I rented this house for my family, my brother and our parents to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary! It was perfect for us. Their bedroom was on the first floor so they didn’t have to climb stairs. The house was adorable, neat, clean and we had everything. It’s conveniently located near Acadia, Bar Harbor, Bass Harbor etc. we had a wonderful long weekend getaway with our family and my parents had quality time with us and their grandchildren. We love the area and we are very familiar with it but we usually camp so this was a nice change of pace. I emailed the owner with a concern and we received a prompt reply.

Very comfortable accommodations on Mt. Desert Isle for our first visit to the area! Was glad to be on the quiet side of the island and had plenty of space to spread out.

This house has everything you could ever want or need. I am very particular about houses I rent. This is well equipped, in good shape, in a good location, and is even bigger than the photos. The kitchen was one of the best kitchens I have experience with VRBO. I recommend this house. Large 4 bedroom house on a quiet street. Close to Seawall and Wonderland. Not too far from everywhere else on MDI and away from the crowds.

We enjoyed our stay here and all the house had to offer including everything you need for cooking, toys and games for kids, and nice outdoor space. It was very relaxing and the location is great!

Absolutely perfect! The house is bigger than it looks. The location is perfect!!! No hustle and bustle of crowds in Bar Harbor. Yet, we could get to almost every location on the east side of the island (even inside the park) within 30 minutes! The house had everything you could need! It’s the little touches that make it special and they were all here! Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

The house was spacious and comfortable, very homey, with good beds. The kitchen was well stocked with plates and pots and pans, perfect for our family dinners. The yard was great for extra space and access to the herb garden was nice.

Excellent home with plenty of space
Our family of 8 stayed comfortably in this house. The owner had lots of recommendations on nearby places to see, including her own favorites. The house had games for the family and plenty of space, inside and out, so we didn't feel cramped. Will definitely be staying here again when we return to Maine!

Perfect Family Getaway!
This home was perfect for our family! It was immaculate, welll-appointed and had all of the comforts of home. We loved exploring in the parks but enjoyed coming back to the house even more. The kids played games in the yard, made smores, made wonderful memories playing family game night on the three season porch. There were suggestions of their favorite spots for us to easily find, and there is so much to do we would love to return. We enjoyed the wildlife and even friendly neighbors. Elisabeth was incredibly helpful and an amazing host. Thank you for this opportunity, we would love to come back!

We loved our stay! The house is more spacious than the pictures show. We loved the backyard and all of the birds and deer that came to say hello. It was a quick 30 minute drive to most places in Acadia and just a quick drive to downtown southwest harbor with nice shops and restaurants. Lobster shacks everywhere and scenic views abound. Recommend if you're interested in exploring the park but also would like to be away from the noise of bar harbor.

Due to a sudden change of plans we decided last minute to drive to the East Coast. We felt so lucky that the Meadowside property was available. Elisabeth was wonderful to work with and our 25th anniversary trip was certainly one worth remembering. The property was spacious and clean, just as the website described. Maine is a beautiful state and staying in Southport Harbor was well worth it!

This was my first time in Maine and it was a great weekend and experience. Elisabeth was great to deal with. The house was exactly as advertised- great size, clean, great location, etc. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking to stay in Southwest Harbor.

Last Minute Lasting Memories

Fall Acadia Tour
This was an excellent rental for a week in Acadia. The house was immaculate upon our arrival. It is very spacious and offered plenty of privacy for our group. The location was nice and central to some hikes and restaurants, but the bulk of the action is more towards bar harbor. For those looking for a quiet getaway, like us, this was the perfect rental.

Great area
House was amazing! Had everything you could possibly need. Southwest harbor was a great location to stay. This was our first time to Acadia. We loved having some of the lesser visited parks near us (Wonderland trail, Bass Harbor Head lighthouse). I would anticipate eating dinners at the house... the restaurants in Southwest Harbor were extremely busy and even takeout was over a 2 hour wait. The kitchen was really well stocked and the grocery store was close!

A wonderful home for an MDI vacation!
Everything about this property is wonderful! A very well-equipped kitchen, very comfy furnishings, a quiet location but still easily accessible to everything, and incredible attention to detail make this home a welcome place to return to after a day exploring the island. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfy home away from home.

Seawall Meadowside Cottage Did NOT Disappoint
We had a wonderful week with our whole family, traveling from Akron, Dayton and Chicago. It was our first time to Maine. Elisabeth was prompt with any answers to questions prior to our stay. Expectations and conditions of the contract were clear. The home felt even more spacious than the pictures.
The location was ideal!! We hiked multiple trails in Acadia, spent time in Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor for dining and exploring, and walked to the harbor and ocean path from the house.
The kitchen was well stocked for us to prepare meals at the house. We had a campfire, enjoyed lettuce and herbs from the garden, time on the deck and hammock. The only complaint, to no fault of the owner, was the strong season of mosquitoes
that limited our time outdoors.
We would absolutely return!! We strongly recommend this location.

Wonderful Visit
A very comfortable house, so clean and so well stocked! We really enjoyed staying on the Quietside away from the hubbub of Bar Harbor! It was just the get-away that we were looking for!

Beautiful property on the quiet side of the island
The home was absolutely beautiful, roomy and comfortable. We were close to several of the hikes in Acadia and took advantage of that! There were movies and indoor and outdoor games available for use which was so nice. There were 8 of us and we were very comfortable and slept very well. The owners responded to questions promptly and were very helpful. The top 10 list of things to do was a hit in our group!

Perfect home for families
Our family loved our time at Meadowside Cottage.
True to the other reviews, the home feels much larger than pictured. Downstairs sleepers couldn’t hear upstairs (Children) at all.
The home is filled with perfect touches!
It is clear (in the best possible way) that the owners have enjoyed special family time here and they love this place. We are now grateful for our own special family time in MDI. Thank you.

Charming home with everything you need
We enjoyed our time in sw harbor! The home has so much to offer: sit in the sunroom and watch deer in the meadow, pick fresh lettuce from the garden, or cozy up by the fire; you simply can’t help but relax. The home is conveniently located near beautiful trails like ships harbor, wonderland and beech mountain. The town has great restaurants—we enjoyed pizza from little notch and a delicious meal at coda. It is obvious that Elizabeth and family want their home to be enjoyed and make every effort to create a relaxing space.

Great spaces for family hanging out and dining
This cottage is close to both Southwest Harbor and the southern parts of Acadia. There are plenty of spaces available for the family to hang together, or separately. Lots of amenities, great kitchen. Owners were very easy to communicate with. Would absolutely go again.

Beautiful home with everything you need to be comfortable.
We loved the house and everything it had to offer. Great place to enjoy family. Rooms were spacious with a large family and dining area. There was a keyboard, guitar, and games to keep kids and family entertained when not enjoying nature. We enjoyed it so much!
