Great get away cabin..enjoyed exploring the area

We wanted four basic things: 1) be near hiking in Olympic National Park; 2) close to a beautiful place where we could swim; 3) have a charming place to stay with some privacy; and, 4) be able to cook a proper a meal. %-plus stars on these things!
We were minutes away from trails and serious hiking and we did magnificent hikes everyday; we were walking distance (4 minutes) to a great place to swim; an 8 minute drive to another lake, Lake Kokanee, where we found an isolated little spot in a cove. After one hike, less than 30 minutes away, we also swam and snorkeled in Lake Cushman near the Olympic NP Staircase entrance and it was magical.
That actually would have been enough for us.
But then the cabin was absolutely adorable and set in a large wooded lot with plenty of privacy. The property is in a community but nonetheless has privacy and cozy little nooks outside to sit around a table or fire pit (but no fires for now because it is too dry) in a woodsy setting.
Finally, the cabin was so well-equipped and stocked with all we needed, particularly for cooking. Good pots and knives and every appliance you might need. I loved there were both a Keurig and French press coffee makers.
And I must add, the host, Michelle, was so helpful, informative and gracious.

My sister and I chose this location which is beautiful and peaceful. With so much to do every day, the house was awesome to come home to.
We brought our dry goods and stopped in Haggens market for the rest. We made dinner, played cards, drank wine on the deck. One evening we grabbed a glass of wine and walked to the lake and sat on the edge of the pier and watched the sun go down.
The little town is quaint with an awesome oyster bar not too far from the house. We picked up some fresh halibut cheeks to cook at home. Yum!!!
We couldn’t figure out the new big tv and would suggest a page of directions would be helpful.
It was so nice to unplug for the five days we were there in a magical place.

The perfect hide away

We had a wonderful stay at Shady Maple Cottage! The owners were very responsive and detailed with instructions and we had no problems at all with communication. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable and we had plenty of space for my family of five to spread out. The cottage was easy to clean (just a lot of laundry!). The lake and hiking trails were all very close by, as were a grocery store, gas station, and restaurants. We would definitely recommend Shady Maple Cottage if you are looking for a convenient place to stay near the lake!

We had a wonderful stay at Shady Maple Cottage! The owners were very responsive and detailed with instructions and we had no problems at all with communication. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable and we had plenty of space for my family of five to spread out. The cottage was easy to clean (just a lot of laundry!). The lake and hiking trails were all very close by, as were a grocery store, gas station, and restaurants. We would definitely recommend Shady Maple Cottage if you are looking for a convenient place to stay near the lake!

I've never rebooked a place before but I definitely will here. Michelle was a great host and the cabin had many things that are easy to forget on a trip. Super homie and you can tell they love this cabin. Also the lake is an easy walk. It's the best.

I just loved the view of the bright green maple leafs surrounding the cabin and couldn’t get enough of it. We hiked Staircase not far from cabin and I highly suggest doing it. We had a few picnics on the road to Staircase , drove to Forks and hiked Hall of Mosses and Spruce tree trails , walked the beach at Hood Canal in Liliwaup, , drove to Port Angeles and hiked Hurricane Ridge, and still had plenty of down time at the cabin. The Shady Maple is a quiet, cozy place to unwind and relax and also a gateway to many adventures. We can’t wait to go back !

I'm not the biggest fan of self clean just because I'm a neat freak and know others can half slack clean. Just cleaned some things when we arrived. Owners were very upfront with expected cleaning protocol, so no surprises when arrived. Didn't take long to check off to do list. Seemed overall clean though even with self clean system. Not sure how often place gets a true cleaning. Everything needed provided and more. We had good wifi service in house. Lovely neighborhood. Good central location to make staircase, my Helen, downtown all reasonable drives. Pizza and ice cream place downtown are good, stay away from weird burger place.

Awesome place
My 25 year old son and I stayed there while hiking in Olympic National Park. Loved being by the HoodSport town. The location was great and so was the property.

Great hideaway
Really enjoyed our time at this sweet little cottage where they thought of everything! We spent a week relaxing and checking out the local parks - hiking, fishing and attempting swimming (it was a little too chilly). We had perfect weather and the cabin itself was a joy to come home to- perfectly sized for our family of four with a great kitchen and lots of little thoughtful touches! We absolutely recommend and hope to return!

Nice basecamp for Cushman area adventures
I would stay here again, and I think that is the highest compliment I can share. It is nice to not pay a cleaning fee, but you need to get right to cleaning the morning that you leave. Good location and everything was as described.

This cabin is situated in the trees but so close to Lake Cushman. Kitchen is well equipped and beds comfortable. Very easy to connect with Michelle. Cleaning the cabin ourselves before leaving was no problem. Perfectly peaceful getaway in February.
