great unit. as advertised. a little dated but has everything you need for a nice stay. Incredible view.

It's like going to grandma's cabin, with all that goes with it – a homey feel, wicker furniture, and tons of 80's style mirrors. There are also odds and ends that could use updating, including some outlets that don't work. Not to mention the dog hair. The place is generally tidy (although there was a pile of dog food in the upstairs closet when we arrived), and if you have a pet you probably won't notice the smell and coating of dog hair. For us who don't, it wasn't ideal. Also the blinds only sort of block the light, so you're up at sunrise and your kids won't sleep before sunset. You may want to bring a sleeping mask.
Despite that, being twenty yards from the ocean, and the stunning view makes you forget all about it. There is tons of wildlife in the ocean and along the beach, the pool is awesome, and the kids had fun on the tennis court. It was a wonderful stay and we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful property. Perfect location, on the water, stunning sunrises and sunsets, away from the crowds, but close enough to attractions for all. Highly recommend a leisurely stroll through Chemainus to view the murals.
Scott and Patricia were great hosts. From the time I made the reservation they were quick and responsive to any concern. We had a minor issue with the wifi TV setup, and Scott had Shaw contact us quickly to resolve the issue.
We recommend this property as a true gem.

Best location at the resort with a large sunny oceanfront deck. The unit is a bit outdated and needing some updates especially the kitchen and bathrooms, but totally liveable and clean. Hoping to book again next year!

My family and I have stayed at Inn of the Sea for a week in the summer for few years now, each year bringing a bunch of friends out, so we we’ve experienced a number of units and property managers. In summary: this unit could be easily be one of the best units on the property, but communication with Scott the property manager was tricky at times.
First: the unit. Located at the south end of the top floor of the ocean-side building, the views are unparalleled. It is also one of the more centrally located units so you’re never far from the pool, dock, tennis court, or other units. If you’re lucky the Wi-Fi will reach the pool, which is great because cell service at the property is spotty. Many of the units at Inn of the Sea are somewhat dated, and this one in no exception. While it comes with everything you need, there are no bells and whistles that many other units include. With this unit, what you see in the listing is what you get.
Next: check-in and communication with the host (Scott). I am a short term rental host (on another platform) so my critique comes from experience. My main issue is that we arrived at the property with out the check-in info and with no way of accessing the unit. No check-in info had been uploaded to VRBO. Scott hadn’t responded to my VRBO messages requesting the info and I had nothing in my email inbox. After calling him upon arrival, Scott said that he had emailed me the check-in info 2 months previous and that I should check my spam folder. Well, as most do, my spam folder auto-deletes messages after 30 days. I told him that I didn’t have the info, so he gave me the door access code over the phone and we were able to access the unit. Scott never ended up resending me the info, though. We made due because some site info was written down inside the unit and we were already familiar with the property as a whole, but some important details were missing (such as the Wi-Fi password). Luckily, some friends rented this unit last year and were able to share the password with us. I heard from Scott again immediately after our stay to tell us that the cleaners were unhappy to find that we had used the spare set of bed sheets. We were there for 10 days during a heat wave, and there was no indication that the spare sheets were not to be used. Maybe he mentioned it in the email that I never saw, but I couldn’t tell you.
Overall: 5-stars for location, 3.5 stars for check-in and communication.

Great property
This is a great property, beautiful view, lots of great amenities including pool, tennis court and dock. The place could use a little updating, but the view and location of the unit makes up for it.

Great location!
The view is everything! The beds were surprisingly comfortable - normally my back aches after a couple nights away from home. The old school “AC” fan was a nice touch on the hot days (keep it full of water). We’d definitely stay here again!

Accommodations are aging but it’s easy to overlook with the priceless view. The pool and the rest of the property amenities kept us entertained.

Awesome property
We absolutely loved our 6-month stay here. Scott was so responsive and professional, going to great lengths to get our cable package upgraded so we could get all of the sports channels to serve our passion.
The view is absolutely spectacular and the apartment is well appointed. We enjoyed our experience so much that we have booked it again for this fall.

The most impressive aspect of this unit in a multi-condo property is its exceptional and unobstructed view over the water! The interior and equipment could benefit from some renovation. Be aware that the location is quite isolated, so bring your groceries with you since the closest large grocery store are about 20 minutes away. Overall, we had a very nice stay at that property!

Where to begin. Greeted at the entrance to the condo with extensive spider webs. (Inside condo). Worn and beat up is how this place looks. Broken deck chairs, broken baseboards, broken leg on kitchen chair and the place desperately needs a coat of paint. The tiny dishwasher not only doesn’t clean dishes - it is literally falling apart. Wheel missing, rubber lining falling off and most of the cutlery spots are broken beyond being useable. The kitchen overall is not clean. “Clean”dishes and glasses that were in the pantry still had food residue on them. We had to hand wash almost everything before we could even use it. And there is a layer of dust on most things that aren’t in the high traffic areas. For a family of four booking for a week - we ended up with only 3 of us being able to come - You are given 6 rolls of toilet paper, one paper towel, 2 kitchen garbage bags and seven dishwasher tabs. (We went out and bought our own). This was confirmed as intentional by the cleaning lady when she came by to pick up the one thing that worked well in the place. My wife and daughter joked about how the only nice thing in the place is a hair dryer. Actually turned out the last renter had left it behind so maid came to pick it up. A mixed blessing in one of the kids not being able to come on the trip was finding out the pull out couch is also broken. The solution provided is an an air mattress. Seriously! This detail was also told to us by the cleaning lady. I can’t imagine a teenager sleeping on an air mattress for a week - especially at at the price we paid. The deck was disgusting. It was covered in something that made your feet stick to it and appeared to have never been washed - ever. Multiple plug ins throughout unit don’t work. Screen doors are ripped/broken. The cleaning fee isn’t used for cleaning and I would guess not a dime has been spent on maintenance in this condo in years. I could go on and on about how disappointed we were with the condo. The view was beautiful and the pool/beach etc was fantastic - no question - but you can do way better for the amount of money. I’ve stayed in many VRBO properties and this was sadly the bottom of the list.

Amazing views and greater memories.
We had an amazing stay, the property had the most amazing views. It was more spacious than imagined and had everything we needed. I loved the retro Florida flair it had. Yes, a few things could be updated, but I actually thought it gave our stay more character and made it me more memorable. We can’t wait to come back.

Perfect get away
The condo is in a great location, near the pool and close to the water. We enjoyed the swimming pool and our time exploring the beach. The condo very clean and comfortable.

Gorgeous view, but condo needs work.
The view and the location are absolutely beautiful. The grounds are well kept and the hot tub was greatly appreciated in the coolish winter months.
The condo however, needs attention. The dish washer doesn’t clean the dishes. The furniture is old. There are many repairs that need doing and the condo is in serious need of a paint job.
Despite this, we enjoyed our three month stay.

Incredible views
Lovely stay - enjoyed the views from the balcony very much. Owner was very helpful when we had minor difficulty accessing the property at first (error on our end!). We did find the bed in the upstairs room a little soft, but otherwise had an excellent stay.

Beautiful condo and location
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property and hopefully will be able to return next year. The condo met all of our needs and the location and grounds were beautiful. The caretaker, Sandy did a wonderful job of keeping the pool and grounds beautiful.

Ocean front Property. Great family spot
We enjoyed our stay at the “Inn of the Sea”.
Relaxing atmosphere. The condo unit had plenty of space for 2 Adults and 2 Teenagers with terrific views of the ocean all day long. We viewed all sorts of wildlife right from the patio, Eagles and Seals being the highlight.
The unit was clean and had everything we needed.
The pool was perfect, the 1-hour booking policy made it safe and it felt like a private pool when we used it.
Great tours out of ladysmith and Cowichan Bay.
We really enjoyed our visit to Vancouver Island

Wow! Absolutely loved our stay here at the Inn of the sea. The community was super friendly and all of our neighbors were really nice. The grounds were really well kept and we enjoyed using the BBQ right by the ocean. The pool and hottub were so relaxing. We appreciated having the booked times and limited number of people in the pool area due to Covid. The unit was really clean and had everything we needed.. even birthday candles for my birthday cake ❤️. Would absolutely recommend staying here, it's family friendly and just absolutely beautiful. We lucked out with gorgeous sunny weather!!! Thank you so much for being great Hosts :)

Phenomenal location!
This is a perfect relaxing get-away! We spent hours in the balcony staring at the water.
The beds were comfortable. Hint: if you need more than 2 double beds, bring an air mattress— the pull out sofa isn’t great — we had to bribe a teen to sleep on it.
The owners were awesome to deal with.

Beautiful location. Lots of great parks nearby. Bright and cheery condo.
Same as above. As you know the microwave wasn’t working and it was pretty dusty maybe because of Covid and not being rented recently.? Otherwise we enjoyed our time there and would definitely come and stay again.

Almost perfect!
The view was lovely, both from the deck and windows which were floor to ceiling. The only downside was we were unable to use the closet in 203 as the mirror bifold door was extremely hard to open and close. The vertical blinds in that room need repair also as they were difficult to open and close. Our grandchildren also found the pullout sofa bed uncomfortable, perhaps a foam topper would help? None of these things ruined our stay, it was comfortable, clean and very spacious! Did not disappoint!!! Thank you!

This condo is in a wonderful position for seeing the ocean and the waterfront. Inn of the Sea is an excellent location for a family vacation.

Yellowpoint
We spent another terrific month in Yellowpoint. The view from this property is terrific and the entire property is fantastic. We always bring some extra kitchen supplies since we like to cook and the bathrooms are a little outdated but the view more than makes up for it! We'll be back!

Wonderful escape, great views
We have spent numerous visits to the Inn of the Sea over many years and unit 302/202 is our favourite. The amazing views and comfortable amenities make leaving difficult.
There's lots of hiking, beach combing, art and wildlife viewing in the area. The condo and grounds are well kept. Can't wait to return to paradise!
