We spent several days hiking in each of the local parks/wilderness areas. I'm not sure the air conditioning ever worked but it was so pleasant at night that we didn't need it.

We had a wonderful time at Mountain Shadows! The cabin was clean, well-stocked and roomier than expected. We cooked a whole Thanksgiving meal in the kitchen with ease. The fireplace and hot tub were great after a day of hiking. We hope to return! The communication with Matt at the time of booking and just before our stay was very polite and helpful. Response time was also very quick.

The hot tub and deck are amazing! We loved the location and the house itself. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was very well stocked. Couch is also super comfortable.
I would recommend this property to anyone! So relaxing and beautiful and had everything we needed for a 4 day vacation. Matt was responsive and helpful!

Mountain Shadows is an absolute delight. Loved the new furniture and the very clean hot tub and living spaces. We arrived late Friday and our booking had been switched back a day due to miscommunication via email, but everything was figured out within 10 minutes and we had our keys thanks to the excellent communication with the emergency numbers. 10/10 would recommend to anyone else looking to experience such a wonderful area.

We enjoyed this property thoroughly. Extremely convenient location to the places we wanted to see: Blackwater falls, Elakala falls, Monongahela Forest, and the towns of Davis and Thomas. The setting was stunning, and the back windows of the home were very enchanting. We didn't want to leave! We enjoyed the hot tub, kitchen amenities, upgraded furniture, and the fishing pond in the front of the property. Exceptionally nice stay and we hope to visit again soon. The experience with all members of the team was extremely easy and pleasant. We had a wonderful time.

This was an amazing experience, one we will cherish forever. We definitely plan to visit this cabin again in the future. Becky and the entire staff went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The lady who cleaned the cabin was also very nice and pleasant.

Hot tub was in great working order. coffee pots were excellent. excellent kitchen products, utensils. Nice bourbon and wine glasses. Matt was responsive. Easy check in/out. I may have missed instructions on the dog fee - who to make check out to and where to place the check.

We really enjoyed our time at Canaan. The house was spacious, extremely clean, and had lots of amenities including the hot tub and A well equipped kitchen. Only a six minute drive to the ski resort. Communication via Airbnb app was timely and efficient. Staff was easy to work with

Great location for winter
A great property that would be better with AC or in the winter. We knew it didn’t have AC before going but thought it would be fine. It was very warm and uncomfortable. The ceiling fans were not great, they were very noisy and not very effective. We loved the location and the lay out of the house. It worked perfect with kids upstairs and parents on the main floor. The hot tub was great. An excellent amount of towels were provided. And having a washer and dryer was also a nice bonus. Upon arrival there was a note from housekeeping that they couldn’t finish the laundry so the first 30 minutes was spent folding towels and sheets. But the house was clean. Not sure I would advertise a swimming pond as it didn’t look swimmable but you could fish there. With all that said we would go back and stay there again as long as the temperature was under 60. The only other issue we had was the coffee pot didn’t work properly. As noted in other reviews the furniture wasn’t the most comfortable. The beds were pretty firm which half our family liked. Check in and out was easy and communication prior to arrival was good.

Best summer vacation spot we have tried - relaxing as camping with WAY more convenience, privacy, & comfort, yet still in the middle of nature!! The back deck is so private that you do not feel like anyone else is around! Always pleasant and happy to help!

Our trip
The property was very clean and organized. The kitchen had many kitchen supplies and a wonderful dish washer. A large 6 people dining room table and nice picnic table too. It is very spacious downstairs and upstairs area. The internet worked well. It was wonderful to have washer and dryer too. The house has plenty of bath towels and separate hot tub towels. It does have a Charcoal grill. The house don't have AC , but does have roll out windows and ceiling fans. The hot tub does get real hot and one of the jets are broken. The living room furniture is not that comfortable to sit on.

A great getaway
Very nice, well equipped house. Enjoyed the gas fireplace on the cool, damp mornings and the hot tub after a day of hiking. We enjoyed hiking at Blackwater Falls, Seneca Rocks, and Dolly Sods.
Restaurants are still carry out only due to Covid so we prepared our meals at “home”. The kitchen had everything we needed.
