The owners were very nice and the rental had everything we needed.

Welcomed by Lisa and her two furry friendly boys at arrival. She was readily available next door for questions and just to chat. The home is perfect for family gathering with three generous bedrooms, comfortable beds, several portable beds, fantastic dining room with seating for 8, screened in back porch, and fully stocked kitchen, plates, table settings. Lots of nooks for quiet conversation or large group gathering around the hearth. The yard is shaded by tall oak and beech trees, and despite a 95 degree heatwave during our stay, it was pleasant inside and out. Great a/c. So enjoyed our stay that we’ll be back everytime we come to town!

The house is wonderful and very roomy to fit your family with plenty of space. The guys enjoyed playing on pool table while us ladies sat on the back porch. The property sits back off the road and is very quiet. Thank you so much Lisa and Fred

The setting is perfect. We loved being up on the mountain and were able to see the “Christmas Star”. The history of the home is very inspiring. One daughter and her family stayed at the state park and another daughter was visiting her friend who works on a thermal propulsion liquids team, so we really enjoyed the mementos. Having such a spacious yet cozy place to gather was the perfect place for us to all get together. From age 2 to 70, everyone had a blast!

Our family rented the this house for the weekend while visiting friends and family in the Huntsville area. The house is in a great location, just down the street from the state park. There is plenty of seating and dishes to take care of a large group. The back porch is also accommodating to a gathering, or just a cozy place to enjoy a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. The house is well kept and the owners were very friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed a full month at this location. We were in a slight bind till our home became available so we needed a place to stay. What a wonderful piece of luck to have met these wonderful people and stay in this awesome home. The home was clean, the landlord responsive, and the location beautiful. All amenities (W/D, dishwasher, fiber wireless internet) were present and working. Any time we had questions or needed something, the landlords were immediately responsive. We would definitely recommend anyone to vacation in this home.

It was a true pleasure staying at the Monte Sano Bungalow! LOCATION - The top of Monte Sano is an amazing community, about a mile from the beautiful Monte Sano State Park and several awesome hiking trails. It's a great location for those who want to be near town (about a 8-10 minute drive) but still get some seclusion and open space. COMMUNICATION - The owners live nearby and were a real joy: great communication, super friendly, and, knowing that we were traveling with our son, they even gave us some great recommendations on fun things to do with kids. OUTSIDE - The house sits back from the road on a beautiful lot with plenty of trees to provide shade on those hot Alabama days. There's also a very large back porch that's big enough to host 6-8 for an outdoor dinner. Or, it's a great place to sit and watch the fireflies over a drink in the evening (what we spent most of our night doing). There's both a huge backyard and a large front yard, both of which were big enough to play catch in the afternoons. INSIDE - This is where the house really shined. It's like a living history museum of Huntsville's rocket program history. It was absolutely dripping with character, which was probably the highlight of our stay. Though we were just a family of three, the layout could easily have accommodated a large group without anyone feeling crowded. The property comes with all of the basics one would expect from a vacation rental, including some nice extras like a full laundry room. Also, it may seem like a small thing, but having good, reliable internet was a plus, and something we're found lacking in a few recent rentals. The one potential downside for some that I would note is that this is not one of those properties that's been highly staged and, in essence, made into a large hotel room. This is a house that feels very loved and lived in, full of a family's character, decor, and personality. You feel like you're staying at a good friend's house. For us, that was a plus. My only other critique is that the cleaning crew could have done a better job. Not a huge deal to me, but if that's a major concern for you, worth noting. Overall, this was a terrific stay, one of the ones that can absolutely make a good trip great. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Our daughter was having her wedding reception at Burritt and we live out of state. We came a week before the wedding and stayed at the Monte Sano Bungalow. Lisa was wonderful, greeting us and making sure we had everything we needed. She lives next door, which is really nice. We had friends and family coming into town at different times, so it was great to have a place where everyone could gather and share meals together. It was also convenient to be so close to Burritt on the day of the wedding. We were able to make several trips with our vehicle loaded both before the reception and afterwards. The history in this house is amazing! We wish we could have had more time to read some of the books that were at the house. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the photos and paintings on the wall. It was a very relaxing place to be during a relatively hectic time.

The Monte Sano Bunglaow is everything advertised and more. The hosts are great people who accommodated every need and the property was clean, spacious, comfortable and well appointed.. We could feel the love of the place when we walked in. Dog friendly too!

Lisa and her husband were great to work with. The house and most importantly the beds were great. We had a great time and the house helped that to happen. We were there for my sons bachelor party. We had 9 men. So when I say comfortable for 9 men that says a lot.

Owner very pleasant and easy to work with. Lives close by. Accommodated the groomsmen in our daughter's wedding for the weekend. Would definitely recommend!

We enjoyed our stay in this quiet, comfortable home, rich with Rocket City history. The hostess/owner, Lisa, was very welcoming and helpful. We sat around the open fire at night, cooked outside twice and had s'mores for dessert. We enjoyed the nearby Monte Sano State Park and the Wernher von Braun Observatory. It is a quick drive from downtown Huntsville and the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. If you want a mountain view while enjoying the sights in Huntsville, stay here! Don't forget to do a driving tour of the Old Town Historic District. Wonderful old homes there!

This beautiful home and property exceeded our expectations. We had the opportunity to enjoy an extended weekend with our daughter and her family in a setting that was truly ideal. Ms. Ordway is a wonderful hostess and very gracious. We hope to return in the near future.

My daughter and her family evacuated Florida for a long weekend due to Hurricane Irma and were welcomed by Lisa and her family into a beautiful well kept home. There were beautiful trails to hike nearby as well. What a great experience!

My family of ten wanted to spend the weekend together. The bungalow was the perfect place to do that. The mountainous setting was relaxing and the house was cozy, yet spacious enough for all of us. The furnishings and supplies were perfect. We prepared meals there and enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck. Lisa was a joy to work with and made sure we had anything we needed. I can't wait to go back.

When we arrived and walked through this well-loved house we immediately felt at home. We thought it was even better than its photos. It is so beautifully decorated and even after a week we don't think we saw every painting or picture on the walls. We felt like the owners were sharing a piece of history. We were there for a family reunion at Monte Sano State Park and this was perfect to stay right next to it. Some of our closest relatives stopped in occasionally throughout the seven days we stayed, and each one loved taking a tour through this unique house. There was plenty of space for the cars. I think at one time we had seven cars parked there. This place reminded us of old times when we stayed at our grandparent's historic home at the foot of the mountain where there were lots of little places to gather for conversation. We couldn't have done that if we had stayed in hotel rooms. The home is well-kept, clean, and had everything we needed including the linens and cookware. Our Dad is getting up there in years and walks with a cane but little things helped him get around like railings and one of the bathrooms was handicap equipped. The owner's two dogs adopted us and loved playing with the kids that came. Lisa was so nice we could have talked to her all day about the house but she gave us lots of space for family time. I know we paid to stay there but thank you so much for opening your home for people to enjoy.
