We had a wonderful stay. Positives: Lots of space and seating inside and out Outside covered grill area was really nice Kitchen well appointed with appliances, tupperware, etc. Could use a few more coffee cups The best location with beautiful views of the ocean and a lovely tree and bench out front for shade on the beach Lots of towels and some toiletries for your convenience Owner extremely responsive and friendly Negatives 3 of the bedrooms are off the master so you have to walk through the master bedroom to get to them No air conditioning-some of the bedrooms have lots of windows that open so the breeze is adequate. Other bedrooms have very small windows so were extremely hot

We stayed 7 nights, the beach was beautiful, the kids, teens and adults had a great time. The breeze off Kailua Bay kept us cool in even the warmest afternoons. TW

We had 6 adults and 2 children stay in the home - 3 family units, and the layout was perfect for us! It was great that everyone had enough space to provide for privacy while at the same time, the kitchen and family room space allowed for all of us to gather in the evenings and play games. Absolutely everything you need is provided at the house - pool and beach toys, kitchenware, plenty of bath and beach towels, etc. Florence was super helpful and was so quick to respond to anything we needed (which wasn't much). She was so friendly and made us feel very welcomed. There is no a/c in the home, but I felt that we didn't need it, at least in the main living area and in the primary bedroom - there was an amazing ocean breeze! It would have been nice if the windows in the other main bedrooms would have opened up to allow that air to come through, but the house had plenty of fans so that no one was hot. Speaking of hot, we were all able to take nice hot showers at the same time without running out of hot water. The water pressure in the showers was great, which is a big deal for me. My husband and I treated our grown kids and grandkids to this trip, and the only words they described it was "perfect". This home truly served our needs and we loved every minute of being there!

We stayed in early June 2023. There were 9 of us age 16+. House is large, individual beds for all. A few bedrooms require walking through another to access them. Location is a 10+ The pool and seating area on the patio were used daily. Plenty of beach chairs, boogie boards and sand toys. Only a few steps to the beautiful Kailua beach. It is literally your backyard. Only thing that caused me to give 4 instead of 5 stars overall was the house's need for refreshing. It was very clean and everything worked well, but there was chipping paint, rusted shower curtain bars etc. It is just tired and in need of a facelift, but still functions well. The location, size and pool allowed for us to overlook some of it and we do plan to visit again next year. Expensive for what it is, but a one of a kind location with Hawaii's strict short term rental rules.

We stayed at this Kailua beachfront house for 5nts from 5/29. It accommodated all 9 of us comfortably. Loved the kitchen with a stunning view. Enjoyed early morning walks on the beach that're just steps from the house. We had a great time there. Would come back again.

The stay was fantastic. The beachhouse is perfect location and so many rooms to stsy in. Everybody had plenty of space and the kitchen was huge w an ocean view! We had very old people and children under 5. Steps to beach and lots of parking. Florence was so great and even supplied larger beach chairs for the elderly folks. Also plenty of beach toys chairs etc. bbq and pool area was a nice covered area to gather as well. Mahalo to the folks taking care of us and we will be back soon!

Great vacation experience

Beautiful public beach right in front. Kids loved playing at both the beach & backyard pool. Our family of 10 enjoyed our stay here. The host (Florence) was very helpful & accommodating.

Our family, which included three teens, one adult child, and four adults stayed here the week after Christmas. You simply couldn't ask for a better location. You can literally roll out of bed and be at the beach or in the pool. The house is well equipped for all of your needs with lots of sleeping room for everyone. The center room, upstairs, is a pass through room so, as a family, you may want that upper part for one whole family. There was plenty of privacy for all though. Super close to the town of Kailua, easy to shop at local grocery stores and away from the hustle bustle of Honolulu. We loved every minute of our stay and the host answered all of our questions and even rushed to supply two items that we needed for the house that were not there. This is not a super fancy house in terms of decor etc, which makes it all the more comfortable. You know that sand will come in from the beach but it's easy to sweep the tiles and keep the house neat and tidy. Location, location, location!

Large house that accommodated our family. Well stocked with resources (cribs, strollers, boogie boards, sand toys, etc.) for babies and children. Great location, close to shopping and restaurants; Overall, a great experience. It could use a new coat of paint both inside and out.

Beautiful location could not have been better place to have been on beautiful beach. Outdoor kitchen magnificent , ate outside every evening. People checked on us often, Ivy and Florence made sure we had whatever we needed. Cons: there was only one ceiling fan in entire house. Wish there had been in each room. Some windows did not open so was very warm in those bedrooms. The main bedroom had to be walked through to get to other bedrooms, okay since we were all family but still not optimum and all three bedrooms shared one bathroom. All in all many memories were made and am happy we did this.

Perfect place to bring a family group to enjoy Kailua. Clean, calm and peaceful.

My family totally enjoyed our experience. Beach House was right on Kailua Beach with swimmable waters. Husband and I enjoyed our morning walks and watching the sunrise every morning, just steps away from the house . House had everything it listed and more. Very satisfied and will rebook with vrbo again.

Absolutely stunning location, was perfect for us as a family as we had two infants and having the pool there with reception for a monitor to still reach inside the house for nap time. And the beach is just amazing! Great communication from the owner and manager. Highly recommend if your looking to be staying in Kailua

Weather during stay was not what we expected. Problems with pool corrected.

We were able to eat every meal outdoors on the covered patio. There are plenty of dishes for a large family. There were nine of us staying. Two refrigerators, two washers and two dryers were very convenient. First time I rented a house and I was very happy with this experience. I would really recommend this property.

As other reviewers mentioned, there are a lot of outdated aspects of the house, but this is a great price for the location and size. The owner was communicative leading up to our stay, offered tips on local attractions, and there was a lovely welcome basket. They had plenty of beach chairs, towels, scuba equipment, beach and pool toys, puzzles, board games, etc.! I would disregard previous review about lack of A/C and pool heater - we visited in May/June and needed neither. If you are hitting the grocery store before checking in, there are no basic food staples. (No salt, pepper, oil, etc.) Might be a COVID-related precaution, but just don't arrive assuming things like that will be in kitchen. Less than 10 min drive to Whole Foods and Target. The listing is for 8 bedrooms, but to get to 3 of the bedrooms, you need to walk through other sleeping quarters (they were either former living areas, or walls were added to larger rooms). This is fine for families, but if you are a group of couples or other people valuing privacy, there are 5 bedrooms that would properly accommodate you. There is an attached garage with laundry, BUT the property's caretaker uses the washer/dryer for other rental properties. We were given a heads up the first time, but then they walked in to use laundry machines with no notice. As other renters mentioned, the caretaker's repeated visits and based on a nearby renter's comments, it does feel a bit like you are being watched. Not that anyone was doing anything inappropriate, but it was slightly less relaxing, feeling the lack of privacy. Overall, you can't beat the location and the price - just manage your expectations as far as bedroom layout and slightly aged condition... Perfect for extended family getaway!

We had a large family stay in the house and you really can’t get a better beach access property. We had people stunned that we were so close. The pool was a great bonus and barbecue. You won’t regret staying at a property so close in! Lots of beach accessories available at the house and pool floaties, beach chairs, towels. For constructive criticism, the aesthetic is very relaxed and not updated. This was okay for us but even little adjustments the owners could make would make a positive difference. Linens had some stains, a lot of the furniture had thin fabric and was white so not the most conducive for lots of visitors or very comfortable. The kitchen didn’t have any basic cooking ingredients so stock up! This may be because of COVID precautions. Pro tip, have instant cart deliver your groceries! And while there was no AC, fans in every room were used and appreciated! There were some cockroaches each night in the first floor rooms and bathrooms. Would just expect that’s common anywhere that close to water. But would be nice if there were some traps - and imagine we could have asked. The last thing and other reviews have said this - the housekeeper is watching the property and communicating with the owners. She surprised us with doing laundry one day in our garage - the property manager was apologetic. And another apartment rental property overlooks the pool at the house but we had no issues. We would just say hello and carry on! Overall it was a beautiful trip, safe community and we had a great time!

All of us siblings who grew up on Kailua beach got a chance to go home and spend time together. It was precious to be home again after so many years and stay in the perfect location in a beautiful home. We're looking forward to planning another reunion here sometime in the future.

We lived in Hawaii with the military in the late 1980s. Since then, I always wanted to rent a place on Kailua Beach to be able to wake up to the sunrises on what is arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We were finally able to do it! As others have noted, this property is dated and somewhat tired. But it's location and proximity to the beach makes up for these easy-to-overlook shortcomings! Everything was clean. All the essentials for a beach vacation are at the house. Communications with the owner were easy and instantly responded to. We had no major issues with anything. There were only 3 of us staying in this expansive home, only because it is the only gig on the beach that isn't a guesthouse, or sharing with someone else (which is what we were looking for!). If you want to stay directly on Kailua Beach, you won't be disappointed here!

The location made the deal. Steps from the beach. Pool in backyard. Enclosed property. Enough bathrooms. Kitchen had everything we needed. Stores close by.
