights, as we brought our oldest son and his family for Christmas. I'm a sucker for rocking chairs and porches, and this did not disappoint!! The cottage and grounds are well kept. The host family has the cottage fully stocked along with items we didn't think we needed; the Christmas tree and decorations were an added bonus!! The puzzles were fantastic!! What a way to get away from the phones. We were able to decompress in the pavilion from our drive but did not have time to feed the chickens and cows, which upset our 9-year-old granddaughter. We introduced the grands to the Chattanooga area. Plenty of memories were made on this trip!! I highly recommend you consider Big Porch. Tammy and Steve put a lot of hard work into making it your home away from home!!

What can we say that hasnt already been said? The location is amazing and Tammy was a great host. She offered to let us come feed the chickens, which our 5 year old loved so much. Tammy had great recommendations for local things to do the day it rained.
Very little light pollution and on a clear night we sat out under the milky way and were able to see so many stars. Simply amazing while being in nature and so close to chattanooga.

The big porch cottage was an excellent place to stay out in the country fro some peace and quiet. Mrs Tammy and Stee are excellent hosts.

Mrs. Tammy and Mr. Steve are a very nice couple. Their place is quiet with a beautiful country view. It's only a short drive to Chattanooga and the drive there is so pretty with the Fall colors. We were there over Halloween and Mrs. Tammy contacted me to invite our kiddos down to their place for Trick or Treating too. Their place is extremely clean and well supplied in kitchen/bathroom areas. We didn't have any babies or toddlers but she has all the gear, so worries about carting yours along. The farm animals were super cool and our kiddos also petted the cows. The house is back from the main road so the kids loved running around outside. Our daughters and son enjoyed the toys provided and corn hole game outside.

The home was well stocked with everything we needed and very clean. Mrs. Tammy came out to meet us the second day and she’s so kind. We loved being able to have a nice space outside for the kids to play and watch the cows and chickens! Would def stay again!

We loved staying at this cabin! We had a family wedding up the road and this location was perfect. We went into downtown chatt one day and it was an easy 20 minutes drive. We had 5 young children in our group and this cabin was amazing! Toys, board games, child/baby equipment, puzzles, high chair, bed rail, pack n play, plus all the open spaces for running around and looking at cows.. amazing place to stay with children!
Tammy and Steve were great hosts. Very helpful and quick to communicate.
We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend!

We were looking for a place to get away to rest and relax. This place was just right. The house met all our needs. We were comfy and cozy. Outside, we enjoyed the porch, yard, barn and fire pit. It was close enough to Chattanooga but far enough away to enjoy the quiet of the farm. Tammy was a wonderful hostess. Thank you so much!

This place is amazing! It felt just like home. The location is peaceful and quiet and the house is so CLEAN! I loved how everything was provided - linens, towels, even soap and paper products in the kitchen and bathrooms. My kids loved all the toys and the microwave popcorn :) the owners were very kind and helpful. We will definitely come back here if we are ever in Chattanooga again!

The house and grounds were spotless, the host famlly super gracious and accommodating, and the peaceful seclusion was just what we needed. The Big Porch Cottage does indeed have a big porch with rocking chairs that invite total relaxation. Hixson and other Chattanooga 'burbs are 15-20 minutes away for those who need a trip to the city. Our youngest, age 6, loved feeding the calf and chickens but I think she loved the Pavillion most of all because she could ride her scooter and just run around. She and her older cousin played outside till nearly 11 one night--when was the last time kids played outside, much less outside after dark? There are also board games which replaced screen time for our family. The porch would be an excellent place for a group of painters to find inspiration for their art or writing or just meditating. I'd love to stay here again some day, just me, my easel, canvases and paints! :) The host family works incredibly hard to make this the most inviting home away from home. And being on a small mountain means it's cooler than the city, a big plus in warm weather. I could literally write a book about the joy of staying here. Thank you, Tammy and Steve!

The “Big Porch” cabin was perfect for our 2 night stay in Tennessee. Way more room than my Dad and I needed, but I am so glad we chose to stay here. Clean space, comfy beds, it just felt like home. Thank you Tammy!! We will definitely return.

We had an absolutely wonderful week at Big Porch Cottage. The cottage was very clean and had everything we could possibly need for a comfortable stay. Our kids loved having separate rooms. The toys were a big hit with our youngest two kids. I especially loved the large porch and swing. It is a beautiful property. We weren't at the cottage for long periods other than to bathe and sleep but we absolutely had no complaints. The last night we were there was probably the longest we spent at the cottage itself. Our kids had the best time chasing and catching lightning bugs. I haven't seen so many since I was a child. There aren't as many around where we live as there used to be. So it was awesome watching our kids getting so excited about them just like we used to. While we never really got a chance to meet the owners (our days were completely packed with activities), they were super responsive and very friendly. We could not have asked for better owners to book our stay with. If anyone is on the fence about renting this cottage, just do it. You won't be disappointed.

We loved our stay in the Big Porch Cottage! Everything was tidy when we arrived and Tammy (the host) was easy to communicate with and left thoughtful touches to make our stay extra pleasant. We could tell that she put a lot of thought into make groups with children comfortable (there were toys, games, and side walk chalk) and we had a wonderful time.

My family had a great time at the cottage! It was great for a quick trip and not to far from downtown Chattanooga. Would definitely recommend for families with small kids.

Our family loved staying here. It’s close enough to Chattanooga to enjoy the city, but a little ways out so you can feel like you’re getting away. My kids, 5 & 7, had a lot of fun running around in the grassy yard and looking at the cows. I loved the wrap around porch with the rocking chairs & swing. We ate our dinners in the covered outdoor space; the lighting was great! It was a truly peaceful experience for us, which we were in need of. I could say a whole lot more positive things about staying here. Tammy and Steve are so sweet and truly make you feel at home. We will be coming back here again for sure.

We were meeting family from Alabama and needed a spacious spot to stay that was halfway for each of us. Big Porch Cottage was perfect! The house was spacious and clean. Our kids loved the toys and room to run around. The pavilion was adorable and we enjoyed playing corn hole and sitting by the fire pit. Tammy responded quickly to any questions and left very helpful info regarding being on the line for the time zone! This was the perfect spot for our family to visit and relax!

Lovely and roomy home for our family’s spring break getaway. The property is extremely peaceful with abundant wildlife. Our youngest was thrilled with the collection of movies, books, toys, and activities. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we could need to cook our meals. Tammy and Steve, the owners, couldn’t have been more welcoming and we enjoyed learning more about the area from them. Kids loved the outdoor barn and the proximity of the cows to the rental. Overall lovely time, very peaceful getaway within a short driving distance to activities, stores, and Chattanooga.

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Big Porch Cottage. Tammy and Steve were so kind and helpful. Tammy took time out of her day to allow our family to explore the property and meet the animals. Our girls loved feeding the cows, meeting Jesse the sheep dog, sitting on a tractor and just exploring. The cottage was clean and provided the perfect amount of space for our large family.
We would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a place outside of Chattanooga.

Tammy is the best host ever! The property was immaculate, she checked on us via text to make sure we didn’t need anything, and she let the kids feed the cows! It was nice to experience casual country living in addition to all the fun things to do in Chattanooga. I highly recommend it!

Tammy’s cottage was the perfect location to meet with my family for Christmas. We meet every other year at a cabin In Tennessee and this was by far our favorite! The beds were so cozy, the cottage was clean, and it was stocked with everything we needed. Tammy was incredibly gracious to let us have a flexible check in and check out time because of the bitter cold and snow. We can’t wait to return!

The inside of the house was clean, spacious, and provided everything we needed for our stay. The outside was just as perfect. Secluded property with a ton of outdoor space where we could hang out and play outdoor games or relax by the fire. The covered pavilion was an added bonus. At night we turned on the hanging lights and could play corn hole. Also the porch wraps around the house and has a swing and plenty of rocking chairs to sit back and relax on. The location of the property was also perfect. All of the attractions were about 25 minutes away. (Tennessee Aquarium, Ruby Falls, Rock City, Hiking Trails) Your host Tammy, is also helpful & kind. She met up with us to allow us to feed the cows and meet Luke the farm dog. Our family had a memorable time.

Our family really enjoyed our stay. We loved the big porch and the land. The pavilion is really nice too. The home has a lot of games and I really appreciated that there were extras in the pantry like coffee filters, spices, and cooking spray.
My kids liked the dogs that came to visit us on the porch. The owners are very accommodating and communicative.
We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back sometime.

This was a great setting to get away with our your family! We had small kids, and there was so much space for them to run and play outside. The cows were also a hit! The Cottage itself was clean and very kid/toddler friendly. Tammy was also very easy to contact and a great hostess!

My family loved staying in the Big Cottage after a day in Chattanooga. It was nice not to be in the hustle and bustle of the city and instead to be surrounded by the woods and nature in the farm setting!

The cottage was just as promised. Very accommodating and even had toys for my grandchild to play with, which was a plus!! The pavilion was an awesome place to relax and enjoy some outdoor activities and watching the cows graze. The rocking chairs and porch swing was a great place for morning coffee. Tammy texted the day we got there and made sure everything was okay and if we needed anything. She is so sweet. We definitely enjoyed our weekend getaway. Will be booking here again in the future.
