We really enjoyed the house. It was perfect for our family. There were many things to do nearby. The fenced in side yard was perfect for our dogs, giving them a chance to run outside unleashed. Thank you for offering this house.

Love the house and location. I would give it a 5 all except for it needs a deep, deep cleaning. The downstairs has mold/mildew issues very strong smells making it not habitable to sleep. We did not use the two bedrooms downstairs and squeezed upstairs to sleep at night. Not the greatest communication with owner about this. The house is not inexpensive to rent and we needed the extra bedrooms and basically paid for a 3 bedroom.

LOCATION: Two blocks from the beach, walking distance to Avalon pier, a few restaurants near by mostly a short drive. Close to grocery stores and coffee shops. 5 minute drive to most any food type. CONSTRUCTION Currently on a brand new house directly behind it. BUGS Did see cockroaches on the front porch 2 of the 4 nights we were there nobody wanted to hang out on the deck with them. HOUSE: Kitchen is great, recently renovated needs a deep clean and a couple cabinet doors don't close right but nice. Blood under the glass in the fridge from previous renters. Leftover cigars in the dining area. Upstairs bedrooms are carpeted, the carpet is matted and should be replaced. Furniture in both bedrooms are broken. Comforters are in need of replacement some are stained and don't smell great. We didn't use any of them at all. Downstairs bedrooms didn't get used, a couple hours after being in the house none of my girls wouls stay in the basment. None of the adults wanted to stay down there either. We doubled up upstairs. Dozens of cracked and broken tiles with loose pieces Downstairs, I would suggest watching your step or wearing shoes at all times. BATHROOMS Upstairs bathroom in the living are recently renovated and looks great, tub vent had fallen off into the tub but easily pushed back into place. Upstairs jack and jill bath tub needs help. No seal around the tub and mold creeping up around all sides. Definitely wouldn't take a bath in that one. Downstairs bath was decent, shower stall clean and sink was fine, toilet looked newish. ADDITIONAL GEAR Bikes, chairs, wave boards, small beach tent, sand toys and little cart available. Only used chairs and tent but all looked relatively serviceable. Pool table was useless due to none of the pool cues having tips. Ping pong table top was there but heavy and not worth the trouble as there was only one paddle and a broken ball. TVs We were only able to get the tv working in the living toom none of the others turned on or worked with the remotes available. Some were labeled but didn't work may have been battery issues but no telling as they were all mixed up. COMMUNICATION Owner did respond quickly to issues. Not with a solution but that there normal cleaning lady moved and they are working with a service. So we cleaned the place as best we could. Overall would have been better at a lower price point or if the wear and tear was taken care of regularly. It is an older place and it shows.

We totally enjoyed our stay here. The house was the perfect setup for our family, the 5 adult children were downstairs where they could come and go without bother us older 5 adults. The location was perfect and the house was well thought out. The kitchen had everything we needed and you really don’t have to worry about bringing a bunch of stuff. To some it was just a beach house but we felt like it was home. We loved it so much we went ahead and booked it again for next year. Thank you for a very memorable family vacation!

Can’t beat the location of this property! Close to the beach, stores, activities, etc. The house layout was great for our family with kids ranging from 1-16 years old. Gates on the inside and outside stairs to keep the little ones safe. Lots of beach supplies and bikes available in the shed. Only cons I can think of would be for the owners to consider updating the listing as it states there are no linens avail so I ordered from a service however there were linens on the property so that was a waste of money for me, the AC worked great downstairs but kept resetting itself upstairs so it got hot fast in that area, and I tried to contact the owners multiple times with no response. Other than those few things we had a great stay!

The house and location were perfect for our extended family vacation. We enjoyed being close to the pier for those of us who like to fish and the beach was an easy walk to get to for everyone else. Having a fenced in yard was great for hanging out at the end of the day and allowed our dog to join the fun. The pool table was a nice bonus.

We are a group of high school girlfriends friends of 46+ years who rented Bacon in the Sun and we enjoyed the house! It is located within close walking distance to the beach. Lots of restaurants nearby for eating out. Kitchen is very well equipped. The living room area accommodated our group well. The house was very clean but we all agreed that the downstairs bedroom and bathroom could use some upgrades. Overall it waa a great place to stay.

We had a wonderful stay. The home was perfect for our family time. We enjoyed being close to the beach and pier. Loved the new deck and backyard fence. Coffee maker malfunctioned due to replacement pot not fitting properly. TV in bedroom 3 did not work. Overall everything was great and everyone had a great time in the family room and playroom. Kitchen is very nice and clean and enjoyable to use! We look forward to our next visit.

Our family loved this home! Spacious and is exactly how it is described. They had just replaced the boards and seats on the front deck along with new fence in back and a new grill. We did not want for anything! Can't praise it high enough! Thank you Darden's for allowing us to stay.

Big, open, well stocked kitchen with large refrigerator. nice sitting area around 2 tables for meals and games. 2 minutes walking to beach, restaurant and pier. loved the bikes- used them daily.

My family of 5 and my wife's brother's family of 5 stayed at the property and we had an enjoyable stay. The location was an ideal location and it was good overall. I would breakdown my review into 3 areas, Main Living Area, Downstairs and Outside. The Main Area was very nice with a lot of seating and a very good kitchen. The TV was loaded with all the required apps like Netflix, etc. that the kids thoroughly enjoyed. I would correct one thing in the property description which is that, of the tree bedrooms upstairs, 2 have king beds and the other one has a Queen bed. The main living are I would rate at 5 stars. Downstairs had 2 bedrooms, more of the makeshift bedrooms, not a deal breaker though. We found a few dead cockroaches downstairs and in one of the bedrooms the comforter looked aged and requires replacement. There were no baseboards in at least one of the bedrooms downstairs, exposing the ugly flooring edges. I would rate the downstairs as 3.5 star, mostly because of the recreation area, not the bedrooms. Outside of the house really requires updated. The wooden benches looked old and not safe to sit. There were at least 4 grills outside, some rusted and probably requiring removal from the property. The house provided good value and small fixes will definitely earn 5 star reviews but not as is.

We used this property for out of town family and us to celebrate Christmas early. It was very clean and well equipped. They do need a supply of AAA batteries, all but two remotes worked.

My family and I had a great time staying here and enjoying the beach, which was just a few steps away. The house fairly clean and had many amenities and my son (2 yo) loved walking to the beach and seeing all the trucks.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Bacon in the Sun. A 5 minute walk to the beach, and you're right next to the Avalon pier. There were plenty of games, including ping pong and pool, that were available. The kitchen was spacious, the bathrooms were clean, and there was plenty of space for everyone. On the first day that we arrived, the A/C had malfunctioned so unfortunately we were really warm for the rest of the evening. However, the owner responded VERY quickly to this and had a technician come by to fix this the following day. A+ for response to utility issues! One thing to note -- my family and I found a few palmetto bugs during our stay. They probably snuck in while we were moving stuff in/out of the house, but still not something many people enjoy seeing. I'd probably bring a can of Raid next time with me. I would definitely book this house again in the future!
