What a beautiful , peaceful spot to stay! We fell asleep listening to the waves, our dogs loved the beach, all around a great experience.

This property was amazing, perfect if you want to stay away from all the touristy places and crowds. The practically private beach was a bonus. Cottage was exactly what was listed.

We have rented many lovely cottages and cabins in Maine over the years, but none were quite as wonderful as Two Ledges! We loved the fine sand beach and the beautiful view of the ocean and the islands. The cottage is clean and charming. The the owner is friendly and quick to respond to messages.

From the moment we walked through the door, it took my breath away. The cottage itself is lovely and cozy. The views spectacular. Just steps from beach with views of Rogue Island, smaller islands to walk to at low tide. Gorgeous sunrises, stargazing. Bonfire on the beach. I couldn't have imagined a more peaceful place. Steve Mitchell very kind and welcoming host. Hoping to make this spot a yearly tradition.

A fantastic beach in a fantastic place; lovely cottage with everything you need. Listen to the ocean; watch the eagles fly, eat fresh crab, and gather treasures in the sand. Could not have been more or better. Loved it all; every moment of it. Thanks Steve!

We have stayed at Twin Ledges two summers in a row and are finally getting around to leaving a review. The property deserves the highest rating. There is a beautiful simplicity in this location. It is rare to find beachfront in Maine, and even rarer to find such a special, private, beautiful spot. You will be blessed with the sounds of waves, beautiful sunrises and moonrises, incredible tides, plenty of seaglass and other treasures to explore, lots of wildlife at your doorstep, a cozy beach to walk daily, and will benefit from the obvious care and love from a couple of generations of the same family owners. Steve and family are great to work with and wonderful to get to know. Their love and care of the property is obvious in all of it special touches. They made us feel so welcome from day 1. The area is fun to explore with quaint small villages and plenty of hiking areas full of beautiful vistas. If you want to visit a place that is truly one with nature, and leave with a sense of renewal, visit Twin Ledges. We look forward to returning one day.

We couldn’t have dreamt of a better place to rest and play in the summer. Beautiful cozy cottage with magnificent fireplace for chilly evenings and hot outdoor shower to warm up after a cold swim, incredible views, the ever present sound of the sea lapping the shore, islands to explore, quiet sandy beach. What more could anyone want?! Highly recommend this retreat to recharge batteries and reconnect with the real world.

We had a great time re-exploring Jonesport and the surrounding natural beauty. Great little spot on a wonderful beach. We look forward to returning next year.

Our family of 5 had a great stay at Twin Ledges. The beachfront there is spectacular. About 1/2 mile of sandy beach, without any crowds! Kids had a great time searching for rocks and beach glass at low tide, and floating on tubes during high tide. We enjoyed evening walks every day. Great place to fly kites. The cottage is cozy, clean and comfortable. Lots of windows and great views of sun rise and moon rise, and the beach. We found great hikes to go on each day. Kids said they had a great vacation and want to go back. We agree!

We stayed for a week in late July and loved it. The cottage is cute and well maintained, you can tell it is well loved by its owners. This cottage makes for a great family vacation destination that avoids the super touristy side of Maine and gives an authentic Down East feel. Kids can play in the water, collect coastal treasures, and run around on the quiet beach all a few feet from the porch. We can’t wait to go back!

Perfect Cottage, Right on the white sandy beach. Perfect View, 60 ft from high tide and great views from every room. Perfect Food, short ride to town and tons of great seafood available. Perfect Beach, brought our dogs and they were so funny to watch in the surf. Perfect Hosts, Mitchell family created a warm, relaxed place to vacation and made sure we were comfortable. I highly recommend this lovely cottage for anyone needing to recharge and relax. It has amazing views and sits on a sandy beach with access to a small island at low tide. We loved walking up and down the beach, especially at low tide, so we could climb around the boulders on Bar Island. Jonesport and Beals are quiet towns - well away from the tourist shops and restaurants. We enjoyed buying local lobster and cooking it ourselves, or getting a steak at the local grocery store to grill, and staying home to enjoy the cottage's view while we ate. We found great hikes within about an hour and took a trip to Campobello (about an hour.) The cottage itself is terrific! Comfortable beds, nice fireplace, beautiful deck looking at the beach - we took our dogs and, with leashes, they could also enjoy the beach. They also went on all our hikes (be aware Wass Island does not allow pets but most other areas so as long as they are on leashes.) Steve and his family were wonderful and we loved our welcome gift! Very thoughtful. So glad they shared their special spot with us. The O'Brians

We decided to have our first true family vacation here at the Twin Ledges Cottage located in Jonesport, Maine, which is about an hour north of Bar Harbor, and what a vacation it was! We wanted to go someplace in Maine that would offer us the relaxation time we needed as a family with views, a beach feel that was semi-secluded, yet not too far from shopping areas/towns. The cottage met all of our expectations and then some! The cottage in itself is beautiful. It has a rustic feel, yet offered all of the modern day amenities one enjoys while on vacation (washer/dryer, awesome shower control, blu-ray dvd player just to name a few). Plus, the million dollar views directly from the cottage of the ocean and islands are spectacular! We enjoyed spending many mornings and evenings sitting out on the back porch taking in the views while enjoying some coffee or a glass of wine. The views alone are perfection. It is what one may expect when thinking of Maine's impeccable coastline. It simply doesn't get any better than this! We also spent most of our time exploring the pristine Sandy River Beach that's just 50 feet away from the house! The beach is filled with all sorts of treasures that one can spend hours upon hours looking for sea glass or sea shells during low tide. Plus, the tide changes are incredible. We truly lucked out with some perfect weather days, which made exploring the beach even greater fun. We flew kites and spent time wading in the water. Since the cottage is also dog-friendly, we were able to bring along our family pet. She had a blast walking the beach and playing fetch with her "sissy"! She had the time of her life. While in Maine, we went to Machias for breakfast at Helen's Restaurant (excellent blueberry waffles), visited Lubec and Campobello Island's West and East Quoddy Lighthouses, and we also stopped in at Wild Blueberry Land for some mini-golf and the best wild blueberry pie (get the crumb topping) and blueberry desserts. We also ventured over to Beals Island (10 minutes from the cottage) and had Bayview takeout for dinner. Lastly, the Mitchell family were phenomenal. They greeted us with a nice welcome gift and were extremely helpful and friendly. They treated us like family. The fact that the cottage has been in their family for generations makes this place even more special. We are truly grateful for the Mitchell family for sharing their rare gem with us where we were able to make some memories that will last a lifetime!

My husband and I just enjoyed a week in Jonesport at this property. It was gorgeous! The cottage is impeccably furnished and cared for. Every inch of it is rich with quality and character-a true craftsman home. From the antiques, to the original art, to the comfy bed and bedding, to the epic fireplace, this cottage speaks elegant Maine coast. We enjoyed a fire many nights, gazed at the rising and setting sun, and marveled at the fact that we were less than 50ft from a sandy beach. We combed the beach, walked to a nearby island at low tide, hiked the Bold Coast in Cutler and the Great Wass Preserve, visited Canada's Campobello Island, ate pie at Helen's in Machias, and saw a free film at the local historical society. There is much to enjoy! The Mitchell family was super helpful and friendly, and even provided a sweet welcoming gift. The fact that they are opening this lovely family cottage to renters is a gift.
