Classic Encinitas experience!

Well appointed and fun place to stay. Internet and TV worked great. Only comment which hopefully would be helpful to others is that for anyone planning to walk into Encinitas, the walk to main drag and to beach is 20 or so minutes going, and walk back to house is uphill. So need to plan that may want to drive to most restaurants and beach. But overall a great experience.

We traveled from Calgary, AB but used to live in N. County San Diego, so we were familiar with the excellent location of this home. It's located in a trendy, local-favorite beach town, Encinitas. If you're searching for an authentic Southern California surf town vibe, Encinitas is one of the best. The famous surf spot and beach, Swami's, is located within walking distance of the home. The home is located in a great neighbourhood with a 2 million dollar view (literally). Encinitas has a small town, laid-back feel with great restaurants and shopping. If you're visiting to do the touristy-things (Legoland, La Jolla, Zoo, Sea World, etc.) everything is still easily accessible from the I-5 and anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes away. We are a family of 4, so the two queen beds worked great. The beds were extremely comfortable and the home had all of the amenities we needed, including lots of seating, inside and out. We appreciated the washing machine and dryer and used it quite a bit during our 9 night stay.
A hint to those not familiar with the ocean temps there, if you're visiting outside of the months of June - Sept, bring or rent wetsuits. Our trip was in late March, and we spent hours at a time in the water, thanks to our wetsuits. It wouldn't have been that way had we not had them. We brought ours from Canada and bought our 9 year old daughter hers at Hansen's Surf Shop in Encinitas when we arrived.
The hosts and owners of the home were great to deal with and always quick to respond. We had a last-minute special request which they graciously accommodated. Thank you again Lauri for that! Jen, Grant, Ashlyn and Grandma Joanne from Calgary, AB

Great Beach Bungalow in the BEST N. San Diego Beach Town, Encinitas

When deciding to rent property the pictures provided did a great job but with pictures not always possible to determine scale. A floor plan would always help.
That being sad, the Happy Place, lived up to expectations and actually exceed them.
Very quiet neighborhood, occasional commuter trains going along the coast.
If your looking for ocean view and a pleasant place to enjoy family and friends in a very nice safe beach town and neighborhood A+

What a fun location and amazing view. Our family of 5 had a blast in the area. We were able to hit Coronado Island, Petco Park, La Jolla and so many beaches and fishing spots from our home base. It is an easy place to navigate and feel right at home in Encinitas! Thank you!

We absolutely loved our stay here. We were in Encinitas for a family reunion and this was the perfect little oasis where we could get our littles (5 and 18 months) a little rest in the middle of all the fun, while mom and dad enjoyed a glass of wine and some relaxation on the wonderful deck with a spectacular view before we joined back up with the family. It made our trip feel like a true vacation. Such a perfect fit for our family of four. And the outdoor shower was a huge hit (and super convenient) after a beach day. We definitely hope to stay here again the next time we are in town.

Those views though...
This was the perfect house for a long girls getaway weekend. The house is so cute, comfortable for four, with great outdoor space and views for days. Great cross breezes made for the best afternoon naps. I probably took 1000 sunset pictures, all stunning.

Charming and Bright With Beautiful View
Perfectly located in a quiet neighborhood, this property exceeded our expectations during a recent 4 night stay. Offering ocean views from nearly every room, this charming and comfortable home is a terrific base for walks into Encinitas to explore its unique shops and restaurants or to enjoy the beautiful coastline, beaches and surfing spots. Lauri, the owner, was very responsive and welcoming. We look forward to another stay soon!

This is the best place to call “home away from home”. Renovations to my home in the vicinity had me seeking a rental close by - and I found “Happy House”! Could not be more happy with this little gem! Lauri and Derrin (the owners) were super attentive and accommodating!

Terrific place, great views, older home, a lot of character
Really enjoyed our stay. Historic home, very unique with beautiful views in a charming neighborhood. Loved walking down the hill to restaurants, shops in super cool downtown Encinitas, Swami’s beach, and the J St lookout! Beach access to Swami’s is a little tricky (down the hill, under the highway, up the street and down the stairs) but worth it. We drove to moonlight beach also. FYI, trains run near the home every 15-30 minutes, but didn’t bother us. Overall a great stay.

Beautiful and cozy
The happy house was clean, comfortable, and gorgeous. We had such a wonderful time here. It is a great place to stay and relax or go galavanting about San Diego. Both bedrooms are cozy. The shower was really good. The living room area is also a wonderful spot to relax and open the doors for the ocean view. I plan to stay again!

Great property!
My husband and I stayed at this property the end of January and we had a fantastic time. The views from the back deck are amazing. The overall condition of the property is good and it is well stocked for anything that you need for your visit. It is located on a quiet street and has a private garden entrance. I would highly recommend for anyone wanting a weekend stay with a couple or family of 4.

Charming cottage with great back deck!
We had a very comfortable stay in this light-filled cottage near the beach. The owner provided a basket filled with sodas, water and snacks upon check-in, as well as all of the necessities. She was also very kind to accommodate us with a late check out on our departure date.
The house is well-decorated with comfortable furniture that looks new, as well as modern kitchen appliances. Owner also provides wifi and DirectTV. There are games and books in the master closet for your use. Plenty of pillows and throws to make yourself comfortable on a chilly night. I only wish there had been a little less sunlight in the bedroom every morning while I adjusted to west coast time, but it got me up and going.

The Happy House made us happy :)
We recently spent 8 nights at this property. Now that we are home, we have fond memories of our stay :) First of all, the hosts are very friendly, accommodating, and responsive. They even had Christmas lights on the house for us and made sure they were working properly for the holidays! The views from most anywhere in the house, and of course the deck, are spectacular! The location is perfect - we could walk to everything - the beach, restaurants, SRF gardens, shops, etc. We had a few cool nights and the heating system is very efficient. We slept in the larger bedroom and the bed was quite comfortable. Although we didn't watch much TV, there was a nice large screen in the living room. All the appliances worked well and it was convenient to have a washer and dryer next to the kitchen.
The house does have a few quirks. Entering from the french doors by the kitchen and also going from room to room, we had to learn to step up and down for the different room levels.The light switches are a bit confusing, and there aren't many electrical outlets. Regulating the hot water in the shower is tricky - it took us a while to find the sweet spot, but once we did, it was nice and hot.
We had a great stay and would recommend this property!
