We rent a house each year for our family and their children. This house is has everything you will need. It had all the spices, paper towel, T.P., trash bags... Things we normally have to supply. The house is perfect both inside and out. Well maintained grounds, LARGE BBQ with two gas tanks. Owner met us and showed us the house. Rent this house and you will enjoy your stay.

The location was great. We the property when our vacation to Captiva was cancelled due to Ian. It was like your own resort, paddle boards, large pool, kayaks and fishing from the sea wall. The large grounds were beautiful.

We came in for family Thanksgiving. The home easily accommodated our larger group- even had a few beds to spare. Due to the recent hurricane, we weren't sure how well the property would have faired. It was immediately clear, however, that the team put monumental effort into making things as lovely as possible. Freshly potted flowers in the boxes and grassy areas cleared of debris. Care was taken to make us feel welcome- even the cute resident cat TomTom was friendly! The family made great use of the available kayaks and paddle board to visit the local manatees and play with the dolphins that came right up to the house daily. The kids had a great time building sand castles with the white sand that was provided to make a beach for them. The only downside was the amount of nibbling insects when sitting outside. However, bug spray was provided, and even they didn't dampen our spirits. I would recommend this home for large families that want to feel together while still having space to spread out.

This house is all about comfort. It has every kitchen accoutrement you might need. We made great meals and had lazy days in the pool. It was everything we needed for a large family vacation.

This is a wonderful property and home and we loved it! Manatee and dolphin visits, huge pool. Lots of space.

We did a week-long retreat for some team members of our company and this place couldn't have been more perfect. The updates to this house (including what seemed like all brand new bathrooms and a marvelous kitchen) were over the top perfect. We had room for everyone and we managed to catch fish every day we were there. Tons of wildlife right in the backyard and that back deck on the water was our favorite place to hang out, to grill, and to have a cocktail as the sun went down. Definitely coming back!

One of the best vacation rentals we've ever had. Clean house, comfortable beds, plenty of good bed linens and towels, well-stocked kitchen, beautiful location, warm heated pool, helpful and responsive management. Everything you hope for when you go on vacation!

I stayed here with my family of 9 for a week. We picked this property for its proximity to Crystal River and Tampa. The property is very private and surrounded by water. The property is like a botanical garden with many plants and trees all around. Aripeka is a quaint sleepy town. Not much there but nature, wildlife, and nice people. Stop by the Aripeka Stone Crab company for tasty fish and to meet Mermaid Kerry. There is a tiny grocery store on the island. Otherwise, everything else is about a 10 min drive. The nearest beach on Pine Island was about 20 mins. Back at the house We really enjoyed the covered veranda that is full of comfortable outdoor furniture and dining tables. We spent a lot of time out there. We loved looking for sea life. In fact, one of the highlights was up close experiences with dolphins that swam right up to the wall on many occasions. We also saw many different kinds of birds and sea otters. We used the kayaks and pool a lot. the pool is clean but the fiberglass is deteriorating and looks dirty. The kitchen was very well stocked. We enjoyed the beautiful charcuterie plate and champagne left for us in the fridge on arrival. My only concern, not really complaint, is the temperature of the house. We were not allowed to change the thermostat bc the AC units would freeZe up. My husband and I had the fans running in every room and usually slept on top of the sheets. No one ever complained though. But I know for some people they would be uncomfortable in 72-74 degrees. One suggestion I have for the owner is better privacy for the bedrooms. My husband and I did not stay in the largest bedroom because the doors did not lock and the doors were glass with see through curtains on them. We decided to stay in a smaller room that had a door that locked. The same thing was the case for another room at the top of the stairs. I really don’t think see-through curtains on glass doors that don’t lock is acceptable for bedrooms. Another thing to be aware of is that only 3 of the 6 bedrooms have a bathroom. The only bathroom not in a bedroom is upstairs. Not lcomplaining bc it worked fine for us, but if I was staying here with another family, I think it would be a problem. All in all, I think this is a lovely home that I would stay at again but hopefully after the glass doors are fixed.

Every year we schedule a vacation since our parents passed and we mostly just hang out at the house: play games, fish, watch movies and sit on the porch. This house was amazing for that even though the hurricane Elsa decided to make a statement. Thankfully her statement was to "Let it go!" Deni was so very helpful during our time of uncertainty on what to do. We fished and caught so many catfish and pinfish. If you plan to fish I suggest that you have a good rod and strong line. It became a nightly thing on catching the big one because 3 nights it broke the line or rod. There are so many good places to eat and she is only a text away for questions. We saw dolphins, sea otters, gators, a raccoon and made a friend with a bird that wanted our bait that we named Fred. With 13 people we had plenty of time to spread out and relax. It was such a peaceful week.

Aripeka, FL, took our immediate family of 9 back to at least the 1950’s, and possibly earlier. The 6-acre beautifully maintained property was totally relaxing post-Covid-19 recovering for all in our small group.
It was such a wonderful experience, I, the family elder, made a decision to repeat the process each year during the same week in a different location of our great country.
There is no substitute for family-bonding, and this location provided us additional cement!
Sincerely,

Espectacular house, with all the personality as advertised. On our visit the heated pool was not heated, but the rest of the house was very good, loads of light and personality. It does indeed look like a place Hemingway would have stayed in. Very small annoyances like the very noisy industrial refrigerator and the non-working pool, but apart from that a really nice place.

We loved sitting on the porch and watching all the wildlife around and in the water. We saw otters, bald eagles, pelicans, egrets and herons. Beautiful setting and lots of seating areas to hang out with family. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a great meal. We enjoyed our stay here and wished we could have stayed longer.

There is so much to love about the Cottage by the Sea, it is hard to know where to begin.
On our arrival, our hostess, Denise, welcomed us graciously with an extensive tour of the house. She calls it “Hemingwayesque,” and that fits quite well. Not a developer home, it has turns and switchbacks; hidden recesses; (and hidden utensil drawers in the kitchen – be sure to ask Denise); quaint, but tasteful bric-a-brac; unique furniture; multiple levels; on and on... This is not so much a place for the mobility-impaired. Also, our party of twelve filled the beds. The four bathrooms, not five as advertised – while adequate to our purpose – require some cooperation from guests; lacking a dedicated powder room on the ground floor, the cottage requires daytime use of baths inside the two ground level bedrooms by all, or else, mounting stairs for the “common” second floor bath. Groups who are less family-like, or the more fastidious, may find this a disadvantage. Additionally, three second floor bedrooms at night share a bath for nighttime toilet use. Window dressings on two upper bedrooms with French doors are somewhat too sheer for the best privacy. One first level bedroom did not have a shade over the door window for privacy. What makes a 5 Star home/hotel? I would say, each bedroom has a private bath. All bathrooms are “classy,” modern. The kitchen must be big, modern, well-equipped. There must be generous living space – both common and private. Grounds must be well-groomed, pool and physical plant well-cared for, etc. That being said, the kitchen certainly meets these criteria – three ovens, commercial fridge, two dishwashers, utensils, etc. Seating and gathering areas sufficient to the purpose. Lounging areas on wraparound porch and adjacent area, along with generous seating at poolside, make for very comfortable and relaxing spaces. The pool enclosure was very nice, the water perfect and not too chlorinated. Kayaks, plus lifevests, afford a peaceful way to enjoy the Gulf inlet, which is shallow enough to stand in most places. Grounds are beautiful. Not many mosquitos, but no-see-ums hazardous to the susceptible; be sure to have insect repellent. The vicinity is very peaceful and quiet, with plentiful shopping nearby. Several guests had difficulty with cellphone reception at the house, but wifi internet reception was good.
Additionally, Denise had a nice assortment of fresh fruit, snacks, breakfast treats, appetizer dips and chips/crackers, as well paper plates, etc., on our arrival, along with some light beverages and ice for the group.

Beautiful home in Aripeka
We stayed for a week in March. Our favorite part was the incredible wildlife we saw while kayaking in the gulf. Manatees would swim right up to our kayaks. We also saw dolphins and rays. The swimming pool/patio area is very large and allowed our group of 11 to spread out. There is a large variety of very good restaurants within 20 minutes of the property. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with everything we needed to cook and the large commercial refrigerator was very nice. Only issue we had was with the pool when we first arrived. The pool is heated with solar power and was a bit cold when we first arrived. The owners quickly fixed the issue and the pool was great the rest of the week. We would definitely return to this property.

Home handled our group of 14 very well. Kids liked so well that they preferred to just hang out.

Thank you for a WONDERFUL vacation Denise! This property is off the beaten path by a long shot, which makes it the most desirable vacation location in FL. All the "touristy" locations are well within reach (Busch Gardens - 40 min, Tampa Airport - 30 min, Disney - 90 min, etc) but, the most important sites were seen off the back porch (manatees 2 mornings, dolphins 2 mornings, etc). We fished everyday, kayaked off the dock in the backyard, ran our jet skis (ramp on the property) and swam everyday with the granddaughter in one of the best pool arrangements we have experienced in our long tradition of renting houses for family vacation. This property has a large pool completely covered by a lanai that keeps the bugs out and the grand children in. There were plenty of water toys and someone maintained the pool everyday. The house was spacious, well appointed and (my favorite) had a bathroom for every bedroom we used. Denise and her crew were very attentive without being intrusive and were always there to assist with any issue.
There are wonderful restaurants and other facilities nearby. Found some local restaurants (suggested by Denise) that were excellent, and the grand children took in the local mermaid show which were some of the best entertainment dollars we spent as it is attached to a water park.
I have to say, I travel 300,000 miles per year for work and I had the opportunity to completely unplug, relax and enjoy my family the week we stayed here. We're already committed to the Caribbean next year, but I'm going to try and get back here as quickly as I can. Thank you Denise (and your crew) for a throughly relaxing and enjoyable week!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us for a week We were four generations ranging in age from 20 months to 94 years and there was something for everyone to enjoy, We all had our space and comfortable beds. Lorenzo expertly installed a grab bar to make the bath more safe and handicap accessible for the 94 year old.The pool was a magnet for everyone and one evening we cooked dinner out there on the state of the art barbecue.
Some of the young parents took their tots to Sea World and Harry Potter Land, while others went deep sea fishing. The nearby seafood market provided one memorable meal of stone crabs. We all agreed it had been a perfect vacation and family reunion and one we hope to repeat.

Hospitality off the charts! Welcomed with fruit, cheese, meat platter and wine. Owners were very attentive; Going the extra mile to accommodate us in any way shape and form. Something for everyone: fishing right off the deck and dock. Lazing around enjoying the quiet. Watching the wild life. Take a Jacuzzi. Cook in the gorgeous, huge kitchen. Toddlers easily entertained by driving and riding in the golf cart around the beautiful property, meandering the grounds and gardens, and by playing in the pool.
I loved how there was space, nooks and crannies, places to go and be by one self when needed,...we were a group of 15. But my favorite part was feeling like I was on a river boat cruise the whole week because of the placement of the home directly on the water. Home is very charming with beautiful quality linens in bedrooms and bathrooms. House is very large, open air, lots of light, lots of wicker on spacious porches and deck. Very lush gardens ...with plants inside and out! Had a blast! We hope to return for sure!

Fantastic tropical family getaway!
Fabulous 7 night family holiday at this gem of a location! We had 10 family members comfortably stay in this home for a relaxing getaway. Everyone had their own king size bed and ensuite bathrooms which made the stay very comfortable. Lots of space and little sitting areas to sneak away to for some relax time.
The owners were very accommodating and helped make our stay perfect. They are constantly adding new features to the house, which ensures that everything is comfortable for their renters.
We were travelling with a 3 year and therefore I was concerned about access to the water. The existing steps to the water was the only area that was not fenced. Seeing a 3 year old running around, the owners quickly jumped in and installed a gate to block off this area. This attests to the property owners dedication to making our stay as comfortable as possible.
The area in general is a quaint getaway from the hustle and bustle. Very quiet. Could see the stars every night and hear the water lapping up on the shore. Lovely.
Lots of daytrip options! We did a beach explore one day, visited Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, and took a daytrip to Tarpon Springs. There was everything needed nearby, restaurants, Walmart shopping, grocery stores, fresh seafood etc nearby. Everything is driving distance, but short drives to everything. The owner has a fantastic binder of local activities. We didn't venture too far from the house as we loved the relax... but there was much more that we could have explored! Our favorite two spots: a restaurant called "The Freezer" in Homosassa, and Hudson for evening ice cream run!
We saw dolphins, manatees, and otters right from the property. This was on my bucket list for the trip! So fantastic!
The pool area was lovely with lots of patio furniture. We liked to have lunch in a different area of the house/property everyday. So many sitting areas... I don't think we used them all!
Loved the combo of hot tub and pool while we were there as it was abnormally cool for our stay.
Overall, fantastic getaway location away from the commotion of many of your typical city located rentals. Tropical Island getaway! If you want to have some space to run around, explore without crazy traffic to and from, this is a great location.
Thank you Dee and Lorenzo for a fantastic holiday!
