The Commercial Bar & Hotel

The location was perfect. The late night music downstairs meant we didn’t have to get a taxi home! It was a great atmosphere.

An intoxicated member of the public tried to get up the stairs to the rooms. I would have felt safer if there was a gate or door to the bedrooms or a member of staff guarding the stairs. I spoke to the doorman immediately and he was brilliant and moved the person along promptly.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel room & bathroom were immaculately clean. Excellent value for money. Slap bang in the middle of Chester centre.

Only a minor point - draymen delivered kegs/casks of beer at 7am. The hotel is set in a courtyard, surrounded by tall buildings, so any outside noise gets amplified.

The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. The location was great, right in the city centre, with plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants, and transport options on the doorstep. The bar and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful.

As noted in the fine print there is loud music on weekends, but with earplugs in I slept through this with no issues. Overall the property is a bit dated with new carpets and some repairs needed (for example, the bathroom blinds did not close all the way, the shower temperature dial was missing, the hairdryer and TV remote did not work, etc.).

Location was great. Right in the heart of the city and close to a venue we were visiting. We had a suite, which was great. Four poster bed and large bathroom. Lovely comfy mattress

Small bloodstain on the duvet cover Black mark on one of the hand towels and dirty marks on the bathroom wall. TV in bedroom didn't work or the remote was dead. Advertised as quiet Monday to Wednesday, and it was very quiet on the Tuesday, however there was a lot of noise from a local nightclub on the Wednesday night with some patrons from there making a racket for about an hour. Not sure if they were in the courtyard by the front door or in the alley leading to the high street but they were very noisy. Beer delivery at 6:30am meant we were woken again so didn't get a lot of sleep on the Wednesday. Not sure if it was freshers week as there were a lot of young people out on the town so it might not always be that bad. Not sure if the beer delivery is at the same time each week but it's worth noting.
